I'd love to have a PS3, but there are few exclusives for me and I probably won't have the money or time to invest in a second console. I'm satisfied with the 360.
I think most 360 owners would feel the same way.
Because your opinion is not fact. People have differant preferances. Because you think something offers more doesn't mean everyone else does.
Hello people, I understand why some would choose the 360 over the playstation before September 2009 (when the playstation costed like twice the amount 360 did and when the inferior version of a game was always on the playstation because the developers had no idea how to harness its power) but I am constantly suprised of purchases made of the 360 right now. I am not a 360 hater and I have only gotten my own slim a fortnight ago (so no bias). The playstation just offers a lot more in my opinion though. Rechargable batteries for the controllers, free internet play, internal wi-fi, bluetooth and it doubles a very good blu-ray player! Meanwhile, to get these features on the 360, extra $$$ is needed. Also, when it comes down to exclusives, the playstation has a lot of variety- platformers like LBP, action games like Uncharted 2, FPS like Killzone 2 and interative movies like HR, meanwhile, all of 360's exclusives are either FPS like Halo or RPGs like Fable. I know there must be a reason for 360 owners to make their purchase....and I just want to know why? bobbleheadrogue
What's wrong with FPS and RPGs? Those two are the most popular genres today...because they are extremely fun. The PS3 dose have a good variety and that is why I purchased one but the 360 excels in online...not just with the better service but with better online games like Halo, GeOW, L4D etc. Also the PS3 does not have a single exclusive WRPG while the 360 has Fable and Mass Effect 2 (consoles only). I don't care about platformers and action adventure games are great on the PS3 like UC2 and the upcoming Last Guradian but I am more excited about mulitplat titles like Red Dead Redemption and Mafia 2. The 360 also has a great adventure title coming...Alan Wake.
Since I don't have a gaming PC I prefer the 360 over the PS3 because it also lets me enjoy amazing PC/360 titles like ME2, L4D and Splinter Cell. Also XBL is the best online service on consoles if you want to play with friends because of party chat, private chat etc (most of my friends have 360s).
Different Strokes for Different Folks.
Besides, at the beginning of this generation, not many knew or researched Sony's 1st Party strength, so Sony appeared weak, and that was good marketing on Xbox's part. Somehow the idea/news early this gen of the PS3 "Losing Exclusives" meant to the typical gamer that the "PS3 was actually losing games", but in reality, those games appeared on both platforms, but they weren't exclusive anymore. Great marketing, honestly.
The price was a huge factor. After the purchases were made by gamers earlier this generation, they were invested at that point. With Online/DL titles, achievements, etc...many gamers are one console gamers, so that was that. They decision was made. Some of course, bought a 360 because due to the games they wanted, same for PS3.
For people today, both machines offer their own games, so I would say again, Different Strokes for Different Folks. :P
While those features are nice, I think XBL is still what sets the two apart. That is, if you're willing to pay for it.
Although i DO know people who only have silver and still enjoy what the 360 has to offer.
PC gamer here, and I'm planning to get a 360 very soon, one reason being I just looove the 360 controller, I know it might sound like a minimalistic reason but when I played MW2 on my brother's 360 it was just amazing! honestly I never knew i'd ever enjoy shooters on a controller ...that + there are games on the 360 that I want to play that didnt make it to PC,

Indeed so. There's a lot more to the 360 than its online.
The 360 controller fits my hands much better than the dual shock. I suspect the difference is much more noticeable if you have large hands.
JRPGs were the other factor. Hearing about how Square Enix had some titles planned really made the decision easier.
The slim also wasn't out at the time and the fat was just too....fat. I didn't want a grill in my living room.
I really want to play Alan Wake so even if my 360 disappeared I would buy another one. I'll consider a ps3 in the future but this year I have plenty of games to play. But the right ps3 exclusive could do it. A white ps3 would help as well.
i guess here is why:
1- Controllers: the ps3 controllers are really bad for genres like shooters and racing compared to X360 controllers. I'm anticipating the PS3 move as I enjoy the Wii-mote for shooters and could see myself preferring PS3 move over X360 controllers (or Natal) in the shooter genre (not racing)
2- Best in their genre: Halo, Gears, Crackdown, Mass Effect, GTA4, there are a lot of franchises that are considered the best in their genre and they're either available only on the X360 or best experienced on X360 platform compared to PS3.
3- Multiplatform: Almost all multiplatforms perform better on X360 compared to PS3.
4- 360 OS and Xbox Live: Innovative and elegant architecture lead to almost all X360 top franchises supporting its unique features. Till today, most PS3 top franchises don't support coop experiences.
5- Video on demand: far better and easier accessibility to movies than PS3 blu ray offering.
P.S. i own all platforms, and I believe, in my opinion, the X360 platform could have been a remarkable platform (head and shoulders above the competition) if it weren't for MS's marketing and business development short sightedness. For that, when it comes to my preference it's PC > X360 (>slightly better) PS3 = Wii
You know, most actual people don't get hung up on whether a game is exclusive or not. The fact that a PC can play a good number of the 360's best games is of absolutely no consequence to a *huge* portion of the gaming public. When you don't worship the little "E" that people in this forum do, the 360 actually has a notably deeper lineup of games.BoomshafftedIf I had the choice between buying a 360 or a new graphics card for my PC, that little E might make a huge difference in my choice.
If you're going to buy one or the other just for Mass Effect, why not buy the PC and get the superiority?PS3 lacks Mass Effect, one reason for buy a good and competent pc or 360. Period.

Because you can't buy a PC that can run it for $200-300.
Gears of War.

Don't know if you're joking or not but Gears of War was major factor in me getting a 360.

If you already have a PC - and I'm feeling safe in assuming most people on SW do - you could easily get a graphics card for $200-$300.[QUOTE="Miroku32"]If you're going to buy one or the other just for Mass Effect, why not buy the PC and get the superiority? Well, the pc version of Mass Effect 1 is plagued with glitches, something that deducts alot of points although I don't know how are the glitches of the 360. As for the second one, there are glitches but aren't annoying as the first Mass Effect.PS3 lacks Mass Effect, one reason for buy a good and competent pc or 360. Period.

Because there is no chance that you might accidentally sign into Home. Live is infinitely better than PSN, and the controller is made for a full grown human, not a hobbit like the Dual Shock.

For a good experience you also might have to invest in a good processor and a bigger ram. Also a lot of ppl I know have laptops now (including me)...so upgrading is out of the question.
I bought mine for the games and would still buy one today or the same reason. And maybe there are people like me who dont care at all about blu-ray or wifi (ethernet connection FTW), or a controller that you have to throw away after the batteries are no longer any good. The free online is nice for a backup plan, kind of like riding a bike when your car breaks down; it still does the same basic thing but the ride is not quite as nice! And again, maybe its the games...IDK.

The best answer: Microsoft strong arms you....they WANT you to go online with the Xbox 360. They have a hold on the masses that own one. Ever since I stopped gaming with them, I have never felt better. Don't get me wrong the 360 is a good system and it has good games, but the company behind it and the way they do their business sickens me.
