Will Bloodborne put an end to the Sony naysaying?

Even though the PS4 is number one and hugely successful, it still gets a lot of flak for its weak exclusive titles so far. I personally enjoy Sony first part games, including games like The Order 1886, DriveClub, and Killzone. But for many, that just isn't enough. Will Bloodborne put an end to that? Or will the critics find something else? Let me know your thoughts, SW.

1 game won't save all the flops. But Bloodborne is gonna be delicious.

Bloodborne's a Souls game and recently gameplay footage has not disappointed. I don't see it underperforming critically. What's sad is that it'll sell less than garbage like The Order.

its a souls game so it will get good reviews and the games press and hipsters will jizz themselves for years after release. still, a niche game isn't a reason to buy a ps4.

Bloodborne is going to be awesome anyway. I just can't see that game flopping.

Eh. It's just one game, one that I'm not particularly excited for nor will i purchase, but i understand the appeal.

I think naughty dog has to unleash their guns.

I loved driveclub btw. In no way is it a system seller for me though, horizon 2 was for the xone for me.

Hopefully bloodbourne does well.

I was a ps3 fanboy around 2007-2008. I literally played lair and told everyone how awesome it was. Not doing that anymore!

driveclub is good though, not the best but it's good.

Possibly the most immature, puerile and pointless post on here in quite some time and that's up against some very stiff competition.

You have such a shallow outlook on things. If I were to skip a game based on reviews alone, I'd miss out on some awesome experiences.

I always feel bad in situations like this, it's probably a child who will read this and burst into tears. It's a jungle out there. Did I say jungle? I meant nursery.

After as many stinkers as Sony has dropped, a single rough diamond (all Souls games have been pretty under-polished) isn't going to redeem them. And I'm more than certain that From would, if given the chance, prefer it to be multiplatform, given how much more money they'd make.

EDIT: And to those saying "Bloodborne can't flop" must not have been around in late 2006 when Twilight Princess' 8.8/10 stopped the internet.

Well Bloodborne alone isn't enough to justify a PS4 (even if it does look awesome), but it'll probably be better than anything the Xbox One has.

It's one game. It's looking fantastic, but it's still only one game.

or even when lemmings said MCC can't flop. you'd think by now people would stop labeling certain games as "guaranteed AAA". If bloodborne fails to get atleast an 8 on here this place will be a nightmare for mods

Bloodborne will be awesome.

Souls games have and will always only appeal to a niche in the market, it will be critically acclaimed no doubt (if it's in fact good) but like all of the other Souls games it will not be a corporate sales success. I can see a million or so Souls fans buying it, maybe another million people who are unsure of what it is buying because there is nothing else to play or curiosity and the rest having no interest in it at all.

Well obviously we haven't seen much of it yet but I don't think it will be 'a souls game' at all. They must know they'll need a bit more than that to have a big hit on the PS4. Sales will matter to them they are not slaves to souls fans, nor should they be.

Well everything they have shown thus far lays it out as another entry in the Souls series or what could be considered a spiritual successor.

I mean, it'll most likely give cows some bragging rights on SW this year. I'm guessing AAA on lock, goty contender... it's a stretch, but even AAAA isn't completely out of the question.

Flops stick for years though. You'll be hearing about some of these for the rest of the gen.

It wouldn't invalidate that the PS4 is lacking in exclusives.

It may well turn out to be exactly that but they would be stupid to do that. Niche games that thrive on uber hard difficulty they know that won't cut it on the PS4 either they make it accessible while making it challenging which would be successful or they don't. I'm guessing they will. They make great games which means they're not stupid :)

Yes, this single masterpiece will make sheep, hermits, and lemmings take notice of Sony's achievements and dedication to the core gaming market.

Bloorborne is not exactly mainstream, even if it has the potential to become a masterpiece.

Persona 5 will probably do a better job.

It's only one game, so it's not like we're on the brink of the PS4's golden age.

Plus it's the third Souls game in, what, four years?

These things are approaching a yearly release schedule, so the market is feeling a little saturated at the moment.

Not to mention other developers are joining the market in creating these kind of games; e.g. Lords of the Fallen.

It reminds me of the PS3 when it had no AAA exclusives. Then MGS4 came along and people stfu. Then one quality exclusive after the other came out. I actually loved the order and I can't wait for bloodborne.

People pretty much follow along to trends and momentum. When the PS3 was doing awful in 2006-2007, and all of its exclusives were going multiplat, no one had anything positive to say about it. It only took one game, Metal Gear Solid 4 - the PS3's first AAAE - for people's perceptions of the system to start to change.

I'm not sure why Sony consoles start off with flops after flops, but they do and they have a history of doing so. Still, no one looks back and thinks the PS3 was the weak link of last gen anymore. The important thing for perception is that Bloodborne needs to be the official start of a turnaround for the system.

Might slow it down. Until the next flop or they announce Lair 2 or Haze 2. They had a lot of bad ones last gen too.

I doubt Bloodborne will be officially hyped AAA here. Also the PlayStation is leading with current gen flops. It needs more than one game to stop the negative views of their crap library.

During the first few years of the PS3, cows would make endless threads about "the power of the Cell", how Final Fantasy Versus 13 would end the console war, and how the PS3 was the best despite not having any decent games. Everybody else just ignored them (and the PS3).

Once MGS4 came out, the cows continued doing the same old thing. They talked about how the PS3 had the best library because of GODS OF THE PATRIOTS, how the PS3 is the only system that could get an AAAAE because of the power of the Cell, and how FFV13 would destroy everything.

Everyone else just rolled their eyes and ignored them. Critical acclaim or not, it was just one game on a (then) fading console.

Perceptions only really started to change later in the PS3's life, from memory.

Bloodborne will get decent scores, but the game isn't for everyone, sales won't be that great

1 game does not a library make. Unless you're cows and you try to live off it like they did with MGS for 2/3 of a gen :P

Its only 1 game a year into the consoles life. Many more great games are yet to come that we dont even know about.
