Wii is the only true console left -- PS3, 360 and PC just need to merge

Reading the PC fanboys brag about Crysis makes me laugh. They are hellbent on proving that the PC is still a superior machine. But lost in this stupidity is that cross-platform games such as Bioshock, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect (yes lemmings, it will eventually port to the PC) all look terrific and are not games you would complain about the graphics. PC fanboys are so desperate to justify a $500+ Nvidia 8800 video card, the latest quad core processor, they forget that the gameplay is what matters and are instead obsessed with how realistic a corpse on their monitor looks after shooting it.

But I also laugh at the lemmings and cows who trash the Wii and brag about their high-tech systems that Microsoft and Sony are losing their rear ends on trying to sell at a price that people will actually buy it at, because both of those systems are loaded with hardware that would be pricey ona PC. Sony has a freaking Blu-Ray player, Xbox has an HDDVD attachment, and both are deadset on being multimedia centers. Both have high speed internet connections now, hard drives, why not just drop the charade and connect a freaking keyboard to your systems??? Because that's all you are now, a PC gaming device.

PS3, 360 and PC just need to merge into some uber PC gaming system because that's all they really are. Yes, Wii is the last living console. It's cheap. It's simple. It's still loaded with franchise exclusives that won't exist anywhere else. It actually tries to evolve gameplay with the Wii-Mote and make a next-gen console feel like... get that... a next-gen console! It's family-oriented which believe it or not used to be the common theme with consoles.

you have a valid point but I still like the 360 and ps3. It's like a pc but its cheaper and more accessible. It's a little bit worse, but it is still a great compromise.

The wii has contributed some great elements to the development of video games. I'm sure that perhaps in the future pcs will be integrated into homes for everything and companies like nintendo will just make weird attachments and controllers that connect to those pcs. ie vr. But for now, even thoughthe direction of ps3 and 360 is perhaps misguided it is a fine advancement for the duration of this gen

true PC/PS3/360 are interchangeable. You can play mostly the same games on them (although the PS3 versions of these games tend to suck). It all comes down to the exclusives you want. I chose PC but i can understand why people would choose the 360. It all depends on whether you want Starcraft/Crysis or Ninja Gaiden 2/Halo 3the_h_bomb

You're buying your system for either Starcraft, Halo 3, or Ninja Gaiden 2.It seems like every game with cutting edge graphics is released as almost the identical version on PS3, 360 and PC now. Wii is the only one that forces a game to change.Sometimes simply because it has less specs, but also to accomodate the Wii-Mote. People shouldn't trash the Wii for having less specs. That's what a console is supposed to be. A cheaper, simpler, more family oriented version of PC gaming. PS3 and 360 have evolved to the point where they might as well merge with PC gaming. There's really not much of a difference between those two systems now. Even the PS2 had an optional keyboard last gen, and most PC games now offer a 360 controller layout.

But it's funny how after Will Wright said that, a few lemmings were saying how he doesn't know what he's talking about, how he makes casual games, and how his credibility went "down the pan." By the end of this generation, I wonder if ANYBODY will have any credibility in the eyes of the haters.

Finally some one with the truth. The wii may be a gimmick to some but it is a game system that tries to evolve among just adding graphics and other useless features that add nothing to gaming. The wii actually adds something to gaming.

The PS3 is a nice entertainment system that happens to play games very well and it could be the next thing we will be seeing in the PC world. All it needs is a good OS that could make it a very powerful computor.

While the 360 is just down graded PC.

The Wii is just a gimmick for now.

I feel sorry for those who didn't read your post and instead just went off of your topic because you made some very valid points.

Though I disagree to a point, I have a strong urge to agree. When you go back 20 years in the gaming world you would see consoles having games purely built for the console experience. The PC was this other dimension of gaming almost. It had a much more present "hard core" feel about it.

Today, console and PC games are almost interchangeable. Graphics are nearly the same, experiences are growing eerily similar, and price is creeping closer and closer. Very few titles distinguish the difference.

And then you have Wii with its lower price, lower graphical abilities, and this strange controller actually attempting to distinguish between everyone else. With this comes TONS of exclusive content and games that can not be done anywhere else (including the PC).

To be honest mate you speak a lot more sense then most on this forum. The only console i would consider getting is a Wii and that's because i own a PC. There's simply too much overlap between the PC/PS3/360 to make owning more than one a priority.

For me (as i'm guessing most people) the choice came down to the PC and 360. As well as exclusives i chose it because the games were cheaper, the online was free, the graphics were the best (which is vital for a HD graphics focused machine IMO) and the controls were superior to consoles. Saying that though i can understand why people craving simplicity and a low price would choose the 360. Basically the PS3 and 360 are budget PCs and the Wii is an enhanced gamecube with a new interface. Say what you want about the Wii at least it's unique, which s more than you can say about the other machines

I feel the same. Though I have both a gaming PC and a 360 (mostly for the timed exlusives), when it comes down to buying a game that is on the 360 or the PC (Bioshock and The Orange Box being the most recent), I buy the PC version because it is always superior.

Yes, because we all know its impossible to have good graphics AND good gamplay in the same game. Don't get me worng, I love my Wii, but honestly the online system is under-nourished. How cananybody like FRIEND CODES. This is the reason why I am planning on buying a 360 in a few weeks, I want good online service.
