If they don't come out with a $70-100 slice on their delux model, i don't see how could anyone chose this system over ps4 no matter how much of a Nintendo fanboy you are or the thickness of your fanboy goggles.

When you think of it, isn't it funny how fking overpriced WiiU is vs what it really offers? Its the wiiu that is ridiculously overpriced or Sony will be losing hundreds(s) of dollars per system which i don't think they can afford.

Yeah already a topic on it.

And yes, everybody (including hardcore sheep) knows that a price drop is both necessary and imminent.

I mean.. do you really think Nintendo doesnt know this?

Edit: and yes, of course Sony will be losing money up front.  Not as much as with the PS3 since they didnt have to research and develope so much proprietry hardware.  But they will lose money for a while.

Does anybody else know how much of a loss a price cut would inflict? But I agree. They're screwed if they're not at minimum $100 less than the competition throughout this generation.

At the very least, they'll get rid of the Basic Wii U sku and make the Deluxe sku $300.  But they were going to do that before Sony announced that, so they could pull a 3ds and knock a nice chunk off the price.

Also, let's not forget the Wii U's controller play's a factor in the Wii U's price.  Sony may not even have the camera bundled with the $400 version of the Ps4.  And we don't know anything about the hard drive.

But yeah, there's going to be a price drop.

Probably not too much.  The hardware obviously isnt breaking the bank.

And Nintendo software prints money so they can more than make up their losses on hardware if it comes to it.

The controller excuse is irrelevant. In what? Six months WiiU haven't gotten a single game even worth mentioning the use of the pad... Bundle every system with the pro controller, just sell it waaaaaaay less than ps4 or you'll be in real shit.

I'm guessing you havent played a Wii U, but the tablet is deeply integrated into the system.  And the few games that I've played for the system make very significant use of it.

What you're saying is that Nintendo should cut out the one aspect that makes the system stand out and call it done.

Nintendo would be better off just making a new console than following that advice.

You've got less than 8 hours.  But for now, one thing, Rayman Legends will make perfect use of the pad, and don't forget about off TV play, which is huge.  At least there's Nintendo land out now, you should at least play that.

On a side note, they're making Wii U games compatible with the Classic controller pro as well.

What im saying is, their console would work as well with the pro controller and IF you want to use the pad, you buy it separately. Right now they're  forcing you to have one (EXACTLY what MS is doing with Kinect) and this is what i don't want and the main reason the system is so overpriced.

I perfectly understand what you're saying.

But the WiiU cant compete with graphics.  It cant compete with 3rd parties.  The tablet + 1st party is all it really has.  If you lose the tablet, you've lost the only appeal to the hardware end.

Making the tablet optional basically means making the tablet irrelevant.  There goes the development standard.  There goes any chance for devs to try unique things.

And like I said before, its deeply integrated into the console.  The reason why I assume that you havent played a WiiU (or know very little about it) is because its not just a random peripheral that you can just do without, the way you seem to think.

Good news: 500GB HDD, and the camera does not come with it, which I'm glad about.

About the camera, really good news.  Probably why they could price it like that too.

I heard the rumor about it not shipping with a camera weeks ago and thought it could be true, and I hoped.  Wow that's great.

You're forgetting the cost of online play..although Nintendo is REALLY far behind there (more so than Sony was with the PS3 I think).

Im certainly against this stupid paywall but they're giving me games for free and its cheaper than xbl so i guess that's passable. Was looking at this specs/functionality comparison sheet between the three, just look at wiiu compared to the other two, its pathetic :?

I figured if either launched around $400 the WiiU would be forced to drop in price and that is when I will get one.

Using Cow logic the PS4 actually costs $399 + 7 years of PS+ at $50 per year which means the PS4 actually costs you $750 Meanwhile the WiiU costs $299 + $40-$50 for a 500GB external hard drive so $350. WiiU is the winner in a landslide defeat!!!

Wiiu is closer in tech to the PS 3 which is $300. PS 3 has a huge library with many discounted games. Wiiu cant play any of those next gen games we're seeing at E3.

Ok 1st, I can't believe you are STILL obsessed with talking crap about anything Nintendo, it's like a year?

2nd, you're absolutely right, it needs a price cut big time, how about say 279.99$ ? 249.99 deluxe would be very ideal.

And 3rd, who cares. I think at this point sheep are happy at the crazyness between Sony/MS and would just be happy with their fav game announcements and if any, some few nice 3rd party exclusives. Â
