First off, I'll just say that I don't have any strong hatred towards any of the 3 consoles curently available.
I'm just gonna tell it like I see it, and you're free to agree or disagree with my POV.

Of the 3 current gen systems available I own just one: the Wii. It's a fun little system, with lots of good games that just about anyone can enjoy, but it's lacking in some major core areas. For starters, where's the RPG's? Neither Nintendo, nor the 3rd parties supporting the system have released many RPG's (2-3 so far?), and the horizon looks just as bleak.
In addition to an extremely weak RPG library on the system, it gets the black sheep treatment when it comes to versions of certain games. GH III being a big one, and the recent news about RB Wii being severly gimped only showcases the problem even more. In other words: If a game is multi-platform, the Wii version is for suckers, everytime.

Seriously though, the Wii is a great system, I'm not all about the negativity. But imo, the Wii is just what I thought it was going to be: a secondary system. It's Robin, and your choice of the 360 or PS3 is Batman.

I'm going to get a PS3 to pair up with the Wii. It has to be done. PS3>360 because of Blu Ray, and according to IGN's release lists, they've got equally strong line-ups, with the PS3 possibly having a slight edge in terms of the types of games I enjoy.

Do you agree with my view that the Wii is best thought of as a secondary system? One that is more or less the sidekick of one of the other 2 consoles.

Yes I agree with you about the Wii getting only love from nintendo. (heard that before) The gamecube suffered the same fate as well. I am fortunate enough to own all three and I can say I play my 360 the most (when it works) but by this christmas My Ps3 will be getting its far share of love.

The wii is complementary.

It is everything that complements a hardcore experience that only the 360 and PS3 can provide.

Thats just me and I hope people that ONLY own a Wii can come to terms with that.

that's true so that's a disadvantage for the wii right now but i'm sure it will catch up to the core one by one, as you see, metroid, mario, thenre umbrella chronicles, mohh2, no more horoes, now brawl. Next up, mario kart. I love wii, all it needs is a bit more games for other people. They really prove that the gameplay is the best out of the 3 systems though, so they can take an advantage of that and keep growing to everyone.

The Wii is my main system, the 360 is secondary to me. I only bought it for GTAIV and RE5 and maybe a few others, but Nintendo first party games is my main thing.

I use the Wii as my main console, the 360 being my secondary, I enjoy single player WAY more than multiplayer based games, so that's probably why. And I guess there aren't many RPG's out, but I don't mind.

I don't see it as a secondary console nor any of the other system as a secondary. I usually jump from system to system depending on the game that is out around that time. Last year, I jumped from console to console from all the good releases. Now it's the Wii for Brawl. I'm sure come June, PS3 will be my console of choice around that time. Also maybe in april, I'll pick up GTA4 for some console but IDK yet.

Who buys the Wii for multiplats anyway? Makes no sense. I bought it mainly for the wiimote controlled exclusives. And some Nintendo games.

I don't know about anyone else but i don't keep some log containing every minute i've spent playing each console..What is this secondary console nonsense? Hate to break it to alot of you but alot of people buy Nintendo products JUST to play Nintendo games. To me, the Wii compliments nothing but my TV.

So why not get the one that plays the new standard for top of the line movie watching? Why not?

At first I thought it was going to be a noob bagging the Wii and using flame-bait to start a flame war but I actually 100% agree with you on this, although you just have to remember the Wii is all about Nintendo exclusives and 3rd party exclusives, not muiltplatform games. But as a main or second console along with the PS3 or 360 its the best combo this gen IMO.

I respect your opinoin and I agree with you to an extent. I think the wii is only a secondary system to some and a primary system to others. It all depends on what you like. For me personally, I own a wii and a PS3 and my wii gets much more attention (although I admit it's due mainly to the recent release of SSBB). It all depends on what you like.

