lmao @ niten007. Seriously, man if you can even believe what you're saying i give you credit. Lets look at games sold on single consoles this gen excluding casual games (sorry halo 3)

HALO-7.5 million
SMG-6.5 million
TP- wii: 4.8 million, GC:1.3 million
SSBB-4.8 million
Gears of war- 4.7 million

now you can all start talking about games selling. Wiiplay is an optional pack in, as in you can buy the controller without it, its completely optional like buying a game.

Your a Wii fan, so you automatically negate your right to call other things, in general, overrated.

your opinion is overrated...

See what i did there. I gave no reason for saying that just like your baseless and relatively useless comment

What would drive you to make such a topic?

Next thing you know you'll be making a topic about how Carnival Games sold more then Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction...

Yes, because it was bundled with a Wiimote. If they had done anything with the 360 controller or Sixaxis then they would have sold too.

Yeah because the Wii is really overrated isn't it. And the 360 isn't? Or the PS3? "Yeah but it's a PS2 but with awesome graphics!" doesn't really entice me into buying a console...

The Wii is getting by on ps2 ports

People bought wiiplay for the controller I know I did I played the mini games for about 2 days and then got back to my REAL game with the extra controller.Gh0st_Of_0nyx

That, along with everyone else who is saying the same thing is a retarded sentence. So basicly, instead of just BUYING an extra controller at $39.99, you bought Wii Play at $49.99 because it came with that same extra controller. So you admitted to paying $10 extra dollars for something you beleive is garbage? (oops, someone below you called it garbage, my bad.) People make statements like this "I bought Wii Play just for the extra controller, never gonna play the actual game as its just non-game mini-game tech-demo trash".. and then complain about the 360 and PS3 being over priced? Ok, I mean, its your money but sheesh...

people didnt have to buy it, they could have just picked up a remote for $40. but they decided to pay the extra $10 to get Wiiplay.

it would be rational to think that if we count sales of videogames that are bundled with systems, why cant a game that is bundled with a controller count?

answer: because its from nintendo and its selling like crazy. i love system wars

MS must really be watching how the wii and its games are performing on the market , they spent probably 30-50 million to produce halo 3 and it gets outsold by the millions by a low budget Wii title ,minigames FTW .

richest_boy

You mean the game that came bundled with the Wii controller? That is amazing.

you realy have to tip your hat to nintendo's Sales tactics though. I mean why buy the contoller on its own?

I bought the controller on its own. I had no interest in paying $10 for more crappy mini games

Well I guess it's handy for you're argument that neither the 360 nor the PS3 sell games with their controllers, but I can see how people would be enticed into buying a controller with a game for £5 more than just the controller.

exactly. the main draw was its low price.

although we have to take into account the fact that Wiiplay came out when Wiimotes were still hard to find. thats the main reason i bought it, i couldnt find any wiimotes for sale in los angeles at the time, but thats not the case now, its still selling well

Sorry to the Wii fans...but wiiplay sucks. Picking out little characters that don't belong in a crowd of people was fun in grade 2, but I wouldnt' necessarily say that it rivals Halo 3...at all. Not even close.

Well that's more like comparing controller sales to a game. Wii Play is such a pathetic joke for a game but might as well get it for the extra $10. Except after playing it I even regret paying that.

Have you actually played wiiplay? It's stupid, and it's basically just a controller tutorial in the form of a few mini games. The difference is that people aren't buying wiiplay for the sake of buying wiiplay, there buying it because they think they are getting a $10 game that they will probably only play once or twice (like I did). People pay over $60 for Halo 3.

Quick question: how many Halo3's would have been sold if MS sold a controller + Halo 3 package for $10 more than a controller alone?

I normally agree with the whole system wars are idiots thing...but in this case it's just you.

yes. i have it. i played it a few times, got my $10 worth

people can just buy a controller for $10 less, but yet they DECIDE to buy Wiiplay. does it hurt to try to wrap your brain around this simple fact?

Well it's their money and their decision. Maybe they just wanted an extra cheapo game with their controller so they decided to buy it.

I think one reason why Halo 3 sales are low is because of the nutheads that work the gaming retail department. "Oh, sorry sir you have to be 16+ to buy that game, show your ID or don't buy"

I don't know about everyone else but my purchase went something like this. "hmm, I need a second controller." *sees wiiplay* "I'll get that, it's only $10 more than a controler by itself, and I know my friends will get a nice kick out of the game."

sales are low? their sales are phenomenal. Halo 3 has a 45% attach rate, thats insane for a full retail game.

They decide to buy wiiplay because they think to themslves "why would I buy a controller for this much when i can get a game and a controller for just a little bit more". Like I did. Or because they can't find a standalone controller...like you. They don't know that the game is a piece of crap, they don't know that they are only going to ever play the game once. If I knew what wiiplay consisted of before I bought it than I would have never bought it. It's my fault for not looking into it more, but it's only a little more money so it's no big deal. Don't fool yourself into thinking that people WANT this game, becuase it's really only good for a quickplay once or twice and than it's used as a coaster.

