I'd like to bring up the subject of First Person Shooters on the Wii, many sheep say that the Wii is the best console for these games and offer more responsive controls then the PC. I don't think that is true at all, the problem being is that the wii mote is responsive. Too responsive, you see while aiming if your hand moves in the slightest the cursor moves and throws off the aiming, I'm sure there are settings to lower this, much like a PC; however your hand is resting on a desk while controlling the mouse to your PC, where as your hand is dangling in the air while playing the wii.

I own Metroid Prime 3, and I couldn't stand it for the first couple of levels due to the free-aim. Luckily Retro put in the older style of controls, that was in Metroid Prime and Echoes, where you could lock on to your enemy. I've been viewing some Conduit videos on IGN and while the game looks good, I've also noticed how the guy playing misses the target far to often even when the enemy is right in from of him. Unfortunately for the conduit it's not an FPA like Metroid so you can't really have a lock on system that lets you shoot and always hit the target. So I have to disagree when Sheep the wii is made for FPS.

you can rally for 360 if you like but loads of people dont have 400 dolllars every month that a 360 fails ,

Even Ninjabread Man? Most of the developers for the wii opt out for waggling the wii remote to cause actions, that I guess is somewhat realistic, but not to me. I'm sure m+ will solve some of this, but that'll be up to the developer to decide if they want to go through the trouble of using m+ or take a shortcut and use waggle controls again. As for the case of FPS aiming is accurate but when you move your hand a tiny bit and miss your target it does get annoying. Also we're talking about control issues here, not a system that has failure issues I'm sure you know by now that the 360 isn't the only console with FPS on it.

The Wii is terrible for FPS. The wii fanboys have tryed to prove me wrong but in reality its horrible.

Aiming is just god awful and doesen't feel very comfortable. And besides the aiming the other controls are also really bad. Id take a gamepad over the terrible Wii controls anyday.

I do not think anyone said Wiimote controls for FPS's are better than PC. They are more realistic. They are also more responsive and faster than dual analog. It is a pity we don't have many FPS on Wii to prove this, however I think MP3, MoH:H2 and CoD:WaW say it well enough. Have you played any other FPS besides MP3 on Wii? Also the Conduit looks a lot better and am sure will play great, read the previews and hands on.

I've heard some say that they are superior to PC. I've only played MP3:c and resident evil: Umbrella Chronicles (even though that's on rails). I'm sure The Conduit will be good, even if it does look a little generic. It has shaped up a lot since it was first shown, I was watching the first level on IGN and just noticed the issue of the shots being fired all around the enemy before actually landing a hit.

The one's who say it is better than PC are wrong, however I will boldly state that they are better than Dual Analog. Also, The Conduit was in Pre-Alpha during those videos so wait until the game releases.

I disagree it is much worse then duel analog. I played Red Steel with the wii controls and their just god awful. Turning, aiming, shooting is all a big mess.

Indeed. It really depends on preference for this sort of thing, as it does with anything. I prefer the responsiveness of the Wiimote to the slow, clunky dual-analog movements (and the auto-aim in many console FPS' makes me scream bull**** more than anything :P). I still prefer kb/m for FPS though.

Have you played MP3:C or any game that utilizes the FPS controls correctly? Red Steel isn't a game to judge by.

FPS will work better with the new remote coming out even though MP3 and MOH2 both controlled very well.

IGN about MP3 "Not only do the new controls respond quicker and with more precision than any dual-analog-helmed FPS ever created, but the gesture system works brilliantly, too"

Gameplay
Spectacular. Controls better than any console first-person game before it, features great pacing and a fun mix of puzzles and shooting. In contrast, there's a tedious fetch quest and some door loads.

And look at Kill Zone 2, cows hype that game to no end.. yet it comes form a company with only ONE AA game in its history. So yeah, past games prove nothing. Besides, High Voltage made The Hunter, which was an awesomesauce game imo.

[QUOTE="JangoWuzHere"][QUOTE="Minishdriveby"] Since we are talking about controls... "The game's deep control configuration and customization options continue to set the bar. You can still tweak all control settings, changing look sensitivity, the dead zone, turning speed, and much more. The run speed has also seen improvement so that Agent Ford runs a little faster through environments. You can make all of these changes using The Conduit's real-time control alteration setup, which is sure to be copied by developers going forward. Regardless of your control preferences, you will absolutely be able to come to the perfect calibration. We've got nothing to complain about there. "-IGN This is why the game gets hype, notice "Perfect Calibration".