As for your remarks about getting gimped versions, I can see what your saying but that isn't totally the case. Bully and The Godfather: Blackhand Edition are good examples. But you're right about GHIII and RB. I just wouldn't say all the muliplat wii game are totally gimped all the time.

What so you don't watch movies? well for normal people who do watch movies and want the latest thing to watch them if they see a gaming console which is cheaper than the player itself and it still plays that format plus games on that system why wouldn't they buy it? So if they wont the latest player to watch Movies on and a gaming console they will see the PS3 and go oh that plays games and blu-ray screw the 360 and Wii.

yeah, i sort of agree with the wii being beter suited to be alongside a partner...not exactly secondary by any means, but yes.

360 lacks in platformers. wii lacks in quality shooters and fighers in general, they balance each other out.

It's only a secondary platform for gamers. For everyone else, it's just as viable of a primary platform as the other two.

If the Wii is more boring alone than a 360 alone, or a PS3 alone, is a matter of opinion. If I had to choose one console and scrap my PC, I'd choose the Wii. Something would definitely be missing if I only had a Wii, but even more would be missing if I only had a 360 or PS3.

I don't agree about the secondary console part though. that is merely opinion

I don't see what's wrong with being a secondary system. Any real gamer is going to have multiple consoles anyway. The only people with just a wii don't want and will never get a PS3 or 360 because they don't like those kind of games.

I agree with you to an extent, the Rockband version for Wii is a complete insult, and the Wii does get a lot of PS2 ports. But for my needs at least Wii is perfectly fine, the only thing I'd like to see on Wii is a decent multiplayer FPS game that doesn't involve WWII. Wii has a fairly strong RPG line-up with Zelda, Paper Mario and multiple Final Fantasy games coming out.

The Wii is shockingly good but so is the PS3.

The Wii is a good way to spend your money as while it may look entertaining at first, just looking doesn't do justice to the amount of fun you can have with it weeks later.

Buy the Wii!

(LOL, the balance was starting to shift too far in one direction and I did my best to restore it a little)

Then according to your logic, waaaaay to many people are mis-using System Wars. People say all the time that they prefer a console over another (givng their opinion).

Finally a good honest post from a Wii owner... Good job man !!

Unfortunately am one of those that sometimes bashes the Wii due to certain blind fanboys comments and I always tend to forget the respect I have for Nintendo due to saving the gaming world in the early 80's... Wii is a fun console and that's what it was meant for... Simple, easy to play, fun games... They marketed the casual gamer and did a good job... So it is the secondary console to own unless you just like a certain type of games or else interested only in Nintendo's 1st party developed games..

All consoles are gimped when it comes to RPGs. Theres just to much of an AWESOME backlog of RPGs on PC to even have to consoles compete.

duh duh duh TC, of course nintendo give love to their games cos its their console!! Same thing with Sony and MS. Do you know how much money is poured into halo or maybe resistance?!?

Third party's only put quality in where there is money to be made. Yes money and money alone. They thought Wii would flop like lamecube but they were utterly wrong. Believe me they are putting more effort into Wii games; rather than make cash and spend it on a 360 game.

RPGs being released this year- Tales of Symphonia 2, Fragile, King's Story, Legend of the Dragon Sword (previously called Oboro Murasama Yotouden), Final Fintasy: Crystal Chronicles THe Crystal Bearers.

Guitar Hero 3 for the Wii was up to par, if not better than, the 360 and PS3 itterations.

I'll try to buy every system eventually, but the Wii will awalys be my primary console.

well i agree that games developed for other systems will be worse on the wii. but heck that's true of ps3 vs 360 also so it would obviously effect the wii more. as for secondary system, I think the wii is the best complement to any other system. whether it's primary or secondary is irrelevant to me. it's simply the system that provides an experience that is unique.

Yeah, the Wii does feel rather secondary compared to my PC, but I think its about on par with my 360 in terms of how much I enjoy it. 'Cause, you know, sometimes you just feel like playing WarioWare instead of Gears of War.
