Figured Wii couldn't last very long this just confirms it I guess Nintendo plans on releasing a new system every 3 years or so oh well you get what you pay for I suppose.
This topic is locked from further discussion.
The next-gen systems are worked on before the current gens are released. You'd be a fool to think that Sony and Microsoft don't already have their next-gen systems far along in development.
I would like for this generation to last until 2014-2015. Unless they find something better than polygons we don't need more consoles.
their conffernce would be so much better if they announced it at E3http://www.incgamers.com/News/13392/Wii-2-Confirmed-By-Nintendo

The Wii was in development since 2001 if I remember correctly, Wii 2 will probably fall down the same path. Do not expect Nintendo's next console until Microsoft and Sony make their next move forward.Stevo_the_gamer
You have to remember tho Wii is not a next generation system its last generation so Wii 2 is probably going to be this generation with graphics like 360/PS3
meh, I already made the mistake of buying a wii 1
I'd like to think I'm not going to waste money on a wii 2...but I know I probably will

Xbox360 and PS3 aren't next gen systems. They're all current generation.

[QUOTE="air_wolf_cubed"]i disagreegen =/= graphics. Gen is timeframe. Sorry buddyits also current gen. like 360/PS3Ace132
Um am I missing something? All the link said was that the console was already in development stages... what the hell did people expect? For them to work on it a month before the date of its release?StealthSting

It's a current gen system with last gen-like hardware.
You're an idiot if you don't think Microsoft and Sony are currently deep in development on their next-gen consoles.
Nickman71
The fact that Microsoft and Sony don't mention it unless its in the very sort distance away and Nintendo already said it would be very affordable makes me think its coming out shortly they usually don't even mention a new system until its a year or 2 from coming out but I could be wrong.

What a foolish thing to say.
That would be 11 years for the 360 and a decade for the wii/ps3. Picture yourself playing on a 10 year old computer for a second and answer truthfully if you really want to see a new gen start in 7 years....
That doesn't make sense. Why would Nintendo want to release a new system so soon when they can't even meet demand for their current system, despite producing far more units than their competitors combined? Hexagon_777
Well thats kinda the trend Nintendo sets it goes through its big named games than it comes out with a new system. As soon as wii sales slow down I can see them coming out with a new system to be on the graphics level of the PS3 and 360.
Wii 2 huh? Hopefully the technology will be better the second time around...wassup432
I'm sure it will be better. People forget: Nintendo didn't expect Wii to be a run away success. NO ONE DID. They made money with the GC, and the impression I got before the Wii release was that they were expecting to gain just a little more than their GC audience.
They didn't want to compete graphic wise because it was fruitless last time. So they took the controller route.

I bet Wii 2 will be state-of-the-art technology, and once again fanboys will be playing musical chairs next gen.[QUOTE="Hexagon_777"]That doesn't make sense. I was going to ignore this thread completely as standard ignorant drivel, but this really raised the bar.
Your citing "Nintendo's trend" as if they've released a new console every 2 or 3 years. Surely you realize that Nintendo has followed the standard cycle that Sega and Sony have for years - 5 to 6 years.
Just what trend are you referring to? Are you referring to anything factual at all?

I bet Wii 2 will be state-of-the-art technology, and once again fanboys will be playing musical chairs next gen.I would be surprised. I think Nintendo likes the strategy of keeping the architecture similar (like Wii is to GC) to keep game development costs low and attractive to 3rd party. I bet they will be on par with 360 or PS3, but probably not better.
This proves nothing. All companies make plans for the future. If you think they don't decide on this stuff till they anounce it at E3 your horribly mistaken.http://www.incgamers.com/News/13392/Wii-2-Confirmed-By-Nintendo

If I recall, Nintendo spoke of plans of a new system back when the Gamecube was only a couple years old.
Smart companies always plan for the future.

I know you're a nintendo fanboy,so advancing in technology might be a little foreign for you,but for most people,it's a good thing.
I bet Wii 2 will be state-of-the-art technology, and once again fanboys will be playing musical chairs next gen.Bigboi500You'd have to be a fool to believe Nintendo would go with that approach. Here's what I think Nintendo will do: the technology will be there most likely comparable to maybe the Xbox 360/PS3, that way the costs will be low which will allow the Wii 2 to maximize profits right off the start for Nintendo. And Nintendo is not afraid to release hardware that is laughable when compared to the competitors.
If Nintendo wanted state of the art technology, they'd have to pay quite the price which may hurt them at first. Nintendo doesn't want to sell at a loss, they're a very smart company and have a lot of people glued to their system.

or they could go the ps2 rout and have technology that is somewhat comparable to it's competitors but not exactly as strong. You'd have to be a fool to believe Nintendo would go with that approach. I'll ignore the obvious flame bait and just say I disagree. Last gen Nintendo made sure they had a powerful system just like generations before that. I think they knew that pushing hardware in a transitional period would be an up-hill battle.Next gen HDTV's will be the standard and with a superior control system AND top notch hardware it's all win. I know next gen Sony and Microsoft will have some sort of Wii-type controller but Nintendo will be one step ahead as usual and have one even better.
Nintendo has always been king of the consoles.

Then don't BUY a next gen console at release and wait until 2014-2015 to get one and ride out your current gen console until then. 2011 tech should allow for full time 1080p graphics. Tech changes too quickly to wait much more than 5 years between machines.I would like for this generation to last until 2014-2015. Unless they find something better than polygons we don't need more consoles.
