Why the PS3 still has a chance

Games sell consoles (excluding the wii), we agree? k. good.

 So lets look at the "winner" of this race, the 360. Its top games are:

Gears of War

GRAW

R6:Vegas

Lost Planet 

Those are those 4 games i am interested in and own, but we could also add:

Oblivion

..and other decent games like: 

Viva Pinita (however u spell it)

Crackdown

Table Tennis

DOA4 

PGR3 

Anyways, the 360 is selling well with this lineup, which i hope we can agree that, is not that much of a variety. Fun games? Yes. Enough to last me? No. I play my 360 very rarely, and when i do play it, i just grab a game at random because the 360's top 3 shooters (GRAW, Gears, Vegas) are all shooters that got good scores for the same reason, graphics, and the fact that you can duck behind cover (teh omg!). So that cuts down the variety even more because you could melt those 3 games into one and call it Gears of GRAW:Vegas.

Im getting off topic, so lets look at the PS3.

Top games:

lol, thats basically all they have. But anyways,  360 can succeed with one killer like Gears, and 4-6 other really good games, which chances are, most 360 owners dont own all of because everyone has different tastes in games. But its selling well. 

So now, look at the future, 360 is getting several more powerful games coming to it, and it's going to be hard for sony to compete with that. But I think that if the games people are hyping now, turn out to be killers like Gears, Ps3 will have a chance.

MGS4

FF13

FF13 Versus

Heavenly Sword(graphics are eh, but looks incredibly stylish)

Lair

Warhawk(actually looks fun now)

Dark Sector (looks like a spin of RE4, but i'll give it a chance)

Then you got your Ratchet and Clanks, Jak and Daxters, hopefully a Shadow of Colouseus(i cant spell that word), and a PS3 God of War.

 Do I think that these games will be killer (talking like 95% on game rankings score)? No, it is very doubtful. But in order for PS3 to even lay down proper competition half of those above listen games need to be godly. That and a price drop which will hopefully come before Christmas. 360 sold over 10 mil with its current lineup (even had fewer and less impressive games for quite a while), so if PS3 can pull 6 great games out, it can compete, not win, but actually make you think before you purchase your next-gen console.

 We don't want any system to fail, competition=better games for you. And I know people laugh when others say this about PS3, but we really do need to wait and see, and hope for the best.

Nice though I don't think theres going to be a price drop anytime soon though I must say if they do the sales will go up because there are people waiting for the price drop.youngtongue

Indeed the PS3 will be fine, lol. People tend to forget that plenty of PS2 games went to Xbox last gen, and it is just the same scenario here. There will be great exclusives for both systems, mixed in with all of the killer multi-plats....just like last gen.

Sony is not the only one losing games here. PS3 got Oblivion and Ninja Gaiden. See, it is going both ways, and it truly amazes me that just because DMC4 just went multi-plat, that everyone is running around like Sony just got delivered a death blow, lol. It is still going to be on the PS3, and the majority of the DMC fanbase are Playstation die hards, so I think that it will no doubt sell better on the PS3 anyway.

Funny how quickly people just "assume" things. As they say...."Assumption is the mother of all fvck ups.";)

Dark Sector is multi-platform. Right when info was announced, there was a huge feature in a 360-only mag. And there are rumors that MGS 4 could appear on 360.

So that's one confirmed off your list, and another possible.

Well unfortunate you hate the wii but it looks like you won't be convinced otherwise that it is a fun console just like the PS3 and 360 is. But i understand you don't want to look like your supporting the wii because its not cool. If you actually had an open mind you would have fun with the system and all those games listed.

Agreed. The Wii is a unique "concept" console that mainly appeals to the casual market, and what do people in the casual market usually buy the most? They of course buy the latest fads, or the "newest and most popular" items of the moment.

The Wii was new and different and had casual appeal written all over it. It was marketed brilliantly and boom...was an instant success. Beyond all of the hype, however, the reality is that it is nothing but an over clocked Gamecube in different housing, with a unique, nifty controller as it's main draw and selling point.

As far as the games go, please....how can titles like Wii Sports, Excite Truck, and Wario Ware possibly compare to games like, Gears of War, Oblivion, Resistance Fall of Man, and future releases such as Lair, Heavanly Sword, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, Killzone 2, ect., ect.

The Wii does what it does well for a certain demographic, and for certain types of games, but in terms of hardcore gaming, it is CLEARLY not in the same category, nay...the same LEAGUE as the 360 and PS3. Just no way.

i gave clear reasons why i thought PS3 has a chance in the FUTURE. I dont give a **** about how many gameboys were sold in febuary, they are cheap, portable, and fun, but they arnt even in the same category as to wat im talking about.

gotta admit koala is rite. SOny aint goin ne where. this was the power house of video games and it still is. the wii's success has to do wit its low price. but that doesnt mean games such as zelda (game of the year 06 for most) are the only one wii's got. if u havent noticed, every year a nintendo published game is in the race for game of the year (this year no one can doubt that mario galaxy isnt goin to be) and they continue to drop good stuff. Wit that said titles such as A. Creed are going to dominate the market for some time. So for those 360 fans, SONY ISNT GOIN ANY WHERE ANY TIME SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!b4lBroWnY4LifE
