Wii's Virtual Console has also become a third party dumping ground.

Lets be fair, you can find alot of junk on XBOX Live as well but the Wii is gettingĀ  some serious crap at an almost alarming rate.

Who are these developers kidding putting this crap on the VC?

Legend of Kage, Dungeon Explorer, Bonanaza Bros., Urban Champion, Space Harrier, Vigilante, Moto Roader, Baseball, Altered Beast, Tennis, Victory Run, Soccer, Pinball, New Adventure Island, Soldier Blade, Streets of Rage, Xevious.

Thats just naming the obvious.

Do you know what Legend of Kage is?

Perhaps the IGN review will refresh your rose colored glasses.

http://wii.ign.com/articles/766/766379p1.html

I personally remember owning that game and it was just awful. Perhaps you can argue that streets of rage was any good, but you can't possibly defend legend of kage.

I never claimed it was a masterpiece, But I have fond memories of it and it's stilla good time to be had.

Edit: Worth 5 dollars? To the majority No, but no one is forcing you to buy it. As for New Adventure Island and Streets of Rage, hardly "dumps"

Of course I did. Streets of Rage is one of those that you remember liking, then you play it and you realizeĀ that it really wasn't that good at all. Nostalgia is an evil thing.

I am fully aware of those games but thats not what this thread is about. You may notice I did not say "VC has no good games."Ā  I said third parties are putting some truly questionable content on the VC. Shouldn't Nintendo be doing some sort of quality control on that thing?

According to IGN they are all mediocre and haven't aged well at all.

Classics? Hardly. Just because they are old does not make them classics.

in fact you said that the VC has ebcome a dumping ground for bad games.Ā  implying that people simply toss all their bad games at us.Ā  which is false.

nintendos only obligation with the VC is to provide us with the widest selection possible.Ā  Theyre not here to judge what games the public may or may not like.Ā Ā  they can put bebes kids on the VC, do we have to buy it? no.Ā  will someone want to...Ā  well.Ā  I doubt it but maybe. I for one am a HUGE fan of mischief makers on the 64.Ā Ā  im one of 4 poeple I know who have even heard of the game,Ā  odds are this wouldnt make it on cus tis not as popular.Ā  but its a great game, and shouldnt be discriminated against.

they should put whatever they want, wahtever they can on the VC, and let the public decide if its worth it.

I don't care how many bad games come out for the VC as long as good games come out as well... no one's being forced to buy the bad stuff... also, Streets of Rage rocks!!

Nintendo could put 1,000 titles on the VC tomorrow if they wanted to - all they're doing is acting as a ROM middleman. These are straight up ROMS they're putting up.

Live games have to be drasticallyĀ altered forĀ online play (among other things like 16:9, HD support, etc.) That takes a while.Ā

1. Mischief Makers is awesome.

2. Their are some titles that really are just there to scam you into buying them. Legend of Kage is one of them. I think Nintendo should protect the consumer from buying this crap, thinking its classic old school, and then finding out they were just robbed of 500 points.

Growing up alot of us NES owners were dupped into buying alot of terrible games. There was no video game mags or gamespot.com there to warn us of our purchase. Nintendo turned a blind eye to these titltes and just let developers run free. Sure you had all those great Nintendo titles but eventually you want to try other games. Karate Kid, Back to the Future, TMNT, I mean just watch those Nintendo Nerd reviews and its not hard to notice that we as kids had to suffer through some terrible games because we simply didn't know any better.

Theirs no excuse for allowing games like Legend of Kage.

Well XBOX doesn't have 4 generations of games to fall back on.

At least they add online features, and sometimes they upgrade the graphics.

Well these online downloads are meant to be a side dish. Software is the main course and the 360 has plenty of great games to play while you wait for decent Live content.

Yes, but Live features original content.

There is absolutely nothing original on the VC. I suppose that's great for the younger generation of gamers who started about a decade ago but you have to understand how that fact alone makes it useless for people like me.

