Because it's good for us (consumers)!!!!!!!

Face it, we wouldn't have price cuts today if there were no competition. Look at the Wii, no price cuts cause it's selling so well while in reality it's the most expensive console (in terms of what you get) out there.PS2 didn't get a price cut until Xbox (the original one) cut it's price. If Home were to do anything more than okay I bet that MS would have to lower their XLive fees (maybe to nothing?).

Recently because of PS3 capabilities MS greenlit the possibility for developers to use hard drive space for their games as a standard (sad news for core owners though). And would PS3 have gotten Home if it hadn't been for Xlive's success? I believe not.

Anyone agrees?

Actaully its quite true. I can't imagine what ms would do if it had complete monopoly over the console market.

Yep, intensecompetition is the only reason that both MS and Sony have cut their prices and furthered their losses per console sold.

Only for MMORPGs... and really those games need a hard drive anyway.

I don't believe MS takes losses per console anymore, but they sure as hell take losses when they need to implement a billion-dollar 3-year warranty plan because of RRoD.

:| price drops? If there was only one console, you'd only have to pay for one console. So you would get a much better bargain than from some crummy price drop.

yes but, because there was only one console, they could charge as much as they want, build it as crappy as they want, and make you buy all these peripherals and milk you to death as much as they wanted to. and people would still buy it.
