Wii's Dead Space may get Extracted to 360, PS3

Dead Space 2 is already scheduled for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 early next year, and the whole point of Dead Space: Extraction was to provide an experience to the wide userbase of the Wii in a way that best took advantage of the Wii's control scheme. However, in a huge blow to the current Wii-exclusive, the Dead Space 2 panel at PAX East mentioned that gamers should keep their "ears peeled" for an announcement regarding porting Extraction to other platforms.

Could this be in response to Extraction sales on the Wii? Or perhaps the advent of motion control on the PS3 and 360 allowed for an easy port of the game while also providing gamers with their beloved HD detail? Again, no direct answer was given to the question of a port, but it seems very little that it will happen at some point.

It's an on-rails shooter, just need a guncon and you are set, move is unneeded.

I doubt it will sell any better on the HD systems than on the Wii.

Still, I hope it finds an audience. Despite being a light gun game, it is extremely good, well voiced with lots of nice cinematics. It will be good for as many people as possible to experience the prequel :)

Will it be a true port or will they take the game off the rails and switch things up a bit?

Even if sales were good I could still see it getting ported. EA is a third party company after all.

I highly doubt fans of the 360 and PS3 want this game anymore than Wii fans did. I love Dead Space and have a Wii and PS3. I honestly couldn't care less about Extraction. Why would I buy an on-rails shooter when what I WANT is eithera REAL Dead Space for Wii, similar to RE4, or DS2 for PS3?

That is a good point would 360 and PS3 gamers even want to play an On-rail shooter. I think one of the reason it and RE:UC2 did so poorly is there has already been so many on rail games on the Wii.

Youre exactly right, but it is a shame. Had the gameplay been what people were expecting, perhaps more would have experienced the story. Still, Dead Space Extraction is a very good game, much much different from House of the Dead Overkill and Darkside Chronicles. If youre a fan of Dead Space, I suggest you try and check it out if you havent already. Unfortunately, it seems this game was made only for fans of the first. And odd decision on EA's part, considerring its status as a new IP, to put it on the Wii.

Its actually an extremely good game, despite the on-rails gameplay. Luckily, I can play all and every Dead Space game. I wouldnt choose one over the other. Its an IP Im going to follow as closely as some traditional ones.

I actually really enjoyed this game. Itlooked great, had some great voice acting, and played great. It was a very unique rail shooter, it felt like alot of effort went into it. Of course, i also think it's ridiculous that this was the only DS effort on the wii.

I thought we had confirmation months ago that this was heading to the 360? or was that just a rumour back then too.

Extremely good gameplay compared to other on rail shooters or shooters in general? Becouse i spent a lill over 2h on this game and hated it badly but Dead Space on ps360/pc is my fav new IP of this gen.

Cool, I guess. I'm upset with the more action-orientated direction that Dead Space 2 is taking, though.

The on rails gameplay was more tactical than most, the alternative firing really helped, and the minigames added variety to what you were doing. I felt there could have been a greater variety, however, but the weapons packed punch, and finding all of the upgrades was quite addictive. The graphics and lighting were very good, except for some noticable low resolution textures when viewed up close, but that is easily overlooked. The character models and enemies were very good too, and the whole thing felt very natural next to the original Dead Space, which is an achievement in and of itself. The voice acting and storyline were up to par compared to the original, too, and hearing the crackling Wii Remote speaker sound out audio logs was a very nice touch. Add in a pretty compelling swarm mode type thing, and you have quite a bit of replay action. I meant an extremely good game compared to others in the same genre, such as Darkside Chronicles and House of the Dead Overkill. The Wii has had a flood of the bloody things recently, but Extraction managed to hold its own, at least in terms of a quality experience. Its a shame you hated it, but I can understand why going into it from Dead Space. Fortunately, the sequel seems just around the corner, so its not like Extraction has caused the IP to suffer. I am glad I managed to enjoy both within their limits :)

Dead Space 1 was pretty action orientated, to be honest. It wasnt really psychologically scary. Granted, it was less action heavy than Resident Evil 5, but you probably have the setting to thank for that.

I think most gamers got a wii like ZIMdoom. The devs have this idea stuck in their head that the wii audience is very different from other consoles but i doubt that is the problem at all. Even if gamers don't have a wii, they would have one by now (years have past) if the games were somehow attractive enough to lay down the money. What i think is the real problem, is that Extraction was competing with Dead Space original, and people rather got that one.

Um. EA, just becuase a game is on the PS3 or 360 doesn't mean it's gonna be good. It's rail shooter. Not a lot of people like those anymore

Makes me wonder if that's the reason why Nintendo is not making a Star Fox Wii.

What would have made this game worth while for the Wii is if they made it a FPS.

Then again there was NO EXCUSE for EA to not make a 3rd Person Shooter Game like Resident Evil.

I've played Dead Space for the 360 and I can easily see this happening on the Wii and yet EA screwed it up by making a On-Rails Shooter. I hate that Developers make these games and call them "Mature"!

I'm pretty sure Bioshock or Half Life would indeed be considered more "mature" than railshooter. Dumb term though imo.
