Tom Clancy's The Division

Grand Theft Auto 5

Mirror's Edge 2

Mad Max

Deus Ex: Universe

Dying Light

Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number

Metal Gear Solid 5

Star Wars: Battlefront

Beyond Good And Evil 2

Routine

Evolve

Game of Thrones

Borderlands

Dead Island 2

Call of Duty

Battlefield

Mortal Kombat X

Doom 4

Far Cry 5

Assassins Creed

The Witness

Need for Speed

Fifa 16

The Witcher 3

Mass Effect 4

Batman: Arkham Knight

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege

Final Fantasy

Just few multiplatform games that not coming on Wii U.

Wii U = to play only Nintendo games

PS4/Xbox One = to play all ton of games, online, indie, multiplatform, exclusives games.

This is why Wii U not selling well. Wii U needs online gaming and it needs more powerful hardware. Its Nintendo own fault why there are no other games than only Mario and Zelda.

Sadly it's true. While Nintendo has an amazing 1st party, the best in my opinion, it's just not enough. Most of the world doesn't have a gaming pc. Most of the world doesn't have more than 1 current gen system. Serving as a secondary console, a label commonly given to Wii u, simply won't cut it. The pc, ps4 and xbone can serve as primary consoles. The pc is my favorite platform and Wii u is my favorite system, but I'm an isolated example.

I think it's sad that xbone passed Wii u in sales. It just goes to show people want multiplats. Nintendo survives on their 1st party which is impressive. Do you think xbone or ps4 could survive without a 3rd party?

Bragging that the PS4/XBONE/PC are getting Ubisoft's equal to Duke Nukem Forever and Wii U isn't? Really now?

Also, Wii U had CoD, just not Advanced Warfare.

Wii U also has indies.

Still continuing the lies that Wii U doesn't have online? They just confirmed that for Xenoblade Chronicles X and the recently released Smash has it.

Thank you for stating the obvious, with a few strange entries in your list to boot (Far Cry 5? Beyond Good And Evil 2?). Yes, it's devoid of 3rd party support, and coupled with its poor marketing means that it'll be a distant third place as far as sales go.

That doesn't change my opinion that it is the best 8th generation console to purchase at the moment with a stellar library of exclusives that are shaping up to be quite varied by late 2015, backwards compatibility with the Wii and Gamecube (yep, Gamecube, provided you apply a mod).

My busy schedule doesn't permit me to invest much time into gaming, so even with its ridiculous drought periods, i would buy a WiiU as a main console. Even if, by some miracle, get to much free time on my hands, i'd supplement the lack of 3rd party support with VC and Wii/Gamecube games .

But that's just me, i know that it's preferable as a secondary system because of many big releases that will never see the light of day on WiiU.

Captain Obvious.

I don't care what others have.... fact is, if you can own more than one system.... its the next best choice... and has the best exclusives (except PC duh buh buh scores!)

Really? That's why wiiU isn't selling? And there's me looking forward to playing the division on my wiiU. Thanks for the update. Why aren't gamespot and other gaming websites covering this lack of 3rd party support? I've literally not seen one article about a game that's coming to ps4 and xb1 but not the wiiU.

@FreedomFreeLife: The hardwares not the problem. Its more powerful than the ps3 and 360. Therefore could have ran gtav, tomb raider, fifa, destiny. Anything that has or will be released on last gen systems. Its the publishers deciding its not worth the time to bring it to the wiiU.

Wii U is nearly more powerful than PS3. If game developer makes next gen game, then it cannot run on Wii U. So hardware IS PROBLEM. So far none Wii U exclusive has better graphics than PS3 or Xbox 360 some games.

@FreedomFreeLife: The wiiU IS MORE powerful than ps3, please at least get that right. And yes it unlikely that wiiU could run something like the division or witcher 3 but the point I was trying to make (that's clearly gone straight over your head) is that even if it could, those games still wouldn't come to the wiiU. Please read my previous comment again as it clearly states that any game that's released on LAST GEN could run on wiiU. But alot of these games were missing. That has nothing to do with the hardware.

