I got a Wii when it came out and I was all "yeah Zelda. yeah Wii Sports." I played both for a good long while. I also picked up a few other games, like Call of Duty and WarioWare and they were alright for a while. But recently I picked up Super Paper Mario and was sorely disappointed. The controls made VERY little use of the Wiimote (except for maybe like 2 Pixls) and was way too easy. ANd the ony real games I'm looking forward to are First Party games like Smash Bros and Mario and Metroid. I really hope i can fall back on some somewhat satisfying third party games when i finish those.

Or else I'm getting a PS3, which i probably will anyway.

Well for one, Super Paper Mario was originally a GC game so it wasn't exactly built from the ground up for the Wii... And besides not taking advantage too much of the Wii Remote it was still a great game, not every game needs to take full advantage of the Wii Remote to be good. BTW I'm not sure whether this was 100% confirmed or they changed their minds but I'm pretty sure they mentioned that SSBB wouldn't be taking advantage of the Wii Remote and instead be using the GC Controller or Classic Controller, not 100% confirmed though...

Frankly, though I like the Wii, the only game that I really like for it is Trauma Centre. That's the only game that really utilizes the Wiimote properly IMO. Warioware does as well, and so does Wii sports, but they're more like party games IMO.

How come people hear seem to complain about the use of the wiimote? Most of the time they're like: it interfears with gaming! But when Paper Mario or SSBB comes along they're like:I'm very disappointed in this game for not using motion sensing. I don't get it!

By your own admission you already enjoyed the Wii for quite some time. You paid for a product. You enjoyed using it. Where's the problem?

Also, in case you didn't know, PS3 games all have endings too.

Maybe I just don't understand your post.

The Wiimote is cool, no doubt. But there are many gametypes that can't make a use of it. Think about tactical RPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics or Battle Ogre, how could the use of the Wiimote make any sense? Or Beat'em ups? Yes I saw the Mortal Kombat trailers, but do you really think you can swing your arms for one hour that fast? Nintendo has good ideas but a lot of 3rd party devs struggle with the implementation of the controls... I will wait for more games that can prove the real use of the Wiimote.

I think anybody has to ask themselves if they're really going to enjoy the whole motion-sensing function four years from now... And when Nintendo makes it's next console, it more than likely will have motion-sensing as it's main focus again. Will it steel feel innovative, fresh and fun every console generation after this?

i too couldn't STAND! super paper mario... after play Zelda, Wiisports, and Warioware. Super paper mario was just really boring and barely used the wiimote, i think super paper mario would of been better for the DS.

topic wise: im still finishing some extra's on zelda, playing some wii sport once in a while, overall i dont regret buying the wii

i got a wii in march but havent played it for ages. i lost interest in wii sports and thought wario ware had no lasting appeal at all. i do enjoy lylat wars and donkey kong country on the vc though. and i don't think my purchase was in vein as i'm really looking forward to super mario galaxy, the eventual mario kart game and other 1st party nintendo games. but i only got a wii for the nintendo 1st party exclusives anyway. that's the only reason i get any nintendo systems now.

if the wii doesn't get any top class games soon then the wave of popularity it's currently riding on will crash.

people say that once Galaxy, Corruption and Brawl comes out, sales will continue to increase. However, if nintendo don't find more third party support, it will be over soon like the Gamecube.

The Wii is dissapointing right now. Under-utilised controls, a bunch of last-gen ports, a lack of quality hardcore games and no online. Nintendo promised they wouldn't have a drought, but they were obviously wrong.

However, next month, things are looking up. Mario debuts in PAL, Pokemon's in America, and shortly after that there's Manhunt 2 (the reportedly superior version)!

Doesn't ps3 have the same problem right now? Why not recommend him to buy an 360 instead? ah right, the ps3 got potential.

its very true, people are getting the wii for the motion sensing hypewhen nintendo left out graphics, i didnt mind because i thought at last a company that would think game playand not just beautiful graphics...so i thought the wii will have innovative marvellouse games, instead it became a ds/psp on tv, and "retro" gaming system...nintendo made a mistake make so few buttonssome games now might have difficulty being controleed like SSBB that are going to use the gamecube controller!!!
instead the motion sensing should have been an extra option that would be exciting to use along with games, i would pick gears of war over any wii game easily...the ps3 isnt any better around games. If the wii has a lot of medicore games, the ps3 has almost no games at all...and most games can be purchased for the 360 any way...
currently the best system is the xbox. It has some good games now(even if few) but keeps you busy and happy, it got online gaming, and it has HD beautiful graphics, and its line of games  is GREAT.....its just a faulty/microsoftish system thats the problem with it.
the wii has got to find fun innovative games...otherwise we would al have made a mistake to buy a system tat would play old games and ds/psp games. Its kind of still early to judge and as we are hardly passing 6 months from release while the 360 enjoyed 1.5 years. ps3 got the basis to make great games but price and support issues/lack of exclusives is not working right for it.
i really hope the iwi gets great games, because i want one...except there is no reason to buy it up until now except to play the next mario/metroid/zelda/SSBB again on the third generation system, what about new games? stuff that is made only for the wii? on this sales record the consumer base is so large u can make any type of game and market it

The Wii has plenty of quality 3rd party games... but just not as many as the competition. That is where 1st party comes it :D

How can SRPGs not be done on the Wii? The pointer functionality would work great for TBSs and if you're not going to uses that then the Wiimote has more than enough buttons for such a game. Fighting games are a bit of a problem but MKA seems to have found something good to stick with (using buttons for regular attacks and motion controls for special moves), though unfortunately I doubt it's control scheme would work all that great with most other fighters.

After SSBB and MP3 their will probably be no more games. Believe it or not this year and some of next year is going to be the Wii's peak. And after a while the graphics will begin to look outdated. If your not having fun with your Wii now you may want to think about getting a 360 or a PS3.

i'm pretty sure that the wii will still keep coming out with games after the big 3.  if you had faith in the wii then, you should have faith in the wii now.  it takes a while to develope great games.

Well, even as a Nintendo supporter, i could see that the line-up from launch wasn't all that good. I'll get a Wii over the Summer because i know that it'll shine at the end of 2007 and throughout 2008.

Launches are usually dissappointing to me, so it's usually about a year before buying a system.

Even if SPM didn't use the Wiimote much it still a fun game. Not every Wii game need the Wiimote that much. Look at SSBB.

Are people going to treat the Wii like the DS?  Where they constantly complain if every game doesn't utilize the Wiimote for every action in the game?  Then, if the Wiimote is used, they will just call it 'tacked on'?

I think it's clear that the OP doesn't like SPM simply because he doesn't like to read and thinks he needs to be waving the controller around all the time.

I have to agree super paper mario didn't utalize it too well, but trauma center is a defient display of how wii games can be done right :D
