And what I mean by that is games that shoot for an art style will look better then the games that go for photo realism ten years from now. Mario Galaxy, DKCR, Kirby EY, Metroid Prime 3 etc. will always...ALWAYS will look good. Assasin's Creed, Call of Duty and the like will age quickly and look bad in a few years from now. What i've learned from this genereation: Nintendo Always Knows What They're Doing...Trust Them.

Well, lemme just put aside graphics and note that in ten years, Mario, DKC Returns, New Super Mario Bros Wii, etc will be "those awesome games I grew up with" and "those fun games I remember" to an entire generation. People will forget about Modern Warfare 2, Killzone, and even Halo ODST and Halo Reach, because there isn't a single thing those games do that FPSs in the future won't be able to do better. I think Portal and the first Modern Warfare will be remembered because those games were phenomenons in their time.

On pure artstyIe, yes, Wii games (at least the first party ones) will be timeless. One needs only to look at Metroid Prime and The Wind Waker to see how well Nintendo games age graphically.

Team ICO is anoher developer whose games always look good. Also, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Okami, Mirror's Edge and some others are games that will always be timeless, games that will age really well graphically.

Yep, i'm agree, games like SMG, DCKR and even TP has some amazing artstyle, however saying that Wii>PS3/360 in that department is wrong, sure there are bland games like GEOW and Killzone, but there are also games like Bayonetta and Prince of Persia with amazing art style.

yeah, because HD system have no games with artstyle

I'm pretty sure they'll all look better than any Wii game if we look back to them in the future thanks to the higher resolution. Yeah I do get your point with photo realism, but c'mon, you can't just asume only the Wii has games with art****/p>

True. It's amazing how much an art styIe can mean to a game, I really want Kirby's Epic Yarn because of its cool artistic design, but I don't think I would have the time to finish it over other games. I really want to try it some day though.

Yeah and your right it's not just Nintendo that makes timeless graphics. There should be more games like Nuts and Bolts that take advantage of both art and hardware. It takes something special though...Kinect Sports, while it doesn't aim for photo realism, will not age well at all. I don't know I think Nintendo was right. Video games, while capable, weren't really ready for HD. Nintendo saw that.

Yeah, good artstyIe ultimately matters more than photorealism, I think. I mean, let's look at a game like Shadow of the Colossus- it looks stunning, on the sheer basis of its incredible artsyIe. Or The Wind Waker. Dear God, The Wind Waker has to be one of the best looking games ever created. Or we could look at any SNES era game and compare it with N64 era games, and see how well the former have aged in comparision to the latter graphically. I really want to play Kirby too- unfortunately, not having a Wii right not, coupled with a backlog of thousands upon thousands of games to play through means that I probably never will, and that makes me sad :(

Your right, all I'm saying is that's it's their specialty. I was just pointing out the last first party attempt they had for realism was Twilight Princess, and even that had a distinct art style to it.

I completely agree with you in this regard, but several of the PS3 and 360 games have great artistic style like Valkyria.

Making games that you'll remember is still Nintendo's specialty and I don't feel that they get enough credit for that from the PS3/360 fanboys.

what you are arguing is visuals, not graphics.

EDIT: and you are also implying that there are no games on the 360/ps3 that are artistically stunning as well, which is also false.

They are dead inside. They don't count.

Also, to be honest, I don't really get this whole art styl3 = colors trend. Your game can have colors and be cartoony or your game can be brown and gray. I prefer colorful games and I do think they age better, but saying "art styl3" instead of color is pretentious and kind of dumb.

Nintendo Games rarely age well, you look at Oot,Super Mario 64 and Golden Eye they look pretty bland.

The only Nintendo game that has aged well is

RE1 remake for the GC.

But they only do because the N64 had better graphics than PS. The same thing people said about Yoshi's Island and other games on SNES like Chrono Trigger , now they look so ugly with pixelated sprites.

Back then, teenagers kept saying that the PS had better graphics than the Nintendo 64 because they were more realistic and had a crapload of full motion videos and pre-rendered backgrounds. Plus, the N64 was teh kiddy. And so was the Gamecube because it looked like a lunch box.

It may be nostalgia, but I think OoT still looks great.

yeah, because HD system have no games with artstyle
