WII - 102,522
PS3 - 12,791
Should we bury the PS3 so soon? Sure seems like it.
Does anyone think Sony can recover from this? If so, How???

I was looking forward to buying a PS3, but it's too risky right now. It may have hit terminal velocity now. Nothing left but the splatter...
Sony doesn't need to do that much..
Just wait until the games that people in Japan want (Final Fantasy) come out. PS3 is in no way buried....
Ganon_919
FF won't propel the PS3 to sales necessary to catch up to the Wii, because at this rate Wii will be like 4-5 million units ahead by the time it comes out, its the DS PSP war all over again

Final Fantasy isn't going to save the PS3.
I can pretty much guarantee that if Final Fantasy had come out on PSP instead of DS, PSP would have been the dominant system. I wouldn't doubt that FF can save PS3.

I'm using it as an example. Do you think the games out now on the PS3 appeal to the majority of Japan?
I didn't mean for my post to come off as Final Fantasy will save the PS3 single-handedly, but the games such as that that sell in Japan. When they hit, sales may not be phenominal, but they'll pick up.

There are plenty of games coming to the PS3 I'm going to want but I'm not willing to plunk down $600 on it, not when I can't even keep up with all the 360 games I want right now. The constant news from media and analysts predicting quick PS3 price drops are probably hurting sales numbers quite a bit, too. Everyone knows it should, must come down in price soon, and they're most likely holding off until it happens.
Some pretty funny logic in here.
The DS/PSP war was long decided by the time FF:III was released on the DS.
FF:XIII will not save the PS3 though it may help with that effort. The PS3 needs alot more than that.
I do not think that "mass produucing" Will shave off $100 of the estimated $125 for the BluRay diode. A normal DVD one is still ~$19.
Stick a fork in the PS3 over in Japan because its destined for 2nd. Its an utter dissaster in Japan wtf. Sony has nobody to blame though but themselves. You make your success by appealing to casuals. Well you basically killed youself when you made a machine that wasn't priced towards casuals. Damn why can't we ever see a two horse race in Japan. It has never happened. One console always dominates Japan. Like have there ever been two consoles to ever actually have to duke it out in a close fight in Japan.
[QUOTE="Eddie-Vedder"]Doesn´t this thread mean the xbox never even had a chance?joeblak
Everyone knew that the 360 would fail in Japan. Sony was king in Japan last generation, and now they're flopping like a fish out of water.
So cause we knew the xbox was going to fail in japan it survives... The ps3 is nowhere near death.

PS3 probably won't pass 5 million sold over its entire lifetime in Japan

Exactly Jon has nothing against the PS3, Jon just doesn't think he should buy it until Jon has a reason too. And if Jon buys it with a price drop Jon won't care.

102,522 in just one week only in Japan?! Yea i demand a Link right now. There is no way the Wii sold 102,000 consoles in japan just last week alone. That would mean they would sell average 400,000 in one month alone for only Japan?! LMAO yea Link like right now dude that sounds bogus

The problem is why should 3rd parties try to make games for the PS3 if the install base isn't there? This is the main reason 3rd parties developed for the PS1 and PS2. What incentive do 3rd parties have to making more games for a system that isn't selling? Most of the games that were announced for the PS3 were in development before the console launched. There haven't been too many reports of new games coming out for it since it released.[QUOTE="Plug1Plug2"]Last Weeks sales

those are media creates numbers not bogus the link is in another threadwont Square Enix eventually realize what system is SHOULD make it's games for? the one with the much larger installed baseDS_fan_aticI'm not certain, but I feel FF has kind of lost its direction. SE is more interested in creating CGIs for that game rather than providing a fun experience. Just based on that they might keep FF on the PS3 since that's pretty much the console with the best format for them to make as many CGIs as they want. At least, this is my opinion as I haven't really enjoyed an FF game (except for the remakes of FF4-6 for GBA) in a long time.

That is, IF Final Fantasy will be exclusive by the time it comes out.

If Sony was going after the audience of the younger non gamer crowed and focused on mini, party, and motion games then yes Sony is in trouble but the Wii cant take games from the PS3 and 360 because its too different. You cant port games from the Wii to the PS3 and 360 and PC if they are made with the Wii in mind and visa versa and thats what 3rd parties want, not to make exclusives. Even thought Wii is selling alot devs arent gonna pull away from the combined audience of PS3/360/PC.
People like to say 3rd party devs went exclusive to PS2 because of its audience but people forget that MOST of the PS2s games were still multiplats even though it dominated last gen. 3rd paties dont wanna make games exclusives and thats what they are forcing devs to do with the Wii if they want to make a good Wii game. The Wii seperated itself from the competition which is great for Nintendo but not good for devs. They will go to the Wii but very lightly, they will focus on the combined power audience of the 360/PC/PS3.

What's so hard to believe about that... The DS sold 250k.
I believe that these games will help the sales dramatically

Poor deluded Sony fans the FF series has sold less with each game, the gundam game did less then 400,000 total sales, VF5 bombed,The PS3 sold only 11,000 sytems April 15 to the 22nd and only 12.782 from the 23 to the 29th the weekend of Golden week, so all those pinning your hopes on FF need to find another savior.bc226

I can't see why they would go to the PC more if many upon many games for consoles didn't go to the PC last gen. I understand about the 360 and PS3 combined audience, but when many of the developers in Japan look at the installed base there, how is the 360 + PS3 going to beat out the Wii? Even if you combine all of Sony's sales of the PSP, PS2, PS3, and 360 together, they're not even close to the sales of the Wii last week. Why would 3rd party devs in Japan make games for PS3+360 if they're not even the majority in their home country? And I don't get where you assume that they don't want to make exclusives. One thing that is certain that 3rd party devs want is to make money. If they can make money on the Wii, why wouldn't they do so? In fact, EA is having a down quarter in sales because they didn't support the Wii enough. If that is not enough incentive for EA to make games for the Wii, then you're just being blind. In fact, EA has announced two exclusive games for the Wii since then: My Sims and Boogie. Now before you cry about the quality of the games, all I'm pointing out is that they are willing to make these two games exclusively for the Wii, and this is opposite of the argument you're trying to make. 3rd party devs will make exclusive games for the Wii if they see that they can make money off it.I believe that these games will help the sales dramatically
