I am a huge xbox supporter but don't know why a gamer would want it. A casual player(ones how love mario party and the like) will probably like it but why would a core gamer want Kinect?

I haven't seen one thing that gets me the least bit excited. To top it off throw in a 150 dollar price tag. What is the deal?

To play games. Or use it's other features, such as being similar to a webcam, or voice control for the Xbox.

You do realize that motion controls existed years ago on the PC for some of the most hardcore games out there (flight sims)? You're just not seeing the potential.

I suppose if they found Kinect Supports or Dance Party appealing then they would get connect to play those games?

i can see the appeal and the potential of the technology, but I can't see a reason to pick it up at 150.

Why does your name look incredibly similar to another user's name? :S And the answer is TC - to play games.

I think a better use of this technology would be to make interactive movies, that way when you yell "Don't go in there girlfriend! He gonna kill you!", they might actually listen :P

Many 'Core' gamers want to have the means to access every piece of software available. There are games that are Kinect only, hence, some 'Core' gamers will want the Kinect. I certainly fall into that camp. That Star wars game just might be incredible.

Im a gamer, but first and foremost im a tech nerd... thats the reason i first got into gaming.

I actually enjoy building PCs and overclocking components trying to squeeze every fps out of a game more than i like playing the games. Kinect is cool technology which is what interests me, if i wasnt saving for a house I would have bought the damn thing in a heartbeat... but lately i have been pinching pennies along with my GF so we can buy a house.. so my PC is outdated, and i will probably be passing on kinect.

except it doesnt have a release date, or a gameplay footage, at the very least. they just threw it in to say 'Kinect is also for Core gamers!'. without it, what does Kinect have left to entice core gamers? nothing.

oh, and to the fanboys there saying that the voice recognition is a selling point, seriously. i didnt know people are so rich that they'd spend $150 just to not use buttons.

at least the Move showed Sorcery, and we already know that Socom 4 and Killzone 3 will support Move. why buy a peripheral out of excitement for something not even shown, or confirmed? i dont get it. that's like saying last year, "I will buy Natal because it can scan my skateboard and i can skate in a virtual world!" and a year later, that scanning feature was nowhere. huh.

This stuff is only the begining. I can see the potential of it 10 years from now then I see it as appealing.

Microsoft will need to show off some innovative uses to integrate Kinect with core games to get a core gamer truely interested.

There is limited appeal to me. Any games where the character is holding something, such as a sword or a gun, is really going to take me out of it. Bare fisted fighting games would be alright, but like I said any game where I feel like I'm supposed to be holding something will feel empty.

Considering your tone, you have some pretty big balls calling people 'fanboys'. And regarding Star Wars' launch, since when do you need a launch date to be excited about a game? Not to mention the fact that, in addition to Child of Eden and Forza, other Core games (Fable 3, and according to Konami, possibly MGS Rising) will utilize Kinect in some way or another. That's fine by me initially. And when I read interviews from the Doctors from Bioware how they invision the peripheral will be incorporated, my mind does the happy dance. If you don't like it, don't buy it. I don't see where all the hate comes from.

to be honest if fight night round 5 came out for kinect... ide buy the thing in a heartbeat. I would pay an ungodly amount of money for kinect.... because i think that would be a blast... it would also be an amazing workout.

You would realistically have to pace yourself, because instead of a stamina bar your own stamina would be on the line. If they tried to make it realistic and used weight classes and punching power based on the user's size it would be amazing. But if they made it so a 12 year old kid could beat me it would stink. Would need to be a hardcore boxing game.... my god i get boners just thinking about how fun a boxing game could be with kinect.

Fight Night was Kudo Tsunoda's brainchild, and he is now the head of Kinect development, so I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say that we will get SOME sort of boxing game for Kinect. And I know I'm going out on a limb here, but I bet that such a game would be more fun that the one they are releasing for the Move.

Why not?

It looks like it could be fun. I'm looking forward to playing the Michael Jackson game with it.

Why do people want iPhones? 3D TV's? Because it's revolutionary technology! I understand Kinect is only for the 360, but you are fooling yourselves if you think otherwise

The one thing I think allot of people are over looking is that what some say Kinects biggest downfall will be might actually end up being a huge saving grace. Where some wonder about how hardcore games will be played without a controller others realise that we already have controllers. Incorporating the standard xbox 360 controller into a kinect game will not only work for hardcore games but will effectively enhance them. Including the standard controller will allow for more control than ever before. Not only that but if kinect can track us then there is nothing to stop it from tracking the hand holding the controller. Grab your controller in one hand and wave it around using one the triggers as a trigger on a gun. How does that feel? Better still why not have seat on the couch with your control and drive a tank while your Buddy handles the turret by simulating those movements or vice verse. When it comes to controls there probably wont be many limitations. The wiimote and move are both limiting in there degree of control. As far as pricing goes I have a hunch Microsoft is already selling it a bit cheaper than than should and I cant honestly imagine paying less taking into account it is a completely new technology as far as entertainment goes and no it is not the same as the eye toy because it is not an over priced web cam with ancient motion tracking capabilities. It is not a wiimote and it is not move. This is a technology that we can expect to see in many places other than the gaming and entertainment environment. Anyways sorry for that long winded opinion and I could be very wrong but heres hoping right :-)
