Why so much hype for Little Big Planet?

I understand that Little Big Planet looks like a really cool game and all, but truth is, isn't it still just a PSN game?

It's a 2d physics based sidescroller where you get to create your own levels. Sure, the level editor looks very neat, but still, even if you were to look at is as a 2d sidescroller with infinite levels, that's still all it is. A 2d sidescroller. It'll have no depth. And truth is, you'll probably get bored of it rather fast.

I'm not here to really bash LBP, it looks neat. But it just boggles my mind how people are comparing something like Little Big Planet to big productions like Fable 2.

it looks fun

but i don't fully 'get' this game

is it just endless level creation? or is there something you work towards? because i prefer games with a proper purpose to them

Hell, I remember back in the day of the SNES, games that tried to emulate 3d would be applauded. I'm talking about RPGs bascially. It allowed for so much more freedom and let things become golden.

And overall, hyping Little Big Planet, is in a way, hyping Forge in Halo 3. Is it cool? Yea, but it's essentially a level designer (granted forge is real time though and let's you have forge battles, which are....)

Because people like things outside the box but, simpleminded people enjoy the same things over and over again. So I guess gaming will take longer to evolve because I think that next gen consoles are a joke but, I like to game so I am stuck with them. Because it has to have great graphics to be a good game.. where did we go wrong with these casual gamers?lvgaming

Who said anything about being new I was just stating its not the same old thing? Its nice to have a variety of games instead of just racing and shooters. But, you throwing Banjo out I wouldn't imagine you would understand being its not on the X360.

Haha your really just picking everything you can arent you? Did you read the rest of my post? I said why i think its creative and why i am looking foward to it also. I said how i am looking foward to it because it looks like a improvment and more easy version of a game i love, also the fact that i can play with my friends. did you get that?
