the consoles do the upscaling. Wii games only support 480p. ChiefFreeman
No, televisions can upscale from 480p to 1080.
I just repurchased a Wii and tried playing Resident Evil remake on my Sony 32 incher. Man, it looks A-W-F-U-L. All the Gamecube games do, and most of the Wii titles as well. Being an HDTV owner, I feel totally cheated now. i want upscaled Resident Evil titles for Wii! Do the component cables improve picture quality siginificantly over audio video cables? I wish there was a way to make it look better. Nintendo should have seen this coming with HDTV adoption increasing.ChiefFreeman
you think 32 is ugly, i tried my wii on my 50 plus inch tv and it was horrible. omg the jaggies on the game, on the brightside, the colors improved

I have had Component cables for the GAMECUBE and the Wii when they were available.
The Wii Component Cables, I don't see much of a difference, but you do gain Widescreen Support. Sorry, That's my observation.
I have NEVER had Wii owning friends come over and say ANYTHING about my $50 Component Cables for my Wii, but when they've seen my PS3 or 360 on, the Compliments do flood in (EVEN from Fellow PS3/360 Owners.).

The Base Signal is still horrid. You need to do more research in HD before suggesting otherwise.
we arent talking about the base signal.

yup televisions do the upscaling since televisions are the ones that are displaying the image / picture
the televisions do all the polygons and textures since televisions are the ones that are displaying the image / picture
that's it. I've had it. If I can;t have Wii games that look nice on my 1080p set (like Re 4, my favorite) then I'm not going to own a Wii anymore. I'm putting it up on Craigslist. I'm so disgusted wirth Nintendo.ChiefFreeman
wow, this is image nostalgia heaven.
Just because something doesnt look nice it doesnt mean you should sell it.

Of course it does, and that was a poor analogy. Games are VISUAL, and the blurry ugly SD visuals on an HDTV ruin the experience. In this case, it ruined it for me. It's one of my faovrite games.
Component cables do help a little[/Actually, they help a whole lot. any 480i input looks like poo on an HDTV (see standard TV for more proof) not just Wii. 480p is a massive improvement, most notably on games like Metroid Prime 3.

You should be disgusted with yourself! Why do you NOT know the Wii does not do HD? Who told you it did?
i have a 46" 1080p samsung
the wii looked horrible on it with normal cables, but i bought a component cable (surprisingly hard to find!) and it makes a huge difference
i've even been playing old gamecube games like pikmin, and they look ok too
but lately i've generally been playing catchup with gaming, and playing a lot of old classics that i missed during my childhood .. so maybe i'm just good at adjusting to dated graphics?
Actually all console games look horrible on hdtv's - only pc games run natively at 1080p 60 fps and 4xAAanshul89
Why don't you play some console games before commenting on that?
i'll give the component cables a try.ChiefFreeman
Are you kidding me you never had them in the first place? Theres your problem
I've been doing research, and apparently most people who bought the component cables saod the image quality is improved. i don't expect them tp upscale like Xbox games on the 360, but if it's enough of an improvement to notice with the nakid eye, I'll give them a shot. I don't mind being able to see some jaggies, as long as the edges are crisper, and the image more colorful. unfortunately Re rermake and zero weren;t progressive scan, so there's nothing I can do about those 2 other than buy a SDTV again.ChiefFreeman
The image gets a tad bit crisper with Components but they're not going to blow you away... Especially if you own a PS3 or a 360. I own SMG (arguably the best looking wii title) and I have an HDTV ect.. It still looked blah... (did enjoy the water levels though). Do yourself a favor and erase any trace of "good looking wii games" out of your mind before you continue to play the system.
