When the Dreamcast launced Sony introduced the PS1 new design at a lower price, and pulled in a lot of customers.

If the PS2 price drops how will it affect Wii and 360 sales considering if the 360 price drops anytime soon?

It's already selling at 79-129 dollars. It's not getting any lower soon, but it doesn't need to. It outsold everything other than the Wii last month.

No it will not. Dreamcast was out a while before it's competitors leaving it as the sole system on the market against a much cheaper system. If the PS2 price was dropped it's effects would be spread out across the 360, Wii, and PS3 and thus I don't feel it will really be felt by any of the systems. Furthermore, I feel that the public as a whole is pretty much ready to move on, all the systems are out, the GameCube and the Xbox are on the verge of death, the PS2 is doing ok by the numbers, but let's be real, it's just running on the fumes of the massive success it enjoyed last gen.

PS1 had little effect n the Dreamcast, the AD campaign for the PS2 did all the work.

ps2 outsold xbox 360 the entire year of 2006, imagine if ps2 wasn't there the 360 would of sold alot more, but ps2 Stole ALOT of sales in 2006.

That's a joke and you know it.  I can prove it too.  During Christmas Amazon sold discounted 360's and sold them out within a minute.

No, it would effect the PS3 sales like it effected the PS2's sales, the DC comparison makes no sense and is misleading. Sure it outsold it, but your not trying to connote that at all with your example, are you?

There is a certain psychological thing about sales. For example, think about when the PS3 hits $400, mentally that sounds cheap. But that's what the XBOX360 came out as.

the PS2 with its large line up of greatest hits game for under $20 is very apealing , with the 360 you would still have to buy games at $60 a pop

Thing is, by the time the PS3 is $400, think where the 360 will probably be. They probably will have dropped to $300 for the Premium by then if not before.

As for the PS2, it has an overwhelming price/selection appeal: thousands of games for $100. People are getting PS2's at this point, regardless of whatever else they have, just so as not to miss out (IOW, I think there are plenty of people with 360's and PS2's, Wii's and PS2's, or even--like me--PC's and PS2's).

May I recommend double-checking the selection at a Wal-Mart. There are plenty of $30 games, and some were released at $30-40 (like Table Tennis).
