The Nintendo Wii is one of the most influential and best-selling gaming consoles of all time. Featuring one of the largest gaming libraries, the Wii was the first system to bring home affordable motion sensor gaming, and set a standard for gaming consoles and peripherals going forward.

On December 7th, Nintendo is ready to re-introduce the Wii, with a twist.

:At an introductory price of $99.99, the red and black Wii Mini system comes with the console, sensor bar and a Red MotionPlus controller with Nunchuk.

While the system has no Internet connectivity options or Gamecube support, it features full functionality and compatibility with the Wiis expansive library of over 1,300 games and its associated peripherals, totaling nearly 1 billion games sold. From the massively popular Mario Kart Wii, to the Legend of Zelda series, the simplified nature of the Wii Mini allows for an easier out-of-the-box gaming experience, and is perfect for those who want to check out the Wii and could not pick up the console before, or a quick addition to a rec or gaming room. If you have a Wii already, a Mini would make a great backup, or travel size companion.

That material and texture just looks odd....
A smaller shiny Wii wouldve been perfectly fine, but w/e.
Still not NEARLY as bad as the new PS3.

That thing is horribly hideous and lacks internet and GC support.

My regular Wii suddenly holds a lot more value now.

I still don't see the point of this thing. They were selling Wii's at my Wal-Mart for cheaper than this, and those were online-enabled. It's not like Wii's have stopped selling altogether, either, since they sold about 300,000 of them last week.

I think it's kinda cute. Maybe even a little nostalgic actually -- a console without all the bells and whistles. It just simply plays games like the good ol days.

Looks aside, it's a horrible decision. Sure, the "casuals" wouldn't really notice the changes, but it won't bring in any money for the people that want to purchase games online/use their Gamecube games in there. It looks like Nintendo just cared about making it smaller without regards to functionality.

Dunno bout all that, might be better off buying an old Dreamcast. :P

I was about to say the same thing I can get a regular Wii for around 100, if I get it on ebay I can get it as cheap as 60 bucks. Who would buy a POS like this? Probably confused parents thinking "hey let's buy this one instead of the expensive WiiU, I bet it'll do the same".. They should have just dropped the price of the original Wii.

Oh dear God, why? Nintendo just put your focus into the Wii-U! The Wii-Mini looks attrocious.

I like the retro look to it, but the colors should not be red and black. That'd just look tacky underneath a nice tv next to all of your other devices.

$100 paperweight. What new item will Nintendo think of next?

I'm hoping its the quality of the pictures but that looks hideous.

No GC support? I'll just pick up a used Wii that has GC support one of these days. The Wii doesn't have enough games I care about alone to buy one. Pair it with the library from the GC and there are enough games.

I actually like the aesthetic look of the console. That's mostly to do with the color combination though.

Cheaper to just get a used wii or buy an lg drive.

While this is one of the nicest looking consoles, it's just a very bad decision on Nintendo's part. I think pretty much everyone who wanted a Wii got one by now. This extremely gimped version isn't going to increase sales much.
