my wireless computer mouse and recharge docking station that all costed less then 20 dollars

yet the wii mote costs 60 and uses friggin duracel batteries from the 1950's

thats rediculous man even computer mice are more high tech then that old an busted supposive next gen gaming controller

next gen its not wireless it uses friggin long cord then gives u barely an range of motion

it uses batteries u cant even plug it in to somethin to self recharge it why does it need batteries if IT PLUGS INTO THE CONSOLE it could get energy from the power socket god wth man

Sega Activator

Sega was miles ahead of Nintendo when it came to innovation.

Hook one of these bad boys up to Virtua Fighter for 32X and expierence true next gen fighting. I've done it and its a blast. :D

there's no wire on the Wii mote, it's the nunchuck that has the wire and you can get a charging station for the motes.

Protoss, stop, for the sake of your reputation, which is already bad enough. You have never used, nay, never saw a Wiimote, and we can easily tell from your OP.

Wiimote is the combination of wireless bluetooth, IR sensing, and accelerometers sensing movement in an X,Y, and Z axis... not the same thing as a wireless mouse.

The only wire is to the nunchuck, probably to cut down the amount of wireless info floating through the air (I mean you can have 4 people all playing at the same time, that would make 8 controllers to keep track of, not to mention the hassle of syncing the nunchuck to the wiimote)

You're right, it sucks that they dont' charge, but the charge stations are out there.

wait wait for the cords i meant that

THE WII MOTE AN THE NUNCHUCK ARENT wireless from each other

an theres a stupid cord that connects them together so u really dont ahve tons of motion u can do cuz the cord is so small that its not really a wireless floatin free styled motion device its like a nunchuck an awkward and thats not free imo

free would be the nun chuck be completely wireless from the wii mote an u could put one controller behind ur bak or like one under ur leg an do crazy moves

with the cord there u really cant do crap its very limited very very limited is what i meant

the xbox 360 an ps3 controlelr are completley wireless an i can use my psp as remote control completely wireless as well for my ps3

so again nintendo ur dumb start makin the nun chuck wireless becuz everyone knows it can be done an ur not doin it cuz u like batteries like duracel an energizer to pay u money to keep it old tech an ruin everyones life

or else nintendo just decided to charge 40 dollars for the wii mote 20 dollars for the nun chuck, and how does somethin cost 20 dollars an isnt wireless that doesnt even make sense bro

nintendo cheapened teh technology so they could overcharge price an make tons more profit

they shoulda just made the nunchuck wireless an recharger so u dont need batteries an then nobody or even me would be complainin about it bein old tech but they didnt an who knows why id rather pay 30 bux for a wireless nun chuck that has arecharger then 20 for old crappy tech wouldnt u nintendo fans jees

The "cord" between the Wiimote and Nunchuck is a metre long. If that isn't enough room for you to flick your Wiimote, you are doing something very wrong.

Do even realize what you are typing?? Your original statement contradicts some of teh things that you said now!

Also you can buy a recharger st for the wiimotes, and if nothyin else just use rechargable batteries.

And did you seriously try to compare the wiimote to a mouse as far as motion detection earlier? lol, holy crap!

What are you complaining about?

Lack of wireless? The Wiimote itself is wireless, yes, if you include the nunchuck, there are wire, but that doesn't really fit with your thread title now does it? ;)

Batteries? There is a3rd Partyrechargeable dock station.

So basically, all you're really making 10 paragraphs about is, a metre long wire between your nunchuck and the Wiimote.

i would agree with u, TC, that the price of a wiimote and nunchuck is unjustifiably high. is they had a rechargable battery as standard then it wouldnt be so bad but they dont.

after that though well it goes a little downhill.

a mouse has less in it than a wiimote. its a few buttons, a wheel and a camera and light source so it can pick up motion. im not sure which has the more powerful camera mind but its probably the mouse. the wiimote has all that (minus the wheel but it has a dpad) and it has its motion sensors. now motion sensors are not new or invented by nintendo but there implementation is the finest example of the tech as applied to games.

as for the cord, im assuming ure talking about the one between the wiimote and nunchuck. since no grand gesture is needed to use the wiimotes sensors, the cable, in my experience, is fine. iv never come close to stretching that cable. ninty could have made a wireless nunchuck but then ud need another battery or 2 and u gotta worry about sinching the right nunchucks also and make sure there working with the right controller in multiplayer. unnecessary hassle. if u think the wiimote connects to the wii using a cable....well then erm....u might....er...want to double check that.

if lack of rechargable batteries is that big a deal, then buy some and a charger. i got a charger and 4 batteries for 20 euro. i use 2 for my wiimote and 2 for my second 360 controller (which also doesent come with rechargable batteries as standard).

