1. you're talking about 720p televisions....  bluray's selling point is 1080p.  doesn't do any of the current hdtv owners much good.

2. dvd sales passed vhs sales due to the lower pricing and rapid adoption of the mass consumership underscored by dvd players that vastly outpaced gaming consoles in price drops.  

3. the ps3 userbase is paultry at best, while sitting millions behind the competition...  the problem with counting on the ps3 to move movies is the fact that the drive will be used twice as hard as other gaming consoles... meaning, they will fail sooner... requiring folks to pony up another $600 for a replacement, like with the ps2.   Drives don't last forever, nor are they promised to..

i'm sorry, i just don't see much guaranteeing bluray's future other than sony's premature claim to victory in the hidef format wars...

it would take a couple but definately not 20.  maybe you were just being sarcastic?  thats IF MGS4 can be made on the 360. for now the answer is no, from Kojima's recent interview...  If so, all his answers point to a very downgraded version...

yes tango, but i got a 1080i, and 720p sony wega and it still looks spectacular. most consumers really don't care about 1080p, only the hardcore. this is a casual market, we're talking about here, i dont think many consumers will care. i got my ps3 hooked up i usually run it on 720p and sumtimes 1080i but the 720p looks better.filipinothunder

Yes and no.  Should his opinion be completely discredited, no.  However if you are going with the odds, I'll take the person who know the in's and outs of the industry.  They do the research, study the trends, ect....  Peter seems to be more angry than anything.  I guess I could take him more seriously if he didn't come off like a 12 year old who just had his ball taken away at the local park.