Red Steel was bad because it was TOO sensitive. Perhaps you should play 2 or 3 good FPS's to pass judgement, not one bad game. It is like me basing my Judgement of the PS3 off Lair. Please, play MoH:H2, MP:3 or CoD:WaW if you want me to take you seriously. Also, the IR pointing is much more precise, accurate and faster than Dual Analog providing pixel precision in most cases, this is FACT. Whether you like this or not, it is your opinion. However if you watn your opinion to be taken seriously, you should have more experience with Wii FPS's.

FPS is easier to play on the Wii than the other consoles -- but a big part of FPS is online and voice chat, both of which are kind of hard to use on the Wii.

We`ll see how it turns out, but its definitely an improvement over what others have done on the console. I still think today The Conduit is an ugly game and I don`t see the hype around its visuals, but the control customization sounds really good.

Yes, the visuals, albeit are nice on a technical level, are pretty dull artistically. The control customization provides for "perfect calibration" as IGN says. The 16 player online and Voice chat are just icing on the cake. The game should be hyped for Gameplay, even if graphics are nice. I mean look at MoH:H2, it looks decent at best but is so fun to play.

Wii FPS titles are terrible compared to proper PC shooters, anyway. Wii owners like to insult dual-analog, but in the meantime, the PC gamers are laughing at the sheep for thinking that Wii is the king of shooters.

I've honestly heard of few sheep say that. Most say its the best control option for a console, which it is. Its the easiest/most accurate. The only downside is like I said, the online play, the visuals and the voice-chat communication is barebones on the Wii.

I'm willing to admit, despite being quite vocal about disliking the Wii on so many levels, the Wiimote HAS THE POTENTIAL to be a standard for FPS controls on a Console. Some of the very few (key words "VERY FEW") highly proven and rated FPS have proven the Potential of the Wiimote for FPS.

The Biggest problem is like I said and someone eles said, Wii has very few FPS in it's library to prove this. And SEVERELY needs MORE.

Its know-here as good for FPS as everyone thought it would be.

The wiimote is surprisingly poor in fluidly navigating a 3D environment from the first person perspective.

Surprises even me that the mouse and keyboard is still the most fluid and suitable control method.......

At the very least, its better than dual analogs and is arguably better than kb/m atmosphere-wise.

This is the first gen where motion controls are made staple to a console. I suggest you give it time.

The Wiimote could completely destroy dual analogs if 3rd parties cared to make any important contributions to follow up MP3, but as usual, the Wii is the farthest thing from their minds.

well look at CoD:WaW sales (they're terrible)

The first wii FPSs were so bad that it killed everyones interest in them. It will take a really really good exclusive FPS with good marketing to get people to notice FPSs on the wii again.

Multiplats will never do well on the weakest console with the worst online capabilities.

I wish Valve would make a Wii-exclusive shooter. It would have built-in notoriety and hype, and would most likely end up being really good. Sadly, I don't think Valve even wants to acknowledge that consoles exist.

No not at all. Its the opposite. Analouge sticks work well as third person camera controls, however in the first person perspective motion is very unnatural and clunky (compared to a mouse, not to say console shooters are poor because of this). Alot of this is due to its turning ratios, and it being a directional stick.

It is the best console for FPS controls... if done correctly. I thought Metroid controls were good, reviews also praised it, but I can't help you if you didn't like it. I didn't like Metroids controls on the DS, it was too awkward, but that got praise.

I didn't like the DS controls for MP: H, I did finally like MP3:c after the first level or two, but I had to figure out how to put it on the lock on like the first 2 Metroid Prime games.

Another reason is that splitscreen can't be done on wii because you need your controller pointed in that corner of the screen the entire time.

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 has awesome controls on the Wii. I think CODWAW has great controls as well. Honestly give MOH:H2 a try because I just got it for christmas and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

lets see, given there are only around 8 out right now for the wii, the majority which are low budget and poorly made, compared to the countless number of fps on other consoles and the pc, i really dont think there is enough data to make that claim.

You don't (or you shouldn't anyway) hold your arm in the air to play. Anyone that plays a Wii knows that for a serious/deep game you rest your arms/elbows on your legs. This limits movement allowing for more precision, not to mention that it actually makes marathon gaming possible.

Also, people with sense don't dare say the Wii is better control than KB/M. I'd say KB/M takes the gold with Wii only earning a few extra points for being naturally fun, but the point is that it's significantly better than Dual Stick. Thus Wii enjoys the bragging rights of having the best console controls for FPS.

Ok, so maybe the Wii is not that great for FPS... or RPGs or puzzle games or racers or... well... anything...If on the other hand you are a fan of $50 mini game collections that are slapped together over a weekend for a couple of grand then you are in the right place.

Ok, ok take it easy there, that's just a joke...well mostly a joke.
