Will Call of duty continue to appear on the years best games list?

Ever since cod4, all the cod games have been featured in the gamecritics top 10 goty list. Including last years black cops.

This is a streak that no game franchise has been able to achieve (on top of selling 45 million copies in a span of 30 months).

Now that Battlfield 3 is going to add some light/minor/senseless competition, do you believe that COD won't appear on the year end list for the first time since 06'?

Its going to dissapear soon.

But probrably after MW3.

I'd be very disappointed if it did.

If the games are good why not ? Not saying MW3 will be any good, but none of us really know anything about the game.

Yep, 10 years from now we'll be seeing "Call of Duty :We ran out of good game ideas so just buy the damn game 2" appear in Reviewers top 10 list.

It'll still continue to feature in many "Best of..." lists, and continue to score highly, no doubt. Also, "black cops" :lol:

It's going to die down in the next couple of years because Actvision won't be able to react to the warning signs the franchise is currently showing when these warning signs end up becoming critcal to the franchise's life in the next couple of years.

I can't speak for review scores, but there is always something that comes along that bumps whatever's popular into the back.

As long as mainstream gaming websites exist then yes.

Inmyopinion the warning signs are starting to show and the sales may drop for the COD franchise in the next couple of COD games after MW3 unless Acticvsion changes the MP and SP portions of the game toplease everyoneand you can't deny that. The warning signs have been showing since MW2. One warning sign was shown through the brokenMW2 multiplyer and the somewhat weird campaign storytelling. The second warning sign was shown through the major IW's employeesexodus last year in March.The third warning sign was showen through the many problems plauging literally all the versions of BO last year like the Wii disc drive errors, PC crashing issues and the PS3's online connection issues.The fourth warning sign was shown through the first main MW3 trailer I saw for the campaign. It literally ripped stuff you did in the other MW games and, but with a diffferent function this time and you cannot deny that.The only new thing I seen in MW3 is the actually continuation of the kinda good plot when it makes sense and the CODElite thing for multiplayer.

Unless Activsion and the COD development teamsactually looks at these warning sign in the near future they may have another GH and TH to deal with and don't assume the sales are going to continually rise for the COD franchise because they have reached their peak with BO.

The game sold 25 million across all platforms. Are you really going to try and say it's not the 360's best selling game :|

By this time, it probably did outsell GT5 on PS3. But attempting to post that as some kind of downside to the PS3's library is ridiculous when it's sold even more on the other platform.

To be frank your opinion does not matter. For 5 consecutive installments the series has continued to shatter record. Facts > opinions.

Activision's pockets run pretty deep, so probably.

MW3 will but the series is gonna become much less popular after that.

Look what happened with Guitar Hero.. if they keep pumping out these games year after year they are going to lose popularity.

The name helps to get it there at least.

Just google it. You'll get tons of links about it. The one I was referring to I saw on GoNintendo a few days ago. I'll see if I can find it.

Because it seemed as if you said it as it was a bad thing. Remember pretty much everything here said will be countered with something (right, incorrect, or pointless posts really.)

It will appear on the list as long as a) the casual gamers keep falling for the hype and marketing of the series and b) the so called "professional game critics" keep gushing over the same damn game, and praising it when the games no longer deserve the praise (CoD4 was great, WaW had an enjoyable campaign but an OK multiplayer, but then it went down-hill imo, yet game critics keep praising the series, even though its essentially the same game re-skinned and being released each year). Honestly, I actually dont know why we put so much faith in the words of game critics when most of them are gamers just like us and well degree wise, well you get the point.

hasn't been on my goty list since cod 4.

I can tell you why most franchises don't get put on GOTY lists every year; it's because most franchises don't get realeased yearly.