What exactly is the point of your argument? What exactly is the point of this thread all together? To try and suggest that Wiiplay is better than Halo 3? If that's what you are trying to get accross, than my work here is done, because you are hopless, and obviously outnumbered by people who can look past extremely skewed sales and focus on the reality of the situation. Otherwise, I don't see why this is even a topic of discussion. Wiiplay is not better than Halo 3..if it were to be sold alone it would not have over 10 million sales. It's been completly boosted by the fact that it's a cheap game bundled with a controller. It has little-to-no replay value at all, and is successfull for the soul reason that people who want a controller think "why not?". This is nothing to brag about, this is nothing to be used to claim the wii's supremacy. This is equivalent to boasting about how well little toys sell when they are bundled inside kinders surpise eggs during easter. It's pointless, means nothing, and the fact that you are trying to defend Wiiplay like it's what people WANT is kind of embarassing for you and the Wii's library.

i never said they wanted it, i said they DECIDED to buy it. meaning its kinda like an impulse buy.

you can get a controller for $40, or that plus a small game for $50.

but nevertheless, they decided to buy it instead of just the controller. its simple, i think you are looking too much into it.

I've already said and agree with what you are saying...about 5 times now. You basically just rehashed my post in your reply. I said they decided to buy it. I said that it was an impulse buy. I said that it's only a little more expensive than a controller...so i don't know why you even bothered posting. What I wanna know is what in blue hell is your point? What is this information supposed to mean exactly? What's the underlying purpose?

MS must really be watching how the wii and its games are performing on the market , they spent probably 30-50 million to produce halo 3 and it gets outsold by the millions by a low budget Wii title ,minigames FTW .

Is this a joke? Your comparing a game packaged with a controller to Halo 3?

basically what I'm hearing you say right now is "HAHA Nintendo fooled us into an impulse buy". or "I bought a game that I only played once or twice while 360 fans got a game that costs more but is one of the most popular online titles out there and received excellent reviews".

What are you talking about? Where did I say that I can't afford it? Actually I said that I already have it...which makes your post sound pretty pointless. On top of that, i'm saying that money should be spent on something more expensive, so "you can't afford it" is basically the stupidest reply you could have made...and you made it. Good job.

This is just my personal preference: but i'd rather spend money on a game that i'im going to play more than once..even if it's a little more. I don't see how a $10 piece of crap selling well relates to the success of "real" games.

It would not have sold anywhere near that much if you could find a controller. It might not have been so bad either. >_>

lol you even said yourself it was an impulse buy...and dont' kid yourself into thinking that controller shortages had nothing to do with it, which was the reason you bought it as well. They got $11 million people to spend extra money on that crap? I'd say there was definitly some "fooling" going on. If you disagree, than that's fine. I guess we agree to disagree. But one thing is constant is that we both have a $10 useless piece of crap laying around our houses somewhere.

I'm completly over it, I was over it as soon as i realized that there was absolutly nothing good on the disc at all..all I wanted to here was your point..which you again failed to make. Why is it being compared to Halo 3? I asked this question multiple times already and you've dodged it every time. All I want to know is what you are trying to achieve? If you can't answer that than perhaps you need to reevaluate why you posted here in the first place.

Come on...you are the one that had complaints about system wars...shut me up and tell me why i'm wrong..this is your chance. So far I know that you can try and make personal remarks that have almost nothing to do with the topic, but you've done nothing to support your point.

You have no clue what I am talking about? Didn't you see the topic title? You really should have a clue by now, especially for someone who has been here this many times.

That's it...keep avoiding telling me your purpose. That makes you seem very promising.

All I got from your first post that i replied to was that it should be counted as a "game" because games that comes with systems are. And that it won't be counted as such because this is system wars. To me this suggests that you believe in the validity behind it outselling Halo 3, since you obviously believe they should be on the same level. My problem with that is that sales for wiiplay wouldn't have been as high had it been sold independantly...so putting them on the same level is not the right thing to do.

But your gone right? So you wont' read any of this of course...uh huh.

1$ Hamburgers outsell steak does that mean that Hamburgers are better. No it just means that people buy the free or cheap things it is just human instinct to go for the cheap things. and Wii play only sold better because people wanted an extra controller and there is a bundle that you get a free game with the controller.

Tell me how that is ownage again?

lol what?

360 isn't even really competing with the wii. I hate to say that, but its true. The Wii is definately for more casual gamers, reaching a much larger market then the the 360. The only real competition for the 360 is the ps3. Wii is pretty much on its own and doens't have to worry about the other consoles.

I agree 1000%. Some guy posted a link today where Bill Gates actually said Nintendo was their main competition. I think that is the dumbest thing he's ever said.

I know this is probably an old thread... But what does this prove exactly? People like to play crap over a fairly average FPS? So what?
