I just don't understand why Sony seems to love to screw Europe..First with a later launch date, and with a more expensive console then here in north america....But now they are removing the Emotion Engine and Graphic Synthesizer!!! First off they are charging the Europe more money for the PS3, why cut the cost???  Second, they need Europe to take on the 360 and Wii....Why screw them over again and again???!!!   Whoever is running Sony needs their head checked!! Sony needs Europe, not the other way around!!

I think they got rid of that one chip to save costs of producing the PS3.  They have emulators now.

Remember, cutting costs will help Sony drop the price.

They couuldnt produce enough ps3's as much as they wanted...

I dont exactly think Sony would say: '' Well we got the possiblity to make 2 milljon ps3's to launch world wide, but LOL, this is da funniez, we'll only laumch 600k, LOL ''

I would understand if they are dropping the price but they aren't!!

In other words, the PS3 sold in Japan and the U.S. is around $30 more expensive in terms of raw hardware costs. And yet, Sony is nailing Europeans with even higher prices. In PAL regions the consoles will retail for up to $240 more than in the U.S. and up to $345 higher compared to the recommended price (¥59 980 or $495) in Japan. Initially Sony will only sell the higher-end PlayStation 3 version of the console (60GB HDD), for €599 ($777) in the most of the markets and for pricing close to that in variety of countries: UK – £425 ($837), Ireland – €629 ($816), Australia – AUD 999.95 ($777), New Zealand – NZ 1199.95 ($840).
