Just something I have been wondering. The rest of the industry seemed pretty into it, it was backed heavily by third parties, by Valve and Steam, and by Sony (who brought No Man's Sky, The Order, Uncharted 4, and Bloodborne to it), and by Nintendo (Mario Maker, Splatoon, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D, Star Fox, Codename STEAM, The Legend of Zelda Wii U).

Why, on the other hand, did Microsoft not have anything to show? What happened? The only thing we got from them was an ad for Forza Horizon 2. Why did they not show up? Especially with the target audience, you'd think this would be the perfect venue for them to show off some neat stuff and take the wind out of Sony's sails before their event tomorrow, but they didn't even bother showing any new games.

What gives?

They blew their load on 2014? They don't have much in 1st party software for the first half of 2015?

Other than that, I have nothing. They have titles due next year, but the Xbox strategy is to typically release those in the second half of the year and talk about those games at E3 to pump up sales for that year. I would imagine those studios aren't ready to unveil a year in advance and are prepping for the E3 2015 deadline since Demos are a lot of work for devs.

Either way, this isn't the first time I've seen them take breaks from game shows/conferences. It's just more indicative of their smaller 1st party.

Probably the same reason they are dumping the market with $250 XBones bundled with $100+ in games.

The industry was ready to abandon them if they didn't make a move and now they are back at the negotiating table to make something happen. Meanwhile, Sony needs to show they are not having a game drought as is the de rigeur on forums and Nintendo is more than happy to share the spotlight with anyone to show their 2015 lineup. Nintendo and Sony know what their public perception is very clearly. Every journalism site has been giving XBox undue amounts of cred for their 2014 lineup.

Like it or not. Hate on me or don't. MS looked like the odd man out this week.

They are playing their cards close to their chest it seems. The probably have some pretty big bombshells lying in wait ready to drop, they just want to steal more of Sony's thunder.

Remember we are talking about the Windows company here. They have pockets as deep as Apple.

And? They could buy and sell anyone they wanted pretty much. The could drop $200 million on a new game and not even bat an eye.

This is a huge advantage for Microsoft it's not even funny... and makes me wonder why they haven't crushed Sony yet.

Well, let's see.. They have an established franchise called Halo.

Since people are moving on from that, what exactly do you want them to do? Buy EA?

Because Halo is getting a beta soon, that will do the advertising for this and Gears isn't at a stage where it can be shown. Am I missing anything? =p

Lol, what you did there, I see it :P

But yeah- they have Quantum Break, Fable Legends, Scalebound, Crackdown, an unknown new Rare game, Tomb Raider, and a new Forza for next year (the last one being pure speculation, but we've had a Forza game every year for the last four years now).

It would work out perfectly, both of them love to run developers into the ground.

Yep, and the EA label would lose their sports licenses overnight citing damages against lost sales for multiplatform releases. But, who am I to ruin the wet dreams of fanboys?

Nothing too noteworthy then. Fable will probably bomb, QB is hit or miss and I can't say I know anything about the other two.

I think the threat has been grossly overblown. Were MS to show actual strong leadership and keep Ensemble open or Bungie under their wing, I might have been as willing as most to give them the benefit of the doubt.

As things stand, almost every third party game out on their new platform has had to fall back on some contingency of either porting to PC or running back to the PS4. Ironically, the gaming consumer has more buying power than Microsoft ever will. Nothing proves that more than the immediate defensive Eidos was put on after the Tomb Raider announcement.

The only thing giving MS an advantage or even a voice is that people continue to believe in the perception they have infinite liquid assets to leverage. No one calls them out on their shit, not even Sony or Nintendo. That's why they continue to operate in the manner they do.

Because they don't think it is smart to release stuff together with Sony and Nintendo. That's why Sony keeps all their good stuff for their own event, Microsoft releases info when nothing else is being released and they are in the center of attention.

Microsoft having near infinite money does not = the Xbox division has near infinite money. The price drop to $350 with $100+ of free games bundled must have cost them a good amount of money already.

To answer TC- meh, I dunno.

Because they have nothing to show. They blew their load this e3 when they announced games that will be ready for 2016 at the earliest.

And lol at people thinking ms can buy everything, heres a question, if they can why dont they? Why dont they buy activision and make cod exclusive? Or buy rockstar and make gta exclusive?

Oh I know why, because the gaming division has a limited budget. Just because ms company has money doesnt mean the gaming division has access to it

Waiting for E3, probably. The REAL question is why didn't Bethesda Game Studios show up with a Fallout announcement. :(

lol so they decide not to show anything on a game awards show that not the much people care about and now they have no games to show? I think we all know MS has quote a few games coming next year and for 2016 and I'm sure they have games in the works they haven't even announced yet. It wasn't like they didn't show up for gamescom or e3, it's the video game awards that really holds no weight in the gaming community cause all these gaming websites is going to have their own video game awards anyways so just relax people, MS will be fine with gaming.

They have nothing to show. Only new announcement post-E3 so far has been a State of Decay port.

Lot of new Xbone owners are going to be very disappointed soon, if they aren't already.

Because they have nothing to really showcase.

The XBone looks to have the shittiest 2015 lineup by far. What is there to look forward to? Yet another Halo game that 343 is bound to **** up?

Quantum Break looks like Watch Dogs but with super powers instead of hacking abilities. The premise for Scalebound sounds interesting but we still have next to no information about it.

What are the other big exclusives set to drop for the XBone next year?

I hope Lems have fun playing nothing but Forza, Sunset Overdrive and the broken Master Flop Collection for the next 10-12 months. LOL

@charizard1605: They have their own agenda. With 28 exclusives and new IP's to announce, we'll just have to wait and see. Phil already said they have more games then they can release in 2015, so don't worry your little head off. I'm sure M$ will have their own "experience" next year.
