Will 360 outsell PS3 4/1 in the US when GTAIV + 360 price drop hit the same day?

We all know it outsold the PS3 4/1 when Halo 3 arrived, now the talk is that the 360 will drop its price upon the arrival of GTAIV. This month it looks like the 360 is outselling the PS3 2/1 in the US, so im just wondering when this happens will it be 4/1 or 5/1 or 6/1? Just wondering, and dont flame.....Reyes360

Again no, Halo was the flagship game for MS. GTA made it big on the PS. People may know that its also on the 360 but nobody is waiting to buy a 360 because of GTA. Especially since they both will be available on the same day. Expect GTA sales to be huge and there to be a very small spike in both 360 and PS3 sales. Worlwide however PS3 sales will spike seeing as how in Japan the PS3 is the console of choice and Europe loves their PS3 as well.

The Halo spike is over and you will never see another game achieve what Halo 3 achieved on the 360.

I love this myth. First off, no one really knows what the profit is off of consoles. If you think so, go find me hard evidence. I won't hold my breath. I'm not saying PS3 doesn't lose money, just don't tell me they are the only ones to ever have this happen and that its impossible to overcome. Second, ever heard of a loss leader? You use one item to bring people in, even if you lose money, because later on those buyers will pay you back. In PS3's instance, they buy games, attract more attantion, and it snowballs from there.

Also, how can MS afford to drop the price more? You have to build value in something. Yes, they have the library but they don't have the reliability. As they lower their price, the PS3 looks better and better. The PS3 holds value. And as PS3's library grows and 360 titles like PDZ become laughable, more and more value is established in the PS3.

Are you kidding. For one GTA is on both consoles and if there is any console it is best known on it would be a PS system. So most likely people will pick up a PS system to play. As for your bundle idea, nobody wants a game like GTA 4 with rumor of online play to be bundled with a system with 0 HDD.

Number one, its not proven to be outselling the PS3 2:1, in fact Sony is contesting that claim stating they dont have accurate PS3 numbers. MS never had SOnys numbers they just guessed by asking a few chains. I am sure both the PS3 and 360s sales are well and its because.....drum roll please......it Black Freakin Friday Month. You know the month that most people do their holiday shopping. And once again you ignore the big picture of Worldwide sales. Thats why the 360 is stuck in the position it is at, because it lacks worldwide sales.

Yup. MS has set up the x360 for a great price cut once GTA4 drops. And I hope MS pays for all the TV commercials like they did for Madden.

You can also expect the x360 to maintain its sales lead in Europe when GTA4 drops. X360 sales are great in Europe.

I know the Wii's sales are great in Europe, but I haven't seen one cow able to prove such without VGC.

please understand that europe sales are almost entirely speculation. there's no way of tracking it at all, and no VGC are not reliable. i know from my experiences over from italy to england a couple months ago that the PS3 wasn't selling well from what i saw first hand. but does that mean anything? absolutely not. fact of the matter is, fanboys claim that europe is sony country when fanboys haven't even traveled over to europe and probably couldn't point out england from ireland - the PS3 is very expensive over there, just look at the current dollar to euro exchange rate if you don't really know how much of a difference their prices really are.

GTA IV is a mutiplat game and the DL content that MS is talking about could very easily be on the retail Blu-Ray disc because of the extra space. Would cows drop this pipe dream? MS paid big bucks for that EXCLUSIVE content. Rockstar has reaffirmed several times it is EXCLUSIVE that means it will be on the 360 and 360 alone. Rockstar has confirmed nothing about DLC for the PS3. They have said nothing about GTA5. Where do you get this stuff from?

What? First off, it's not a myth if it's true. It's a fact that Sony is losing considerable coin on each piece of hardware sold. When the PS3 launched they were losing $240 for every 60gb sold and even more for the 20 gig. Surely hardware costs have come down, but let's be realistic here and say they are losing at least 100-150 for each piece of hardware sold, and if they drop the price again then they'll of course lose more.

As far as your point about the PS3 being a loss leader, well, according to NPD every month, PS3 software sales are seriously lagging behind that of the Wii and 360's. Yes, less people own the PS3 but their attach rate is lower as well.

Lastly, your point on MS not being able to drop the price because they have tons of games makes little to no sense at all. Last time I checked the PS2 was outselling the PS3 hand over fist BECAUSE it is cheaper and has a stable of great games. The PS3 hardware at it's current price does have more value, when you take into account its features, but that value quickly diminshes once you realize there aren't very many compelling titles to play on it. I think you're the one twisting things here.
