From the looks of things, all the big new Wii releases after June will use Wii Motion Plus so it's going to become the new standard. Think about it... motion controls on the Wii have been broken to this point and it has still dominated the 360 and PS3 sales. What's going to happen now that they're actually going to work as they should?

While I will get M+, Add ons fail.

Sorry man, but it's just going to get a few kick butt titles to support it, and fade away if history has taught us anything. I pray to be wrong, but I don't see it.

same old same old. they still won't work like they should, and the same or less people will buy them because like me, they'll be pissed that to get non-sucky controls i need to pay more. they'll turn into xbox with all the add-ons and extra components you need.... hell pretty soon people will be saying 1 year of wii= forever of ps3 like they do to 360. *shudder*

M$ and SONY wont be in big trouble, if anything the Wii will have an ever bigger sales gap between the 360 and PS#, thats all....

Or M+ could fail miserably and Nintendo winds up getting even moe hate....

Hmm doesn't matter to me I don't make a profit from Sony and MS sales. Also I don't think a add on to a controller is enough to destroy them. As long as Sony and MicroSoft doesn't get the stupid to rely on a gimmick as a controller I'm happy.

Are you kidding me? Nintendo has made serious strides to making it the new standard by 1)releasing it with a game that everyone is going to buy Wii Sports Resort 2) allowing developers to package Motion Plus with their games 3) All of the big game announcments for the Wii over the past 2 months have pledged support to the add on.

Man, I had this same arguement back when the N64 Ram Pack was coming out. The guy on the forums said the same thing...We'll see, like I said I hope I'm wrong.

It will be interesting to see how well adopted M+ gets. Add-ons normally don't do all that well. I have no doubt it will be the standard next system.

That being said, im real excited for it

I doubt it'll give them all that much trouble. Sure it'll be great for Wii owners, but i'm sure sales on PS3 and 360 aren't going to stall because of it.

I doubt the people who bought the Wii really cared how responsive the controller was and I doubt the people who didn't buy it avoided the Wii because of it either. The only people who are going to buy motion plus are the hardcore Nintendo fanboys that will buy anything that Nintendo puts out, including stuff like Wii motion plus that should have come with the controller. That is, unless it's packaged with a Wii like the like they did with Link's Crossbow Training, Wii Play and Mario Kart Wii.

No one cares about Wii Play and Sports, they were forced on them.

Motion + should have been included on original controllers, built in.

Nintendo is milking you for money, I don't see how you can't see that.

Then it's going to sell like mad. But we'll see if games actually start supporting it. After all, since the release of the balance there have been what? Like three games to have come out that support it?

I have yet to play a title that I actually felt good with Motion sensing since Metroid Prime 3, so taking wack controls and tightening them up a bit... idk. I could see if the wii had a bright future for gunplay but c'mon, the conduit looks great but I havent seen much else. Besides, I definetly prefer the precision and tight/responsive feel of a gamepad/dualshock3, but thats just me

While you are entitled to your opinion I still dont get why people think this.

It seems Im in a minority here but when I played Red Steel 1 with motion controled shooting I was blown away, felt like no othe FPS. Sure the game itself was nothing special, but the controls IMO were phenomenal.

Will this M+ controller somehow allow the WII to sport Hi Definition graphics? No. Will it cause the hard core gamers to flock to the Wii, bringing their wheelbarrows of software money over? Nope. Then I don't see this affecting the status quo. Wii Hardware sales riding high, but software sales in the crapper.

I loved Wii Sports as much as the next guy, but I'm not sure I see the point in spending money for a new edition AND an addon just so it can gather dust in a month again. Besides, what can top Wii Bowling? :P

Perhaps now they will ;)

Wii Motion Plus is pretty much the relaunch of the Wii as the console is based around motion controls, and now it's actually going to work well.

