A major problem I have with the Wii is that it has no demos. At any time, I can hop on XBL or PSN and download demos of upcoming games. I can find out if I'm going to like them from the comfort of my own home, without subscribing to demo disc magazines.

For example, No More Heroes looks interesting. However, there's no demo, so I have no idea if I'm going to like it. It could be fantastic, but I'm probably not going to buy it until it's $20 and I've played everything else out, just because there's no point in taking a chance when I can buy games that I know from actual play that I'll enjoy.

Anyone else find themselves taking fewer chances on the Wii because of this?

I don't know if the Wii's memory could support too many demos, especially with VC and Wiiware titles.

The wii badly needs online demos. Its an important nex-gen feature that wii-owners are missing out on. The problem is that the wii doesn't have a hard drive so it would be impossible for the wii to get lengthy and detailed demos like xbl and psn demos. Why go to blockbuster and pay to get a feel for of a game instead of downloading a free demo from you couch thats gives you a good taste of what the game is like?

Agreed.

Not to start a flame war, but I think if the Wii had downloadable demos, no one would buy Wii games, because so many of them are absolute garbage. For games like Zelda and Mario the demos would work great, but for a game like...Carnival Games, there would probably be a lot of people interested in the concept who play a few minigames, decide the game is crap, and then decide not to purchase the game. A lot of Wii games are really almost too simple to demo, because for some people, the demo would be all they'd need of the game.

True, but I don't think gamers who are concerned about quality are buying that sort of game anyway.

Which is why the Wii should get demos. I would rather not have crap selling on it.

Not gonna happen, you can't make a demo on 512 MBs of space.

get gamefly. that's a better solution for all systems, cuz even a demo can be missleading.

TacoJelly

They could make them smaller demos or you could put them on a SD card.

Best bet would be like VC games, where you can buy it delete it from your Wii and download again whenever you want. Get a demo, play it a bunch, delete it, download again latter (if you want).
