Whenever I see someone mention Sims 3, or Sims, in any SW thread there's always at least five responses making some sort of laughing comment at Sims.

What exactly is so terrible about the game? Personally I love it. Is System Wars really so "MATURE GAMES FOR MATURE GAMERS SUCH AS MYSELF" that they can't accept any game that isn't a generic brown and bloom shooter?

It was good when I was younger, but I would rather live my life than control a virtual one.

I hate them for the amount of expansion packs released, which are blatantly made for a quick dime. And the damned things still sell.

I love the Sims, and I am as 'Hardcore' as they come. I'm not to into my underground games to admit that the Sims is a fun game that plays right into my God complex

The Sims can be quite fun actually. I remember when I was a kid, my sister used to play The Sims. One day she had her game on pause, and I played on her game and somehow managed to get the dad killed in a fire and the daughter killed by the grim reaper 5 minutes after.

For the same reason people bash WOW, the Wii and any other thing that can be related to the word casual in some way. Apparently most people here are badass harcore gamers, that make normal hardcore gamers look like sissies or something bad or worse.

The Sims is an amazing game. Probably one of the best simulations ever created, but you won't hear many hardcore gamers say that. Although the endless expansion sets do give it a really bad name.

Sims is basically a 3D rendered version of the tamagochi's, does that ring a bell?

In Denmark we have a word for that. Translated it's "the Jante Law" which basicly a very selfish "law" and it means that.. well.. Other can't do better than you. This is was the system war reminds me of.

Some people dont care about having a "virtual life" like that. Being a pro soccer player on Fifa or PES, or even a super soldier like master chief cant really be compared like that.

Because watching a virtual character doing life's mundane tasks is not something I find fun anymore.

Half the people on sw aren't mature so they can't really call that an argument. The Sims is one of the few games I play on my PC, that and Total War. :P

I guess you're a baby then, since you can't spell or use grammar.

And why do you feel a sudden urge to mention this? Do you feel better now? I know his comment was lame, but your's just as lame. Mind you that we dont all have English as native language, nor are we all equally good at spelling.

I dunno. I think they're hilarious. They are what you make of them. If you don't think locking a character inside a room where he wets himself until he dies of starvation sounds like fun then what the hell is wrong with you?

I once made a large, clinical room with a checkboard-pattern floor, tons of grandfather clocks lining the walls and nothing else in it but open fire places with sofas in front of them. It was so ridiculously psychopathic I laughed myself a bit. Like a room from Resident Evil, only much stupider. Shortly thereafter everyone died in a horrible fire. I don't know what happened.

I think this sums up the appeal of The Sims pretty well.

Sims 2 is a great game I've probably played it for over 200 hours. If that makes me a girl, child or casual then so be it.

I've just been prejudiced, thinking I'm too cool to play The Sims. Yeah I'm in SW, there's nothing I'm too cool for, so I'll prolly give The Sims 3 a spin, it sounds like fun tbh.

Consolites hate the sims because it disproves their 2 most ridiculous arguments: 1) PC gaming is dying 2) PC gaming is only for the hardcore and no else cares about it

I think most people agree that Sims is a good game. I personally love the Sims. But I also think the majority of gamers, including myself, HATE HATE HATE the 50 expansion packs that come out for every sims game. I mean, most of the stuff they offer is nothing new and could have easily been included with the main game.

The only conclusion that can be made from this behaviour is that Sims isn't being sold as a game, so much as a delivery system for all the expansion packs.

Pre-freaking-cisely. It's nauseating how many of those things come out with each installment, and it literally seems like they are released mere weeks apart. Sims Pets, Sims Magic, Sims Vacation....the list goes on.

I have never played a Sims game, but I am pretty interested in Sims 3. I think it will be a good game for me and my girl to play together (we each have our own computer). I have been keeping my eye on it as well as Diablo 3 for games to play with my girl.

Yea thats spot on actually. EA does milk the piss out of the series.
