Ok, before my remains are wiped from the walls and floor (hopefully not the ceiling) by the barrage of feedback from hardcore gamers, let me explain:

My girl likes games, she doesn't love them, she likes them. She grew up with an NES and we play Baldurs Gate and Gauntlet together. She doesn't like Rock Band. She puts up with it because I like it.

My friends and I play Rock Band and have a blast/cuss at the tv and or guitar/microphone/drums for not working. We aren't musical geniuses, heck hard gives us a run for our money. We are normally stone silent (not the vocalist) while we play our set. Its fun, but we aren't too competetive and its really not that fun for our better halves.

Thus, I like the idea of Wii Music. Non competetive, easy access for anyone, nostalgic content. Not to mention 30 instruments. I see this as the game that a group of 8 of us can play joining and leaving whenever we feel like it.

Finally, I can play this with my daughter; she's 2. How sweet is that.

Did you forget that it takes 0 skill to play aside from the drums? All you do is press buttons and sounds come out. Completely lame.

I guess that is nice for your two year old, good for you sharing your hobby. My little girl started gaming around that age and she can now play mario quite well, she gets on better with 64 because her hands are too small to use the nun chuck easily. Her other favourite game is SF III 3rd strike which she plays with an arcade stick lol. See even young kids can appreciate real games if you start training 'em early (mine has just 4).

Wii Music is not what I expected it to be. From E3 2006, I thought it was going to be Guitar Hero, but with an orchestra. I was hyped up for that. But it turns out, it's not. Wii Sports Resort looks like a lot better casual game.

This game will sell to people like your gf, TC, but that doesn't mean people that come to VideoGame sites are going to like it or get excited.

This game is for a new market, and it will do well. If this was Sales War, Wii Music would be exciting.

We all know that games like Wii Music, Wii Resort are going to keep coming, it's just not Exciting news, is all.

This reminds me of when I bought Electro Plankton, it was cool for about a week, and I never touched it again. That's how I see Wii Music.

um, you still have to time the rhythms to make a group song sound even halfway decent, just no "rhythm bar" for visual cues. You have to rely on the others around you do figure it out.

You play the instruments aimlessly with no goal in mind.

Nothing to keep you playing really IMO.

I'll take Animal Crossing any day because there's alot of things to actually DO.

It can challenging to play decently in a group, but it's pointless by yourself alone.

Just because your girlfriend and daughter would like it, doesn't mean it's "good".

I'll have to hear more about it, but it actually does intrigue me. I'm more interested in Wii Sports Resort, but I think I'll pick this game up if it's fairly cheap.

i'm way more interested in wii sports resort

give me that over wii music any day

then again, i've never played a GH/RB game

i do have a balance board so i probably wouldn't mind wii music if it were down to a budget price and i just happened to be in the mood to extend the life of my balance board

I'm just saying this divergence is good, and I think that its a perfect fit for nintendo which is really appealing to casual gamers. I still want more games like No More Heroes and Umbrella Chronicles (which my wife enjoys in co-op), but I think that Nintendo's innovation is passing far beyond controllers. This is a game built purely for musical fun. Maybe it doesn't appeal to you, but you know what... I don't like racing games. Its just my opinion. I feel that this kind of game is a genre of its own, for lack of better term: Games Without Score. Its not a music game, its a game for the sake of playing a game.

I could be wrong, the game could be terrible, but I think its ideas and basis are good. Like everything else, I'll rent it first and then pass judgement.
