http://www.freewebs.com/wii1080p/ Someone linkify! Or better yet, post'em pictures here. Two months or three back I let my girlfriend's big brother borrow my Wii and he let me borrow his 360, sometime during that time I got myself a cheap HDTV. I got my Wii back, and I also bought the component cables for progressive scan-goodness. But on a 32 inch, it's not a very pretty sight. Seeing Twilight Princess upscaled to 1080p on someone's HDTV and it looked really good, my question is, how can I upscale it to a higher resolution? Thanks!SonicWind
You need a tv that is capable of upscaling the incoming video signal.

Upscaling the Wii's output is not going to change the core problem, which is the cheap HDTV.Iyetharhttp://www.vizio.com/products/detail.aspx?pid=18 Thats the TV I got, I dont think it's all that bad I think. I got the component cables, and I know it's not suppose to look anything like 360 games, but seeing the link I posted in my original post, Zelda looks really crisp.
Hmm, I woudn't know as I have mine hooked up to the downstairs SDTV.
On HDTV related news about you getting yourHDTVmmy HDTV finally came in stock, and so excited to pick it up this weekend!

Vizios are actually really awsome TVs for their price. Im pretty sure that some of the bigger models do have the ability to upscale. (I saw people having a PS3 720p only game , at 1080p on a 37" Vizio.)
I love Vizios! So you're saying, the bigger the TV the option to upscale is possible? Dang.. Don't you see how awesome it looks upscaled? I just want mines upscaled to 720p. Does it do it automatically or would I have to search within the options to upscale? SonicWind
No thats not what Im saying. It depends on the TV. Im just saying that I saw a 37" Vizio upscaling to 1080p. Just do some research on your TV to see if it has the ability to upscale.
Yeah, uh...that's not true 1920x1080 output from the vid card in the Wii, you all know that, right? It's just the analog output signal upscaled (like DVD upscaling).
It's not bad or anything. Do it if you like it. Go for it :)

naw there not that great, but for the price i guess they are decent tv's. anyways ALL HDTVS SCALE to the native res. so if you have a native 720p set, the 1080p films are scaled to 720p. if you tv is 1080p native, then all 720p stuff will get scaled the the native resolution of your set.
I have a 50-60 something inch HD.
I just started using my Wii on it.
It really makes games like zelda and RE4 come to life. Its awesome.
Also, playing metal slug on a huge TV is fun in a weird way.
Upscaling 480p to 1080p is a criminal act. A 480p signal only contains enough pixels for about 15% of a 1080p screen, which means 85% have to interpolated. Teufelhuhn
Have you ever, like, actually seen it?
Trust me. You won't go blind.

The scaler he's using costs twice as much as your TV. You may as well just buy a better TV that has a better internal scaler.
The best advice I can offer you is to turn noise reduction algorithms OFF and to adjust your sharpness control. Turn it all the way to the softest setting - any sharpness setting above '0' is probably running edge-enhancement algorithms that create additional jaggies.
With Sony and Nintendo working together to provide 1080p for the Wii, there is no need to buy an XBox 360. :DDarkBunnie
Wait a second...thats right, thats a SONY TV...BLASPHEMY!
Errr, anyways. You can upscale the Wii's output if you want, but theres little advantage to it. Pretty much what you are getting at that point is less aliasing at the expense of texture clarity.
Okay. First of all, I have a WIi and play it on a crappy TV. Second, I have defended HD gaming many times as well as shot down people who make posts about how they can't see the difference. But I have to say, I went to that link and despite having some sharper colour it looks almost exactly the same as what I see on my crappy TV.
Sorry. This is probably the first time ever that I'm not impressed by 1080p.

FACT: The Wii does not support 1080p.
old news and you need sony equipment to do it...funnyHeil68Owned.No you don't.You can use Dscaler to upscale video by plugging your PC into your TV. http://deinterlace.sourceforge.net/

Believe it or not it's not as bad as it sounds... Let's just say with the proper filter, running a GBA game at 1024x768 with the hq2x filter looks quite nice... I'm pretty sure it could be the same with Wii or PS2 upscaling...
In fact, I did see an upscalled PS2 game on a PS3. The difference was quite nice...
[QUOTE="a_ratchet_fan"] so if it's a 1080p source on a 480p DVD, it'll display in its original source. pretty ****ing awesome) so that's agiven. Still, it is quite amazing what a nice TV will do these days...ssbfalco
Uh... 1080p source on a 480p DVD?
:?

You have to be kidding me, dont lie. I have a 60 inch tv and it looks at least 5x worse than my old SDTV.I have a 50-60 something inch HD.

To upscale stuff for your HDTV isnt cheap at all if you talk about more than upscale a DVD.
you can purchuse an Upscaler which can cost you over a thousand dollar to a nice job, a cheaper way is to get one of those Yamaha 7.1 Home theather which can cost about $700-900 but is not as good. Here are some links for you :D :D
