Wii wireless = slow?

Dont ask who, but I saw some noobs posts debating that the Wii using wireless as its standard network interface is a bad idea. They stated that when it comes to downloading "gigs" of files, wireless is a bad idea because it's "slow".

Now that is true if you are transferring files over a LAN where average transfer rates are maxed out at 100 mb/s. (1000 mb/s if you got a good pc card) 

The average high speed INTERNET runs between 1.5~3.0 mb/s though.

Wireless runs at what 54 mb/s? It's not even using 20% of the total speed available!

Are people really transferring "gigs" of files between their ps3's and xbox's over a wired LAN to another console? Thats the only way that I could see wireless seeming "slow".

If you know the Wii, it won't be downloading anything that size ever.  Its internal memory is only 512 MB.  However, the speed it works at is currently faster than the PS3 on the browser and downloading (since it takes like a day to download anything on a PS3).  And watching episodes of southpark through youtube on the Wii's Opera browser (eat that cable company) works as fast as it can be watched, this means streaming video is possible and wont eat up any HD space.

Also, it has wired attachments available, and also Wifi is big on all consoles since most people don't like stringing cords from room to room.

This bursty loss may cause tentative serious increase of generated NAKs and leads to performance degradation due to NAK implosion. This paper focuses on this handover-caused loss in wireless reliable multicast.

I think it was a bad choice not to just put in an ethernet port in favor of an adapter, but I use my wireless network all the time with very few problems.

i run my ps3 wirelessly and download demos in less than 15 and have yet to have any lag on resistance

Umm...k? that article was practically pointless...but i play through multiple walls with no packet loss so umm...yeah and if you have poor signal quality of course you are going to run into issues just like if you had a faulty Ethernet cable...i suggest you buy a better antenna or router.

Wii should've made ethernet standard and not wireless. Sometimes Wireless can be bad for gaming, since there's a lot of packet loss and choke. Not to mention Wii would've costed less.
