Here is a 3rd party sales chart comparing the 3 consoles in their first 15 months of lifecycle...

I don't understand that chart and with the bad explanation (more like no explanation) on kotaku. I would rather go by each publishing companies quarterly result.
and sure lets just post NPD (US) numbers, because clearly US is the only place on earth games sells.
Dude, you just left yourself open for punishment. Charts mean nothing in SW unless they're coming from GS or the console companies themselves, and you never see such charts, so you deserve whatever you're getting ready to endure
BTW, I'm sure those can't be the numbers
Yeah but have you seen some of those games you talk about:
AMF bowling
Barbie: The island princess
Brunswick Pro Bowling
Carnival Games
Disney Princess: Enchanted Journey
Disneys' Meet the Robinsons
Disney's Chicken Little Ace in Action
Go Diego Go: Safari Rescue
Go Diego Go: Great Dinosaur Rescue
The list goes on and on, if you make a lot of crap there will be a lot cheaper games that parents will pick up for their kids to play
The Wii is the greatest babysitter ever! PERIOD !
Can I see that without all the shovelware?SSCyborg
If your suggesting that the reason third parties are having so much success on the Wii is because of Shovelware then I would have to disagree.
And I think we can now all say that Third Party Games don't sell on Playstation.

It's not going to get better even if you look at worldwide sales. In Japan, the Wii is dominating the other two consoles. In Europe, it appears that Wii games are charting more than 360 and PS3 games.
Um... what kind of source do you have? All of the NPD monthly sales are dominated by Xbox 360, PS3, and first party wii games.insanejedithe one thats in his post?

Okami sold less than 500k. Sonic and Mario at the Olympics is what? 10m+?

Not really. You know that NPD tracks outside of the top 10, right?
Plus, you have games like Guitar Hero 3 on the Wii that outsells the other versions. So no, the NPD monthly sales are not dominated by Xbox 360 or the PS3. The Wii has been dominating both since December.

Okami sold better on the Wii than on the PS2 with 1/4th the install base :)

I'm not saying its going to get better, i just think they should add more regions.
This chart is pointless. Ofcourse the system that is getting loads of shovelware is going to have most third party sales.
Um.. are those launchs aligned? So that is xbox 360 19 months after release. Meaning 2006 holiday.
So that wouldn't include stuff like GTA4, CoD4, Assasins Creed, Guitar Hero 3 or Rock Band.. but it would include all the Wiis largest 3rd party games from 2007 holiday..
It doesn't matter what games sell great. It matters what games are worth buying.darklord888
'Nuff said. Sales do not make games good

wow just no.well.. the graph clearly supports his point. For that time period the PS3 wasn't doing so hot.
well in japan it by far sell the most for a home console and we dont get european numbers so thats 2/3 where we know wii sells the most 3rd party titlesI don't understand that chart and with the bad explanation (more like no explanation) on kotaku. Note: This most likely includes Ninjabread man and cooking mama. Also, this compares the first year sales of each platform, so Nintendo choose a period that favors their console, clever marketing that will give the fanboys smiles. Apparently, the TC didn't read the article.hamidiousyep the first 15 months....oh wait thats its whole life

with what you said you clearly dont know anything about graphs. That chart includes their 1st party titles... And I would have to see some raw data from each company before I'd give this too much credit... The 360 sells a **** load of software each month.. It has the highest attach ratio.. But if this chart only tracks a certain time period then It may be more legit. OhSnapitz
No there is a seperate one with 3rd party saleso nly an the wii won.

BINGO.
The huge uptick in the Wii's sales corresponds to Guitar Hero III, its biggest 3rd party seller. That uptick is about 3 times bigger on the Xbox 360, only you don't see that because it happened at the Xbox's 23rd month which isn't on the chart. They also don't show the 360/PS3's uptick for GTAIV or COD4 which are both even bigger than GHIII...