This is the problem. When you put out a thread spelling out where Nintendo is weak, the fans rally around and act like you are saying something obvious. Why is it obvious? Why is this a thing? Nintendo is heading for dead last again, and this right here is probably your biggest problem.

@DocSanchez: Its obvious because anybody who even remotely follows the industry knows this has been a problem for some time. I think you need to look up definition of the word obvious.

And in breaking news; the ps4 is outselling the xbox one.

i dont think there is much that nintendo can do.

the situation continues as such: 3rd parties release inferior versions of multiplats into a segment of the market that is indifferent to 3rd party games. nintendo have contributed to the inferior 3rd party element since the wii but even when they had hardware that was more powerful than the competition 3rd party games didnt sell (again some of that could be leveled at 3rd parties. they would release the PS2 version months in advance and the gamecube would get the game later). so the hardware argument is pointless. nintendo could make a console thats as powerful as the very best PC today, sell it at a massive loss and it would still do nothing to improve the situation. hell they could even have steamworks as the framework for the online and services systems and it would still do nothing.

i used to think that maybe if nintendo backed games from 3rd parties (like bayonetta and wonderful 101) as exclusives to their platform then maybe that would be a strategy where 3rd parties, nintendo and nintendos customers would come out a winner....but that strategy has only worked with monster hunter (and even then it could be argued that it would be in capcoms interest to end the deal with nintendo and release monster hunter on everything, shouldering all the risk). bayonetta 2, despite rave reviews and coming with the first game for a good price, sold blip. nada. zilch. i doubt it sold even 1/3rd as much as the first game. wonderful 101: nothing (and that was during a drought).

the problem is nintendos customer base (and im one of them). they dont buy 3rd party games on nintendo systems. even if they are exclusive and paid for by nintendo the games arent bought. at this stage nintendo could pay for the next COD and battlefield to be wiiu exclusive and it would probably just do more damage to COD and battlefield than it would help sell 3rd party games on nintendo hardware.

in saying that nintendo need to continue to try and expand their portfolio in an attempt to attract more people to their platform. i maintain that they need to go on a spending spree for more developers, specifically more developers that make games that nintendo themselves are not very good at making or just dont make.

Yes this has to do with hardware. If you making game that runs on PS4 then to make same game on Wii U you need to downgrade almost everything and this costs a lot money and time.

If Wii U is more powerful, then why graphics is still so bad? So far none of Wii U game beat PS3

Lets compare:

Nintendo seems content to be the second choice. The "complimentary console". But this aim only really takes into account the gaming enthusiast market who oftentimes own more than one system. In this, Nintendo excludes the casual mainstream gamer who oftentimes only chooses one console. So by not placing importance on good third party support, not only is Nintendo providing no attractive proposition to casual gamer John Smith, they also corner themselves into the extremely niche market of providing only their own products to gaming enthusiast John Smith.

Not really the best business plan out there. It's so sad.....if Nintendo had great third party support and worked on drawing back consumers they've lost through years of lacsidale attitudes and ancient policies and philosophies, they'd be a hefty contender.

@FreedomFreeLife: It's a fact that wiiU is more powerful, just google it and stop being so ignorant please. From reading your posts I can see that you don't have a great grasp of the English language but please look at my previous posts again. If you read them properly then you'll know that I have already agreed that many "current gen" exclusives are unlikely to be able to run on the wiiU. But your list contains games like borderlands, gtav, FIFA, and mortal kombat x. These games are out or coming out on "last gen systems" (ps3 and Xbox 360) so could be ported to wiiU if the publishers wanted to. But yet these games are absent from the wiiU library. So therefore the problem isn't hardware is it. Yes hardware would be a problem if they wanted to port the witcher 3 or arkham knight or whatever. But it hasn't been the primary issue for the last two years.

