Wii 2 Officially Confirmed for 2012

Nintendohas just confirmed the existence of the all powerfulWii 2. It will actually be demonstrated at this year's E3 and more info about the system will be released during that time. Below is a press release fromNintendostating that the console will release in 2012.

I don't know, a one-year head start seemed to help the 360 A LOT. Nintendo will have at least two.

I've only had my Wii for 8 months now, so it would be sudden for me to jump ship to their new system; but I'm sure many will gladly take the dive. I'll probably wait a year or two. Should be great though. Have too many Wii and Gamecube games to catch up on before moving onto their new system. Way too many.

If it is confirmed for 2012, then that could mean Oct/Nov of 2012, essentially 2013. In that case, it is possible that the other two are around only a year behind.

Then once the next PS and Xbox come out, the Wii2 is golden.

I think I know why "N" feels the need to do this but I dunno if it will work out so well for them if MS & Sony decide the best way to beat them is to keep their consoles around even longer & now withsuperior motion control and putting some super pressure on "N" by selling millions more at the super, super low price they'll be able to offer the 360 & PS3 whilst the new "N" console will need to be priced sky high by comparison :o

Either that or I'd expect MS to make a move on their new console real quick. :shock:

I hope it is noticeably (not expecting something extreme) stronger than PS3 and 360 are, so it doesnt look too distant from the 720 and PS4 in 3 years or so. But either way, it all comes down to the games.

I'm glad... Maybe now MS and Sony will hurry up and get new consoles out. Tired of waiting.

It basically need to be powerful enough to handle 720 and PS4 ports without any real hassle. Sort of like how the PS2/Xbox and Gamecube did.
