That's why they upped their 18 million units being produced this year to 25 million units. Ya, they really are just slacking off aren't they?

This.

They can't overshoot production otherwise they would risk everything. They're already producing twice as many consoles as Microsoft and Sony. I can't believe people still think Nintendo are holding back.

If they upped production to 2.4 million a month, then I would bet that's how many they'll sell a month too.

That ammounts to 15 million in half a year. Going by those numbers, Wii will have sold 60 million units by this time next year.

No, I beg to differ. The thread creator depicts that there are still ignorant people out there who think that Nintendo are generating shortages of Wii consoles. These people possess an alarming lack of common sense. We need to be absolutely sure that the thread creator comprehends what 99% of us deem as common sense or have come to terms with.

The are trying. If wiis continue to sell out worldwide they will probably up production again.

BTW, where do you live? in my local Gamestop in denver, they have a bunch of wiis on the shelves.

Everyone seems to want to refute my opinion but no-one has touched the Shovel-ware comment. Fact still remains the Wii is home to some of the worst games in gaming history.

Sure but it only worked b/c consumer gullibility.

I get the feeling the consumer may have the last laugh when 'n" tries launch a new console too soon and the moms & pops say - nah, we will stick to our Wii bowling/Tennis. ;)

how about you make an original argument? nobody cares about the shovelware because nobody is being forced to buy or play them. its kinda like complaing that there are to many crappy movies made because nobody forces you to watch them. btw im not even going to comment on just how ignorant your first argument is.

Basically i kinda agree...

Because dunno what is goin on in US ,but in Europe you can find Wii everywhere , in every quantity you please. I can even link you more than 5 online stores in my country that got big stock og Wiis.

So , why they dont push their units to US since it got much bigger demand than Europe? For the hype yes. Thats what i think at least

Could the following quote answer your question?

Wedbush Morgan analyst and Kotaku reader idol Michael Pachter went on record with the Dallas News with his theory on one reason it's still so damn hard to find a Wii. The United States dollar, he's paraphrased as saying, is so limp, that Nintendo is shipping excess consoles to Europe to meet demand there, squeezing out a bit of extra profit when all is said and done. It's not like Nintendo is completely abandoning American gamers - it sold 432,000 Wiis in February - it may just be allocating stock to its first rate customer base.Kotaku

Don't blame Nintendo for wanting to make a profit.

I don't think Nintendo is purposely producing less. Realistically, isn't the Wii like the fastest selling video game system ever? Nobody could have predicted sales like this. The price of building a new factory could be in the hundreds of millions. It may not be financially feasible to do that.

I think that the US doesn't get as many as it "should" because our dollar is weak. So when you're selling out globally who will you sell to? USA for $249USD or in Europe or Japan where the exchange rates make you way more than $249USD per console? No business is going to be like, "Hmm, well we can make more money, or we can make less money... I think i'll go with less money. Bankruptcy ftw".

Its not like they starve the US and lock us in the closet... we're like the middle kid. They love us, they just don't pay us as much attention.

I love how fanbois on here try to downplay the wii. It's always oh it only sells because of this. Then when that's debunked they ramble on about lack of games or quality of some of the games. Just deal with the fact that wii is going to wipe the floor with everyone else this gen. They deserve it for the most part.

yet another thing that nintendo stole from sony, console shortages:roll:

o wait, wii is selling faster then ps2 so maybe there is/was an actuall shortage,

but like posted b4, wii production was increased about 2 times already,

and last. why would nintendo make a shortage on purpose, they make money off each console sale.

If Nintendo was to realease Wii's at a pace to meet demand the hype would end. Most consumers own a Wii as an impulse buy. Buying one after a few tosses of a remote at a friends house. But what good is Library with the worst 3rd party games. Fact is the Nintendo Seal of Quality nolonger even states Quality anymore. The word has been removed from the seal. So honestly Nintendo who are you trying to fool?

I owned all three until I sold my Wii last christmas to a friend for his kids. Haven't missed it.

atarigrad

The first arguement is the core of your thread and it's a gross misrepresentation of reality.

Your second arguement is a moot point as Nintendo has the smallest library due to lack of porting and yet still have a very solid amount of great games. This of course doesn't take into consideration the huge amount of retro games that make this console a beacon of gaming glory to older gamers. Finally, you sold your Wii almost a year ago. You've missed out on the huge amount of solid releases in the past 8 months. You opinion of the current library is far from valid considering you don't play any of the games.

But thanks for making another one of these threads so that people who actually know whats going on could once again point out the ridiculous nature of these arguements.

Another thing to remember is that not only is the Wii refusing to stay on the shelves, the DS is selling close to the same if not more and they can't reduce production on it either.

The TC has a point (Im not agreeing with him), they actually talked about the Wii shortage and how that it might actually be nintendo holding back, it was on CNN 6 months ago.

Also if you think about it the PS2 was selling like hot cakes also, and PS2s where pretty easy to find every where.

Then why still a shortage in the summer? They can say anything. Sony is good at that.

Demand? duh.

People need to pay attention to NPDs a little more before they start spouting off about Nintendo causing shortages. The last few months, they've been selling 600,000+ consoles a month. That's approximately 2+ million consoles in the last 3 months. In one month, they're selling more than the 360 and PS3 combined in a month. Heck, it wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo sells more than the number of 360s and PS3s produced for that month in the US.

I owned all three until I sold my Wii last christmas to a friend for his kids. Haven't missed it.

Your friend gave you his kids for a Wii? You got a pretty good price...

Yea I agree with you. I should've never have bought my Wii. I hate the games and I've never even had a game close to 50% done. I could've bought 5 or more 360 games with the crap I bought for the Wii. What a shame.

Is this what you type in for the majority of your responses? I mean its becoming a broken record. Why do you agree?

I know. Every time he posts its something like that.

I agree...

it annoys me, i've never seen him post more then 5 words or so.

Are you all stalking this guy? Maybe he agrees...