The difference is Microsoft doesn't have these games to release - they have to create most of the content and capabilities. This is not the case for the VC - once a system-specificĀ emulator for the Wii is created the entire library of ROMS it covers (for example - Sega creates a Genny emulator that's Wii-capable) are ALL ready to be released. All of these ROMS have already been dumped (not dumped in the thread title's sense - dumped in the ROM dumping sense) ages and ages ago.

I'm pretty convinced that Sheep don't like to play anything thats new.

Same old mario games on the VC.

Same old nintendo franchises on the Wii.

They truly want nothing else.

not tahts just being mean.

honestly, speaking as what GS boarders would call a sheep, its not that we dont like new games, its that many new games suck.Ā  I for one get more enjoyment out of playing popful mail on my sega cd or tetris on the nes than I do playing metroud prime 2 or GTA, or halo, or splinter cell, or whatever the hell game it may be.

VC is slated to get original content, if I'm not mistaken.Jandurin

The day it does is the day I become interested in it.

I love Smash Live for the 360 - only because of the online Co-Op (the HD and 16:9 don't hurt either.) Would I love it if it were just a straight up Smash ROM? No, I wouldn't even download it (let alone pay for it.)

The day Nintendo makes these VC titles Co-Op online enabled is the day my Wii sees heavy VC use. That would be killer.

Lets be fair, you can find alot of junk on XBOX Live as well but the Wii is getting some serious crap at an almost alarming rate.

Bread_or_Decide

what about, SMB LoZ, super star soldier, comix zone, sonic, gunstar heroes,r type, castlevania DKC, kid icarus, biomberman, and all of those absolutely amazing games?

funny how you forgot them.

This thread is about the developers who have the audacity to sell games like TENNIS, and BASEBALL.

I am fully aware of those games but thats not what this thread is about. You may notice I did not say "VC has no good games." I said third parties are putting some truly questionable content on the VC. Shouldn't Nintendo be doing some sort of quality control on that thing?

then every system is a dumping ground because there's always plenty more junk than gems.

wow....you just showed us all how young you are. Games such as those were classics way back then. Space Harrier, Tennis, Baseball, Bonanaza Bros, Victory Run, New Adventure Island, Streets of Rage, Legend of Kage and many others kept us gamers busy and happy for a long time back then.

[QUOTE="FoxHoundADAM"]At least they release more than one game a month....I'm looking at your XBLA!!!!!_vacant_

Doesn't change anything. Nintendo still releases a bunch a month, and XBLA gets 1 a month... regardless of upgrades and improvements.

Well yeah Sony has its tried and true, but you can't deny its already got some new IPs and even Resistance was right out of the gate. The rate of new IPs on the PS brand with every gen is pretty impressive.

I've been gaming since I was old enough to beg my parents for an NES. I love old games, but as I grow older I do want new kinds of games with new experiences. Beyond the simplicity of whatĀ was capableĀ in the 1980's.

100% agree. Online Tetris Attack, for instance, would be nice.

You just blew my mind.

You have no idea how much time me and two of my buddies wasted (would hardly consider it a waste though) playing Tetris Attack many years ago. The battles were friggin' epic. We could practically move and link the symbols with our eyes closed. The sound of that crazy trumpet when you know you linked enough to drop a huge brick, it's burned into my memory. Every once and a while I still break out the SNES and that game for old time's sake when we're all around - it still kicks ass.

Of course I did. Streets of Rage is one of those that you remember liking, then you play it and you realize that it really wasn't that good at all. Nostalgia is an evil thing.

Not true, SOR still holds up today, granted it's much harder and blockier than I remember but it's still very playable, whereas SOR2 is even better (not even aged). Some games age really badly, like Golden Axe, but SOR has done quite well.

Of course that will always be the case, especially with the most popular of consoles.

I give a big fat SHAME ON YOU to the developers putting crap like legend of kage on the VC.

Dear gawd..does anyone really remember playing that game? Makes me angry just thinking about it lol.

Personally, I am happy if they release one good game a week and 2 crap ones, then you can not worry about having a bad game. I heard Star Fox 64 is slated for next week, glad I have 1000 points saved up! :D

Streets of Rage is brilliant, anyone who says else is deeply mistaken.
