Why are you calling next xbox : xbox 720? The 720? Umm... It's because when you see it you will turn away then back again then around then....ummm I don't know why they would call it that either.
I call it the Xbox 3, but without knowing the name it's hard to blame people for calling it the Xbox 720. I remember when people were calling the (then unnamed) 360 the "Nextbox".

They consumers call it the XBox 720 because the previous one is called the 360. Will it be called the 720? There is no way in the world it will be. It's just a monicker given to the next XBox console. You're taking it too seriously.
If you want us to call it the XBox 3 sure we could but again I highly doubt the end product will be called the XBox 3.
Of course, it being an unofficial temporary term to made by the media and community in order to express the idea of the next xbox has nothing to do with it, right?
Xbox 720 just sounds like it continues a pattern. They actually had all this planned out from the beginning. The original Xbox was the Xbox 0 in reality, the first of many circles. ;)
I'm surprised I don't see more of the "360 degrees, ur back where u started hur hur!!" on here actually. 720 would just b asking for more of it, even if it does sound cool. I mean... "hur hur, now you've gone round twice and r still back where u started!" It's asking for it. 8)
its xbox720 because we aren't marketing execs and we really just want a term to refer to a future ms console....so lets not bother arguing about it....ms will give us a real name eventually.

what else they gonna call it ? 720 is a CODE NAME. like the nintendo Revolution. before they called it a wii.
Xbox 720 would mean it has made two complete revolutions... it could make sense, another time around the circle of media, done by making better, superior content compared to this generation?
