Why the hell is the Wii so hell bent on being 'DIFFERENT' and 'UNIQUE'?

Like every single frickin game, must, MUST have the motion sensor technology thrown into the control scheme and it's just so annoying. The motion sensor technology doesn't work as accurately or efficient as it would if it was played like a normal video game with a normal gamepad.

What happened to the fine art of button tapping?

PS: The motion sensor technology is the reason why a lot of the Wii games get horrible reviews.

Answer:

Because if it was more of the same, it would have been crushed by PS3 and X360.

If Nintendo went the route of MS and Sony then it would probably just be another Gamecube or worst.

Way to forget all of the games in which the motion sensitivity is implemented brilliantly. :|

In some respects I agree as shoehorning motion controls into *every* single game is a bad idea. Look at mlb power pros or Mario Strikers as both those games featured little motion control use yet they both turned out great.

However Games like MP3, MoH2 and Z&W feature great use of IR/ motion control and are much better for it. So basically it all comes down to the developer providing relevant and immersive uses for the remote instead of gimmicky and unresponsive controls.

No there are games that don't use it then there are some that barly use it. But like when FE did not use the motion controls the game got a very low score for not doing so. Then there are games like Nights coming out that don't use the motion controls much at all. The last their are games like SSBB that let you pick motion or not motion.

Because gaming is fairly limited by its current userbase. As a gaming only company (unlike MS or Sony, who have other divisions) for Nintendo to continue to grow their potential consumer base needs to grow. As we've seen with the Wii and DS there is a huge untapped market of "non-gamers" and "casual gamers", so why wouldn't Nintendo go after it. And since the standard console design clearly wasn't reaching them Nintendo had to do something outside the box. Seems to be working so far.
