Well, No More Heroes was actually a Wii game whereas SSBB was a GameCube game in disguise. IMO SSBB shouldn't even have been considered for that reason.

GS really must not like SSBB all that much. On the other hand, they sure do LOVE Burnout.

I agree. Don't get me wrong I love Brawl, I've probably spent like 100 hours playing that game, but it's just an updated version of Melee. Not GOTY material. While NMH is an original game made specifically for Wii. You can hate it for it's flaws, but I can't think of a Wii game more deserving.

I'm not sure that NMH deserves it, but I would definitely rate it above Brawl.

Well, NMH was the only Wii game to get a GOTY nom this year so you can't say you're completely surprised.

Critically, Brawl has an average rating of 93% where as No More Heroes has an average rating of 83%. Maybe some critics gave it with the hype, I don't know... this year's best of awards have been a joke to me, so believe what you will people.

GS wants to be controversial this year. I seems to me they randomly hand pick these winners.

I'd have to say that if a game receives AA, it's really not "hate". ;)

SSBB is a rehash of the gamecube game, with online so bad, you would wish it wasn't there....a crappy single player mode (the subspace emissary). And they also somehow managed to ruin some of the characters from Melee.

SSBB doesn't even deserve to be a nominee. I might be too harsh considering how much they ruined my fave character Falco.

It's not broken, it's just not polished. Really only outside of the missions. The actual gameplay is great if you like hack n slashes.

How is the game Borken?

On any final attack you can swing the remote any which way and it will respond accordingly. In the city you can be 10 feet away from another car and your motorcycle will still go flying. Just calling it broken is being nice. I didn't even mention the R word, "repetitive"!

Which part do you disagree with? The game having poor collision detection or the final attack being broken? And I'm glad you agree it's repetitive.

That's like me laughing because your dog is green. And then you say, "A lot of other dogs aren't green?" Which means we've both come to the conclusion you're in possession of a green dog and now you're using the remaining green dog population in your poor pup's defense.

Yes, I played the game. It was the sole reason why I bought my wii. I had people that worked in my store hold my wii until 2 days b4 it's release. I bought the strategy guide, and read it b4 playing, then when I played it I wanted to light my eyes on fire. Especially the torture that is called the subspace emissary. I struggled on my day off to beat it within 10 hrs of on and off sleeping and playing.

After I unlocked everyone, I went to place online, and it was sooooo terrible. I called one of my coworkers to play a game with me, since I said I would kick his butt with falco......after practicing with falco I realized how much they tweaked him, and ruined him for me, so I tried to learn someone else. I chose Sonic, and when we went online, the lag was so bad that I couldn't even tell if I was playing a game of a watching a still shot slideshow. I got off online, and could even bring myself to play the game since then, I had to force myself a few times though. Then when a friend offered me $350 for my wii, and SSBB. I almost threw the system at him. (I might want to buy a wii again for the tales of symphonia though), but because you play the game all the time doesn't make it good >_< Anyway, everyone is entitled to an opinion.

He was slowed down, plus the fact that instead of the regular infinite kicks he had, he does this stupid wing spinning. He was more like Fox in Melee, and that was what I liked about him, I guess I will have to go back to the good ol' days in melee with Fox vs. Falco & no items/weapons.

I guess with all the talk about online in brawl, I got over excited, and I couldn't wait to play in some fast paced fights with my good old falco who I felt like I had mastered in melee. But after they changed his tempo, and some of his moves, I was severely thrown off. The bad online I could deal with since I was used to inviting some of my friends and holding SSBM tournaments at my place. But the subspace emissary was utterly pointless/shallow to me. I got my friend into the game online, I was beating the punching bag, and the frame rate was good, then when he joined in, and also 2 other random people joined, the game went straight to he11. I tried playing a few more times after that, and when people joined my games, the framerate got so slow, I had to quit.

You know...No More Heroes was a breath of fresh air to the Wii.

SSBB was an amazing game but the online was so messed up i only managed to play ONCE!

No More Heroes, although it lacked a lot of things, it had an awesome story, a sence of black humor, a great iconic character and it was action packed. I mean even the bosses were NOT what you expected. It was such an enjoyable ride and you can count on No More Heroes 2 to correct all those mistakes by gathering information from the gamers feedback!

I say this now:

NO MORE HEROES 2 will be a game to be remembered and it will get an 9.0 or above! With what i have seen in No More Heroes, a sequel has so many things to improve that are also damn easy to improve, it will be a mystery how it can flop!

NO MORE HEROES 2......i want it NOW!

Falco is much more unique and awesome than he was in Melee, and he's still top-tier. You want Fox, just use Fox. :?

I'm a Wolf guy myself. :D

On-Topic: NMH is great and all, but that's just wrong. People will not be playing NMH 5 years from now.

[QUOTE="Tulak_Hord"]

Agreed completely. They ruined Falcon.

They did ruin Falcon.

Loved NMH. Take THAT Super Smash Trash. Now to complete the justice Braid should win GOTY.

I have both and played both I would agree with Gamespot I had more fun with No More Heroes but No More Heroes is my 3rd favorite Wii game and 2nd favorite game released in 2008 right behind MGS4.
