Casuals will love it. They loved the Wii and they'll love the Wii U. Sony and MS are probably already hard at work trying to copy it (Sony even confirmed that).

Casuals who aren't buying software and spend on avg. 1 hour using their wii a week? I think they've learned from their mistake but that's just my guess. Soccer moms will latch on some of the strangest stuff even after being burned before. I'm not so sure but i'm no fortune teller like pachter.:P
Yup just like 3ds.oh wait...........

Wait that it gets Pokemon and all the kids will want it ;)
Their share dropped like 5% after the announcement I heard? I think it'll flop.LustForSoul
Share holders are just making panic because they want confirmed success. Nintendo is a gambler and I'm sure they'll succeed with the Wii U as they did with the Wii before that.
Their share dropped like 5% after the announcement I heard? I think it'll flop.LustForSoulIf I'm not mistaken the shares also dropped on the Wii's reveal...so, nope, doesn't mean a damn thing.

i cant believe that series is still around...i mean it had more changes then joan rivers face
it looked good...but like i keep saying that controller will probably be expensive and the fact it wont be sold separately is nerve racking...i think it will take off in sales but not as quick as the wii.
It will sell until the next gen comes around.Ninja_Odin
You think casuals will be interested in 599 consoles which will require 3DTVs for a good experience? I don't know man :P

That's even better for casuals. They'll just buy the controller and still like it. And when they'll see the "pretty games" they'll also buy the console.

I can't remember the last time I bought a hot cake.
Eh, I think the WiiU novelty train will run out a lot faster than the Wii one did. Nintendo fans can expect to be purchasing a new console in 3-4 yearsRR360DD5 years not 3/4

Even the PS3 is proof there is no such thing as guaranteed success. Look at it compared to the PS2. Nintendo loyalists need to drop back down to reality.
Casuals bought the Wii, but they don't love games (that's why they are casuals).
Wii U has to attract the core gamers or get the casuals to jump on board for another gen, which they will have no reason to since they will have all the shovelware they can stand to play already on their Wiis.

The series has had quite a few changes, problem is that you don't know enough about the games to know them.

That's a good thing, adding more gameplay mechanics, features, pokemon, moves, and abilities are needed.
If its going to sell like hot cakes it better not be expensive.
Reading this (link below) is not a good start.

Nintendo would never charge that much for the wii u only a fool would charge such a high priceCausuals aren't going to spend 499.99 for it.
James161324
It's going to cost $350 or $399.It all depends on the price that we know nothing about, we all know how good Sony did with their $599 Ps3
aroxx_ab
$299 to compete with the xbox 360 and PS3? Probably $350 to add a premium price to make them seem better than the competition. If its going to sell like hot cakes it better not be expensive.

Maybe, it still feel pointless to argue about it when we not know for 100% what the price will be. Nintendo just said competitive price for the value you get or something like that, in Nintendo´s mind that can be anything
Sony and Xbox are working on new consoles. It's just a matter of when they feel they should be released. They prob want to wait another two years. Bread_or_Decide
Microsoft said they opted to work on the kinect instead of release a new console. Sony said they planned for the ps3 to have a 10 year lifespan.
The ultimate problem and question is, will developers this time around really create games that use the tech? The problem with motion controls is that developers simply made the same games but just adapted the motion controls to replace a previous control scheme, which in many cases was superior in most ways to the motion one that was going to replace it.
Will the same happen to the Wii U tablet controller?
Selling like hot cakes will depend on the marketing they choose and how much they spend. For example the Wii, many bought it all, the marketing and the system, just to be totally disappointed, sell it and even became haters. One extra hater in the world but one extra Wii sold by Nintendo. If Nintendo achieves this once again...8)
3DS isn't selling like hot cakes...whose to say the Wii U will?Bread_or_Decide
3DS aims at a completely different market to begin with. Not even Sony with the Vita may still be able to compete with smartphones in the handheld market.
