At least here in San Antonio. I went to work today at Gamestop and we got 10+ Wiis and sold out in an hour again. I checked over at the Toysrus, Target, and Best Buy in our strip of stores after I'd heard they too received Wiis and I was interested to see if they still had any. The Toysrus and Best Buy got 100 and sold out by 9 am and I couldn't find out how many Target got but they sold out too.
Wow. I mean we get a hundred calls and walk ins a day from people wanting to buy Wiis.
My strip of stores alone in San Antonio TX it must have sold at least 200-250 in one day.
The DS has been the same way. We can't keep them in the store for more than an hour or two when we get those too.
Nintendo is really going to have a good April and I wonder how long this huge demand will last.
I honestly think the Wii can hit 7.5 million worldwide sales by the end of April. And the heavy hitters on Wii haven't even been street dated so I can't imagine how fast these things are going to sell after Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, and Smash Bros. come out.
The 360 is sitting at 10.6 million shipped I think and I've heard they've still only sold around 9.7 or 9.9 million to actual consumers but I kinda doubt the 360 hasn't sold more than 200,000 units since december. Does anyone know about that?
Anyway the Wii is really close to catching up to the 360. I like my Wii and am buying a 360 just for Mass Effect next week but it shocks me how well its doing. If it catches the 360 this summer then fall 2007 will be a huge battle. Halo, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, going up against Smash bros., mario galaxy, metroid prime 3.
And I will reap all the benefits.
BTW, does anyone else find it strange that the last few months rumors have been swirling of retailers complaining and demanding Sony drop the PSP's price to increase sales or they'd stop carrying the system and now the PSP got a minor price cut?
But my point is I'm going to love this fall and the Wii is still on fire.
