crysis is know for its graphics, size of its maps, and physics, however as time goes on the all those things just arent going to be impressive anymore. eventrualy years later we are going to look at a game that looks like crysis and going to say "man we through this looked great". do you think its going tobe a gaem that everyone remembers ten or twenty years later like doom, or will it be forgotten.

It's already 4 years old and we're still talking about it; how much longer do you reasonably expect it to last?

There are 2 possiblities a) Yeah as a graphical game. (nope BF3 does not look better) b) no because not as many people care about graphics as they care about gameplay. After crysis set the bar so high, all companies try to improve gameplay rather graphics and no one seemed to enjoy a game less because it did not look like crysis, infact if you exclude bf3, i dont think there is any action game that actually bothers will amazing graphics. That being said i think rage and rage is shaping up to be much more impressive fps than crysis and i would bet on them to be more memorable than crysis. Funny thing is, rage doesnt even have good graphics and it sacrifices visuals for more fps. This is how things are nowdays.

Crysis is one of the best games I've ever played. It's unrivalled this gen (FPS wise). Truly amazing experience. But I still think FarCry was the better game... But only just. :)

Ok? I bought a digital copy of Far Cry on a sale, it still holds up pretty good. About as good as a game from that period can. You haven't played Crysis haven't you?

I thought we got past the point where console fanboys said Crysis was just graphics, but apparently not...

"Crysis is visually stunning, packed with intelligent, thrilling gameplay, and easily one of the greatest shooters ever made."

It's funny watching every Lemming and Cow and their dogs bleat on about how Crysis is nothing but graphics.

Right, gamespot is so right,

Oblivion: "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is simply one of the best role-playing games ever made."

Also MSG4 is graphics king!!!

People like the open ended gameplay a lot. 15 years from now I don't think people will really talk about it much though. A game has to be really special for it to do that. SS2 or of similar caliber.

I think it'll be much like Unreal 1 was. A graphically outstanding and advanced game for it's time but nowadays it feels rather boring.

Yes, just like Unreal, which was the Crysis of its day back in 1998, with the most advanced, powerful and beautiful engine at the time in a detailed world.

I think it will ... it will become one of those seminal type PC games that people use to compare against other games and systems of the time.

Games like Doom, Quake, Deus Ex, Half Life, System Shock2, Planescape Torment, Thief 1&2 ... i.e. games that brought new things to their respective genres and were the standard by others were measured by, even for a few years after they came out. Apart from the graphics it's gameplay is fantastic and genre defining.

Crysis, 4 years after release, is still talked about just as much today as it was when it came out. Just like the other games on the aformentioned list.

Yes i am mad  because the shooting SUCKED, tons of bullets to kill, many misses, ai was buggy and you died fast. Crappy fps really, just graphics and gimmicky suit.

But whats the point really? There are tons of other reviews argeeing with gamespot's stance on oblivion, the user ratings alone prove that.;)

I know I'll still appreciate it. The thing I liked most about the game was its gameplay, and I've seldomly had as much fun playing a shooter as whenever I was playing through Crysis. That kind of thing will always stick with you.

Did you try head shots...wait what does many misses mean? died fast? Perhaps you should play others types of games if you can't aim or use cover properly.

nope...crysis is also great fun....even the bugs can be funny. in the first level i once threw a chicken at someone to kill them and that alerted more guards so a big firefight ensued. when i had killed all the soldiers in nasty ways i was looking around at my handywork. i then saw a dead chicken floating upside down moving down the road. it was quite funny at the time. im going to have more fond memories of crysis than of any other FPS this gen as time goes by and it wont be because of the graphics.

oh come on, i am having an argument on how gamespot reviews are "right" only when you agreee with em. In any case i have played more fps than most people outhere. I got to say that i have played from doom to unreal tournament, to soldier of fortune, to rainbow six to cod, to far cry and arma 2.

The only game that the shooting felt soo bad and the weapons and ai felt so un-connected was crysis. I have never seen a game that the weapon miss so much and ai dodges so much, perhaps jedi knight 2 with its dynamic crosshair and quake 3 ai but apart from that. Also the armor mode is a joke in crysis, you run out of energy so fast, yet the other nanosuit soldiers in the game take entire airstrikes to die. Nice, real nice.

played the demo on his 8400GT never taking silencer off confirmed

Firebird-5

What are those assumptions? Yes i played the demo, but i never had a 8400GT and i was smart enough not to use the silencer. You sure you aint talking about your experiance because all this information is too specific. But since you mention that silencer did not do much damage, you do realize that crytek patched the game in order to increase the damage you cause and reduce the damage you take in 1.2?

So my argument is correct, i rest my case, have a nice day.

If by great and memorable you mean still remembered by most and a great game then yes. Just look at a Doom. It's 18 years old, still remembered by many people (who were old enough to play it at the time) and it's still a great game.

