Why the iPhone is a Piece of Crap (List)

Now that the iPhone is officially a gaming device, we can now make threads against it in SW. And all of us pretty much agree that the iPhone is a piece of junk, right?

Let's make a list.

X Reasons why the iPhone sucks:

1. Can't use custom sounds
2. No USB port
3. No Java support
4. Forwarding Email attachments wastes data
5. Inbox for multiple email accounts sucks
6. Camera button sucks
7. Can't FWD TXTs
8. Recent Call Deleting
9. No file structure access
10. Background notification MIA
11. Requires one or many more key pushes than most other phones to do incredibly simple things.
12. One of the crappiest "keypads" in existence. Hardware is better for this, not touchscreen. Period.
13. There are prodcuts on the market of higher build qaulity and increased functionality with similar price tags.

The Sony Ericsson Aino can play PS3 games. How is Apple going to beat that?

Let`s list some of the strong points of the iPhone, to get a fair match here. First of all, iPhone 3GS is a power monster. Not only does it feature a 600 Mhz processor (underclocked from 833 Mhz), but it also has a very strong GPU : the PowerVR SGX. To make an idea, PowerVR SGX is the fifth generation of these types of GPUs. The Dreamcast had a PowerVR II (2nd generation) inside. The touch screen is a great piece of technology, not only you`re not supposed to 'poke' it (as it`s the case with the resistive touch screen technology as seen in the DS) but it works by just making contact with the screen surface (like a _touch_ and not '_poke_' screen should work). It`s also able to track up to five (or ten, not really sure) fingers individually unlike the normal resistive touch screens where you`re limited to one. It`s appstore is open to developers of any size and skill, making it a somewhat free platform with tens of thousands of apps available. Just yesterday I opened the DSi Ware channel on my DSi and I could count the available games on the fingers of one hand.

I don't care about the CPU/GPU. I care about the actual hardware FEATURES.

my iPhone is strictly used as a cellphone and i have to say technically its a great cellphone..

i do have 4 games on it but i dont use it as a handheld gaming devise... i got the PSP for that..

i hate iphone because everyone has iphone and i hate apple and i think it's way too expensive and i think apple is the worst company ever. screw apple.funsohng

We're friends and all Riku but insulting Apple is like insulting me :evil: :P, iPhone is one of the best mobile phones available in my opinion, no mobile phone is good enough for gaming (that's why we have PSP and DS right?). I don't have an iPhone right now but I'll be getting one next year, just to make you angry :Pabuabed

I agree. My 5-year-old Sony Ericsson W810i is still awesome. The Duo Slot makes it future-proof.

Rumors say around 400-500$. It's worth it, though as it has an amazing 8.1 MP camera and a Micro SD slot (Finally Sony decedes to switch over).

The problem with other phones is the OS, I've been using Mac OS X for about 2 years and I have found it to be the best OS ever, an iPhone would go pretty well with my MacBook and the number of apps it has is insane, also many apps are really good plus the OS itself is amazing. I'll need to do some more research before getting a new phone I guess.

Aino can`t play PS3 games, it has remote connectivity with the PS3, allowing you to control it remotely, probably streaming games, movies, pictures from the PS3 to your phone. It`s not able to play PS3 games on its own. If I`m not mistaken, this is also a feature the PSP has.

Nvidia also has a good phone, it can output a 720p res video. I'd say, this mobile is the best one available for gaming, though I wouldn't get it just for that.

Anyone hear about the 3GS overheat problems? Apparently you're not meant to use it in temps above 30 degrees celcius. In the UK we had reports of them getting red hot and burning people. I also burst out laughing when I saw them advertising the new firmware... Adding the ability to copy and paste. Is that realy something to brag about? Then they said "want to send video to a friend with an iPhone? There's an app for that." Most phone's can send anything to anyone over bluetooth! We've been able to do that since 2002!

We're discussing cell phones now?? anyway yeah, the iphone sucks the big one. This thing doesn't even have bluetooth (other than wireless headset).

True, it doesn't happen to apple exclusively but the problem is emancipated by not being able to remove the battery. Your only option is to turn the thing off.
