Will Crysis flop? Did the graphics live up to expectations?

The Gameplay more then exceeded my expectations. Its nothing like FarCry in that regard (which would have been ok with me anyway).

The graphics, on very high with DX10, look every bit as good as all those videos weve seen. It just doesnt run well at all at those settings.

The funny thing about this is, I am running CRYSIS ON MAX. Yes, you've heard it here first folks! Now you may be asking, so what? Well, try running it with a 3.0GHZ+HT, 1.5GB of RAM, and a X1600 PRO 512MB, yes you heard me, I'm running everything in Crysis on max (except Shader and Shadow, which is set to low). And it looks really good at a good 30 FPS. I don't know why they are telling people they need some uber computer, maybe for the DX10 portion, but on DX9, it looks fantastic. I will be buying this game now, that I know I don't need some super computer.

Oh and the demo was awesome, very intense, you can either go Rambo, or go Sam Fisher, which ever style you choose you will have fun with. Can't wait to get a copy!

RE5 isn't out so you can't really compare it can you?

I can say that after actually playing Crysis it looked just like the videos and screen shots that they have released...which I didn't honestly expect.

How could you not expect that? The graphics are not that mind blowing after what we've seen recently with consoles, I have no clue what's wrong with people.

How could you not expect that? The graphics are not that mind blowing after what we've seen recently with consoles, I have no clue what's wrong with people.

Humm... how do I explain it....it's in the small details of an active, living breathingworld where crysis really defines it's self from over games, it's more then just it's tech graphics, but it's attention to detail and the overall feel of the world. A video doesn't really give you a full view of a game, you have to play it, thats why demos are so important.

What is more important though are these 2 points

1) Game play is REALLY good and is actually fresh and fun.

2) All the attention to detail, graphics and physics gels together with the gameplay to form a believable and interesting world.

If you play it like a standard FPS just run n' gunning not taking advantage of the physics engine or nanosuit then yes, it will be like FarCry (well, the first level at least. FarCry never had aliens, frozen enviroment, nor a zero-g spaceship). The AI also amazing. The best I've seen in a game. trix5817

well... I am currently am playing the demo on high settings @ 1680x1050... and to be perfectly honest I am not wowed sure it has some coolness to it... But I dunno COD4 demo and UT3 demo blows this one away.

I just don't see anything special about it :\

Best game of all time IMHO. Im running crysis in DX9 max out with a 8800GTS 320 at 1024x768 with no slow with 4xAA on. Graphics wise this blows GEARS out of the water ( and I say gears because that was the best looking game until now). Gameplay wise no FPS in the past can match it none. Story so far is amazing. Emeny AI the best I have been up agaisnt. Sound AAAA status.

I mean on GS it might not get about a 9.5 but on other sites it will avg 9.8 nothing is in the same league.

Okay, I just finished playing the game at my friends house and have only 2 gripes.

The AI was not very good at all. I walked up to a guy and pointed a gun right at him, and he just said Hi and then sat down and read a newspaper. also the Graphics seemed pretty average cpmpared to some Wii games.

overall. not too bad but not great either.