If by great and memorable you mean does it still to compare to current games (2022)? Probably not.

So you're mad at a game because you're not skillful enough to headshot, hide and switch armour functions.

On the other hand i pointed out that they changed it on patch 1.2. So i am backing up with facts. Its allright though, not everyone likes games for graphics, no need to make up stuff into a desperate attempt to defend your game ;)

It's one of those few shooters that do not rely on cinematic sequences and cool explosions on the backround to make it fun. Although as usual with these type of sandbox games if you suck at it or lack imagination the game will end up being boring.

Whay you talking about? tis a compilation of main gameplay and graphical enchancements, level is the same as the one in crysis warhead, LOL no even crysis, warhead was improved from crysis, they even increased the amount of damage your armor mode takes, which is the SECOND time they did that. But crytek fails so the enemies that used nanosuits took more damage also....and ofcourse in crysis 2 they did what every dev does when something is annoying the player. They removed enemies with nanosuit entirely.

I wonder who is full of it, me or you that you show crysis warhead with moded gameplay features and a master player trying to pass it as the default game? Once again my point is proven, please go on.

No, he just calls his series " Cry Hard" there is no mod...He's using a tweaked ini to make the enemies tougher, but that's about it. The video shows Crysis is as good as you can make it to be. It can be easily more cinematic than scripted garbage like MW, or you can just find cheap A.I exploits and not have fun with the game, if you have no imagination.

So when you said "I've played that nonexistent mod "= you're full of it.

http://www.moddb.com/games/crysis/downloads/crysis-cry-hard-mod-compilation-blood-ragdoll nonexistent  and yeah, crysis is as good as you can make it, sadly the standards by crytek were set low on gameplay and high and graphic and thankfully it does not hold a candle on mw. As for cheap ai with exploits? IS THAT A JOKE? youtube shows many video of crysis ai getting messed up, imo crysis has the buggiest ai ever. But you decided not to show that right? Yup you ARE full of it, i am done arguing with you, expect no reply, for minute i thought you were honest but you are as biased as the rest.

I actually found Far Cry a much better FPS than Crysis. I remember playing Far Cry in 2004 thinking "Now THIS is more of what Half Life 2 SHOULD have been!" Advanced aggressive AI, large open maps, solid gunplay. The only issue with Far Cry was the lame story.

Crysis had smaller, less open maps than Far Cry (though they were still big), and the gunplay was a little less interesting.

Although Crysis was still stellar. I remember thinking that Crysis was Halo CE on steroids.

[QUOTE="GeneralShowzer"]

[QUOTE="dakan45"] Whay you talking about? tis a compilation of main gameplay and graphical enchancements, level is the same as the one in crysis warhead, LOL no even crysis, warhead was improved from crysis, they even increased the amount of damage your armor mode takes, which is the SECOND time they did that.

-He isn't using any mods, his video series is called " Cry Hard ", hope that clears out the confusion.

no cheats, no macros, no hacks, no nothing, the only modifications running are a custom nanosuit texture and a modified diff_bauer.cfg to make the game harder then Delta, i'll post a list of what changes have been made when i get around to typing them all out, as for the suit, I never got around to using suit shortcuts so everything you see is done with middle mouse button.

Crysis is as good as you make it, and you didn't make it any good.

Criticizing bad A.I from the guy with the Oblivion avatar. Completely unscripted A.I will never be perfect it worked in Crysis 95% of the time.

THIS far cry was a much better fps in everything, and i did not like half life 2 either, i was a big fan of half life, but hl2 was more of an action adventure game than an fps. Trully not a worthy sequel to the first, even hl1 had better ai and far more agressive. Everyone was playing half life 2, i played far cry. Also i AGREE the maps in crysis were smaller and less open, just compate the first levels from both games and you will see that crysis draws a path across the coast line that you folow. Gunplay was terrible though.

Dont care, crysis ai never worked properly 100% of the time. I coudlnt finish the game once without running on a bug and that comes from someone who did not experiance a bug on either oblviion or stalker. Although there are worse like boiling point.

You do realize that the Far Cry A.I was worse tenfold... You made one sound and everyone on the map rushed to your location. Crysis A.I is a lot better, better than Oblivion too, which got stuck in walls most of the time. But this isn't a problem in these games apparently.

The occasional A.I bug, which did not happen often, I've played the game about six times RUINED IT....

we agree to dissagree then because i encounted neither and i dissagree COMPLETLY with everything you said. IMO far cry ai was much more natural and reallistic, unlike those crazy koreans that shoot without aiming.

This is how things are nowdays.dakan45
Oh yes it does...

Crysis is looking dated in spots and even has flaws. Even maxed out it can look really bad at times.

It will be remembered like other progressive shooters of their times are. As games in the history of a genre that were highlight-able points for being important in doing something different and well. Do you think anyone is going to remember COD MW2/WAW/BLOPS in 15 years time? Hell no.
