Do you think the WII failed this gen :?

Biased Poll. The options are that it failed or the voter only cares about sales or is an uber fanboy.
And no it didn't fail.
The only thing which fails is judging a Console not even halfway into its life cycle.
The thing which fails is the Thread maker for creating such bad flamebait thread.
Depends on whos eyes you are looking through.
Through my eyes, and alot of gamers that really expected N to come out swinging like the other systems, with hi-res graphics, Dolby Digital sound, maybe dvd/music cd playback, intense games that the other systems are getting(like GOW, Bioshock, and others like them), and friendcodes(just to be alittle picky), yes the wii failed.
To N and other companies that look at sales, it is a HUGE success, as well as getting to the hands of the true casuals, it also succeeded.
It's GREAT for NINTENDO, it's great for the NEW AUDIENCE, but it's not so great for Hardcore Nintendo fans from Yesteryear.
At this point, TWO years in, the Gamecube delivered more to those fans.
However, the GAMECUBE wasn't great for Nintendo, so I don't blame them.

it doesn't matter whether it's halfway. people buy it today. so todays status matters a lot!

Well how can you farily judge the system? You cannot! Developers where slow to support the Console because everyone put their eggs in PS360 basket. Sales are good. 1st party support is strong though generally aimed at everyone but still supports Die hard fans (Disaster: Day of crisis). The only time when you can say "Yes it was" or "No it was not" is more towards the end of the Consoles life cycle.
Even thought I dont like the Wii and Nintendo's new gaming ideas, I have to say the Wii is not a failure. It suceeded in doing what Nintendo actually wanted it to do, which is appeal to nongamers and casuals.
The gaming lineup may be horrible with a few gems here and there, but who cares? Casuals dont.
You should not let the Wii's success affect you because it does not appeal to most here.

Couldn't agree more. The Wii cemented gaming into casual's with Wii sports. But other than that, I must say there hasn't really been much reason to own one if your into gaming.
In my opinion, the Wii has not failed. It brought a completely new and different way of gaming to the playing field (that I'm sure will improve as time goes on) and it had a pretty solid collection of games in its first year. And while I agree there is a large drought in between where there are little to no games to be played at this time, I have total faith that there will be another solid collection of games in the future that will be just as good as the last.
Sure, it's easy to be kicking the Wii now while it's in the worst state it's been in since launch, but all you need is a game or two of high interest and hype and people will be singing a completely different tune.

Exactly. Where's the option for "No because it delivered what I wanted from it, different styles of games that are fun to play, instead of 90 thousand sequels"
Yes, it failed to keep my attention. I don't care about sales.heretrix
It needs more good games and it failed 100%
Third party is lacking imo:(

If you owned a GC you should know what to expect in terms of 3rd party games. Even the N64 did not have that much support from 3rd party games.
has failed for me.
I sold my Wii, just a few games to play and thats it.
Good thing = Wii shortage = I got a nice price for selling my Wii

I owned a PS2 so my situation is different
Meh console wars is for fanboys and screwballs who have no better way to waste their time. There will always be people who think one is the best and all the others sucks, it all a matter of opinion, I find it only produces negative thoughts and feelings toward the opposing systems. Each systems has pros and cons until they make a perfect system SHUT UP! :D
we need another master system

Why?
The way I look at Nintendo this generation is different that most of you on here do.
As a owner of a Ps3 and 360 and Wii I feel that the Wii is a awsome sysetem and the reason is is simply that it is different than the other systems i own. If it were similar to the other 2 it would not stand out to me. The same thing with the Ds and Psp. I have them and I think the ds did a great job becuase it is different than the Psp.
I do not think that the Wii is better than the 360 (I do think its better than the Ps3 but thats a whole new topic)
The point is if Wii is your ONLY system then yes it sucks for you cuase you made the wrong choice. But it is a awsome secondary system.
O and by the way here is my Wii recomendation list for anyone who wants to know what is good on the wii.
1. Zelda (duh)
2. SMG (duh)
3. Metroid 3
4. No more heroes (AWSOME GAME!!!)
5. Smash Bros
6. Mario Kart
7. Wii fit (Im a workout nut and that game ripped me out hardcore in just 60 days ^^ fan boys knock it if you will but your not ripped like i am im sure lol)
8. Paper Mario
9. Fire Emblem (Hard as hell be warned lol)
And Also I recomend the following downloadables:
1. Final Fantasy CC little king
2. Mario RPG the 7 stars
3. Lost Winds (awsome game!!)
4. Ninja Gaiden 3
(and about 30 other downloads now im just getting lazy lol)
So while its not the 360 (My fav system this gen) it still has some really good stuff. I really do not get how people do not see that. Anyway good luck with your mindless bashing ^^