finally u are right in that the wiimote does use old tech. nothing in there is brand new. motion sensors have been around for ages, as has IR cameras and buttons and the analogue stick on the nunchuck. but thats the same for every controller this gen. PS3s? its a PS1 dualshock controller without the shock and with motion sensing. a 10+ yeal old design with ancient tech. 360s? its a reshaped PS1 dualshock controller. the tech in that is also ancient. mouse and keyboard? well thats the oldest of the lot of them (though it is my preferred method of playing most games).

dude just hold on a second ok

im just sayin that the wii mote sensors aren't very high tech its like here

i can make a cool new device that acts like it does somethin new but really its just kidna basic and easy to make

its not like motion sensor its like in duck hunt when the gun would send light into the screen an it would kill a duck its like using bad photography tricks to em make special effects u know like how they used to make ghosts an stuff in pictures usin some weird tricks

all the wii mote is IS WEIRD TRICKS its not real motion sensing its just tricks to make it look like it the wii mote has sensors in it an the thing picks up on those sensors its NOT REAL motion sensing guys is what im tryin to say theres no way it could be for the low price it costs its jus atrick an a gimmick is what im sayin an nitnendo tricked ppl this is not next gen its like callin the gun on duck hunt next gen it justed used tricks on the screen to make it look like it was real

ProtossRushX

an accelerometer is not new, but it's new in the way it is used in this game controller and it opens up new ways of playing games. Therefore it will expand the very definition of gaming. It IS real motion sensing. inform yourself. you are making a complete fool ofyourself. you're probably very young, so i won't be too hard on you, but don't shout things you know nothing about.

stop now. do yourself a huge favour.

Okay, now you're just digging your own grave.

First, the pointer doesn't work like in Duck Hunt (that trick only works with CRTs anyways). Rather, there is a megapixel IR camera in the Wiimote, which tracks the IR lights coming off of the sensor bar to determine where the controller is pointed.

Second of all, there is a 6dof accelerometer inside both the Wiimote and Nunchuk. This detects tilt and acceleration on all three axes, regardless of whether the controller is pointed at the screen or not.

my wireless computer mouse and recharge docking station that all costed less then 20 dollars

yet the wii mote costs 60 and uses friggin duracel batteries from the 1950's

thats rediculous man even computer mice are more high tech then that old an busted supposive next gen gaming controller

next gen its not wireless it uses friggin long cord then gives u barely an range of motion

it uses batteries u cant even plug it in to somethin to self recharge it why does it need batteries if IT PLUGS INTO THE CONSOLE it could get energy from the power socket god wth man

yep thats where i messed up big time i was thinkin i dont own wii or see wii's alot i remebmer how the wii has that cord connected to the nun chuck and i got that mixed up with goin into the console my mistake all i konw is that the cord is bad imo it looks bad it seems it like it would really constrict gameplay with motion sensor device u really dont want to be tied up to a cord

i just messed up there tho bout sayin the cord plugs into the console

Wiimote cost 60 dollars? Thats news to me. Wow this thread is horribly wrong. Also, it seems you've never played a wii, seeing you don't know how long the cord between wiimote and nunchuck is.

uh wow dude im not technical genius i mean you were talkin about all these facts an stuff, the fact is that i think the wii mote prolly costs nintendo maybe 20 bux to make an they sell it for 40, right there thats a hugemark up on just a controller thats not the bulk of system which there makin another huge profit off of

the nun chuck that thing should only cost like 10 bux to make im just sayin that the tech inside those things does not add up to there price tags an the markup is otoo big too much an i dont like what they do for gamin an i think if they were wireless an came with a recharger an didnt use any batteriesi feelwould it look a lotmore appealing to the tech savy gamers and gamers who respect consoles like i respect the ps3/360 i dont respect wii right now cuz of what nintendo did an part of that is with the controllers

It doesn't really contrict motion at all. The length allows for plenty of room. Also yes it could be done wirelessly, but adding extra signals for the Wii to keep track of, like Which controller is gong to be #1, and Which Nunchuck is going to be attached with that remote, would just add another level of confusion. Making it wired just makes it easier for us and Nintendo.

so you've never actually played a Wii and yet you're complaining about how the controller is hard to use?

good job.

Should we call those who are against motion control the Dual Analog purists, or those who advocate change the sheeps?

That they are considerably marked up is one thing I'll agree on. Perhaps the only thing I'd ever agree with you on. Though at the same time, so are the other controllers this gen. (do you really think it costs 50USD to make a wireless 360 controller?)

However you shouldn't bash things you have no real understanding of.

Also, the 360 doesn't come with a rechargeable battery either. That's extra. Similarly, there are optional battery packs for the Wii (or you could just use regular rechargeable AAs).