And as for your screenshot comparison? Well it's very debatable but to me the smash bros screen looks more detailed than the 1st uncharted. If you want to see a proper comparison then look up a video comparing the same game on both systems, like watch dogs. Although it's minimal, it's been stated that the wiiU version looks better than the ps3 version.

You mean comparing 2D smash to open map with real ai enemy or multiplayer game. 2D even has worse graphics than open map.

Lol, joe_b1_kenobi, where you see more details? 2D game even has no shadows and lower textures while other game was open map with real life movement and 3D.

Doubtful. Not when you consider other factors, such as their business and how bad their relationships have been with third parties since the SNES. Some developers STILL hate Nintendo for what they did in the past. The Night Trap devs still do (they only "changed stance" to save their asses) and I wouldn't be surprised if Rockstar North (DMADesign) still did. Add to that, what's popular on their systems also plays a role in this. Sure, people will be quick to point fingers at the current Nintendo fandom for only buying Mario/Pokemon/Zelda, but the fact that the same people do nothing but notice those three franchises and call out Ninty as if those games were another Assassin's Creed/Call of Duty/Madden makes them look no better in the situation.

And Nintendo frankly doesn't care I guess.

If you are buying Nintendo consoles for 3rd party titles, you are wrong.

Nintendo games are the only reason you buy a Nintendo console.

Most of the games OP listed I have no interest in.

I graduated to PC master race, so I can enjoy my Wii U and my third party.

Good luck being broke and not having good games, console pezzies.

And currently the Ps4 and Xbone lack games worth owning. What's your point?

Also why are people comparing Uncharted to Smash Bros? It's fact the system has more usable ram, stronger GPU that has 3x more eDram than the 360's which is stronger than the Ps3's. Then you have IGPU that are stronger than the last gen systems being able to run Crysis 3 and Bf4 but are still weaker than the Wii U on paper.

@FreedomFreeLife: it's a different art style for a completely different game. Smash looks more detailed and crisp to me, the textures look abut flat and muddy on the pic you posted.

It's not like we can do much about it. You can blame it on the Nintendo fan base for ignoring third party games, (even though many of us have tried to support them) but really we can't do much to fix it. Publishers are now killing their games on the Wii U by giving the Wii U the worst version of their game i.e. lacking features/content that the other versions have, or just that the Wii U's hardware can't compare to the others. Even if the Wii U sells enough systems to at least sell third party games at an adequate rate, publishers would still probably ignore the Wii U and most would still buy their games on other systems to get a better experience.

@jg4xchamp: It is definitely Nintendo's fault for making a under powered console and not trying hard enough for 3rd party support, but you have to admit the publishers didn't make their games very appealing for it to sell well on the Wii U.

It wouldn't matter. Nintendo could make the most powerful hardware in the generation and it would still be ignored. People will then claim that the Online isn't good enough. Or that Nintendo doesn't make good FPS arena shooters for their tastes. Or that there isn't enough Nintendo M rated games. People will always look for an excuse to not buy a Nintendo console. Then they will complain about stuff like the third party games. Just more haters doing what they do best.

It's a shame, i would love to be able to play more multiplats on my WiiU, last gen i didn't have any issues since i was going to get a PS3 for MGS4 and it was my multiplat platform, but now...God the PS4 is just awful and the X1 while looking better still have issues, mainly the fact that none of their first party devs seems to know how to make functional games anymore...maybe, when the price is right, i will get one of those platforms because right now, there is no way i will spend more than 250$ in either or them.

@FreedomFreeLife: LOOOL @ comparing Smash to a scripted corridor TPS!

You mean comparing 2D smash to open map with real ai enemy or multiplayer game. 2D even has worse graphics than open map.

Lol, joe_b1_kenobi, where you see more details? 2D game even has no shadows and lower textures while other game was open map with real life movement and 3D.
