According to Rage, disc space is an issue. They have said that even if they use two discs, it won't do much good. They can only have 6.8GB on each DVD because MS requires 2GB of additional software on each disc. They also stated that if this issue is'nt overcome, the visuals won't be as good as the PS3 version. Remember that most games that are out on the X360 now is easily using up 6.8GB. We can only imagine how much more content we would have had on multiplats if both consoles had a BD drive:).The disc space isnt an issue. Its that MS charges a hefty fee to developers that use more than one disc.
Thats the real problem.

[QUOTE="Generalmojo"]Forza 3's second disk isn't mandatory. im no expert, but..doesnt the second disk contain 25% of the full forza3 expereince? what did u pay for exactly?*Looks at Forza3*
"bu bu buh, 360 dont get silly mandatory installs"

Yes but only right here on system wars. Also it will only affect cows because they love to bring up anything negative true or not.
If they don't start releasing multi-disk games, than yes. I can tell you know, Dragon Age would have had much better enviromental textures if it had been on two disks.
As it has been stated numerous times it is Microsoft's policy that hurts DVD, not DVD itself. If Microsoft didn't charge per disk, overcharge on HDD and didn't deny games from having an installation requirement; the Blu-ray disk drive in the PS3 would have no advantages over 360s DVDs.
Just like Blu-ray has no advantages over PC gaming despite still using DVDs.
It's already an issue right now. Look at the big JRPG's like Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, FFXIII. They're all coming out on multiple discs, which is inherently annoying. And may have led to a FFXIII graphics downgrade, though that's a bit of PS3-owner paranoia seeping in.masterpinky2000
First of all, not many people even played Lost Odssey or Blue Dragon, so I don't think those are goosd indicators.
Secondly, multi-disk is not that bad, especially with install. It is merely the way things are going to be. MS wanted to keep the console at a lower price than Sony, and thats why they didn't do BluRay.

Yeah! God knows what we'd do without uncompressed sound.
Multiple Disks are not that bad, they take two seconds to swap, a few games is not an indication of an issue, if it was a good percentage of games that required multiple disks than it would be a problem.
Its not so bad yet, but games like Forza 3 already require multiple discs. Rage is one game that is a bit troubled on 360, since its split in 2 parts, but it needs 3 discs on 360, while I see bigger games having to be split in the future. Its not like the next Xbox might not have Blu ray, all they have to do is ask nicely ;)
what about uncompressed textures?
Trinners
Uncompressed textures is misleading.
The texture quality can only be as good as what you're hardware allows, if you actually did store uncompressed textures they would be far too large for console memory.
Textures are only storage limited in the minority of circumstances, today's console games are far more memory limited.
much like yourself and the ps3?it will only affect cows because they love to bring up anything negative true or not.

Already is! FFXIII because of the multiple DVD. You can't go to some of the places in later part of the game.

The sound is one of the features that makes Uncharted 2 and other PS3 exclusives great. Not only can they have high bitrate in these games, but they can have tons of different sound samples, making the experience better:). Try UC2 with a surround system, and you'll see what I mean. It does'nt have to be a new high tech surround system, you'll still hear that the audio samplings are alot better than in any X360 game. Please Log In to post.