Well, I do agree that the game experience itself is unique- ill never forget grinning as I blasted away at one of the metroid prime3 bosses, orflicking the nunchuck to rip off an enemy shield...it was trully new and I loved the feeling, I may just be a bitter wii owner with no shooters to play... Thats actually probably more the case. Naturally, control is one of those vital things that can make or break any shooter and the ambiance it brings, I hope that The Conduit with its graphics and online multiplayer will restore my hope, but the devs did mention that they didnt implement M+ into the game because it was announced after they began production- they are making great use of wii-speak though

wasn't the wii itself already to have 1:1 control? either way i'm still skeptical as history shows motions controls really never pans out in terms of game qaulity however if they truely do work as they've been said to and they get some dev support then that means wii might actually compete in terms of games with teh Ps3 and 360 but either way i wouldn't say MS or sony is in trouble as the wii really isn't competeing witht the PS3 or 360

Bingo. - Add-ons have a poor success rate for the initial system. How many times has camera add-on been tried (PS2, PS3, 360 ) that failed? How many times has an expansion, expansion pack, etc been tried? Hell the Dreamcast had two slots for plugging stuff into your controller - of them only the VMU was cool, and no one has done one globally since.

Without playing what? I've played wii. I can understand what motion + is going to do. Just because its 1:1 in motion doesn't mean what it will be registering the subtleties in motion needed to mimick combinations of quick button presses in any manner as fluid or quick as button presses - or at all.

Oh noez the wagglez! They'll be more precise now! Seriously, I dont think it's going to affect much. The Wii is dominating sale wise now, it's going to continue to dominate sale wise. I'll still take the 360 and PS3 over the Wii anyday though.

$40 for main controller... $20 for the nunchuck... $20 for the Motion Plus... $80 controller to play games like Wii Music. Gotta love it.

How can you guarantee that motion+ is going to be that much better than what we have now? I remember everyone was stoked about the original motion controls and look where that got us? Even the original controls have yet to have the potential they hold drawn out, what makes you think developers will do any better with Motion+? Just asking.

The Wii has already been outselling the 360 and PS3 by a wide margin for a long time.

Still, both MS and Sony are doing just fine.

I doubt an add-on will change the status quo, tbh.

Yea. Another add-on to buy is going to make all the mini-games and rail shooters better. The add-on will suddenly up the quality of Wii games, and then all that innovation that Nintendo has been hyping but has not shown will appear, and a rainbows and unicorns will fly out of Mario's butt and everyone will realise the Wii is the god of all gaming.

Or, it could just be another add-on that Nintendo fans spend more money on that does nothing, makes Nintendo money, puts up numbers on the NPD, gets hyped and misrepresented, and does nothing to make games better, more innovative, more fun, more modern, more artisitic, or anything relevent to the maturity of the gaming medium as a whole.

My bet is senerio number 2.

That's a bad example, as the DualShock was bundled with every PSONe, and even then, it didn't recieve super support. With Sony pushing it in every console, it got some support, but it wasn't massive.

The Dual Shock 2 launched with the system, and got massive support, it wasn't an addon.

Your example only proves my point.

While I will get M+, Add ons fail.

Sorry man, but it's just going to get a few kick butt titles to support it, and fade away if history has taught us anything. I pray to be wrong, but I don't see it.

just like PS1's dual shock right?

That's a bad example, as the DualShock was bundled with every PSONe, and even then, it didn't recieve super support. With Sony pushing it in every console, it got some support, but it wasn't massive.

The Dual Shock 2 launched with the system, and got massive support, it wasn't an addon.

Your example only proves my point.

What i meant that it does have some hope. I know it's not going to overtake the new standard but nintendo already said their trying. The dual shock got decent support. WM+ could have the same thing.

more like the N64 expansion pack which only got used in a few games zelda:MM, perfect dark, DK64 etc, or the N64 rumble pack which required AAA batteries, or the N64 memory card which barely any games needed, or the gameboy slot for the N64 controller which was used for pokemon stadium and not much else. Nintendo has a history of makeing addons which become redundant...

The N64 was barely getting support as it was! No developer in their right mind would do even minimize his audience. WM+ is a different story. I'm not saying it will be the new standard once and for all. But i think it will get a better reception than the addons you've mentioned.
