Will Devil May Cry(DmC) match the standards of the series ?

Lets forget about how horrible Dante looks in DmC but do you think Ninja Theory will be able to match the style and gameplay the franchise is famous for? Looking at their past work do you think the gameplay will be ridiculously fun or as boring as Heavenly Sword and Enslaved? Who knows maybe they're going to shock us all :\

i'm personally excited....yes the look of the new dante did shock me at first, but honestly, you put some white hair on him and he still looks like him....just a teenager of course

from the trailer he still looks cocky as hell and looks like he has great moves

i think we're gonna see this arrogant punk teen turn into the dante we know in this game

Ninja Theory can definitely make great games, just they seem to have a tendency to have more flash than substance, so they'll need to learn how to balance it out more.


I'm sure the combat will be similar to Heavenly Sword, but with more depth and a jump button. Devil May Cry weapons by themselves really didn't have that much depth, but when you mix the weapons together that's when it shines. I think Ninja Theory can get the gameplay right as long as DMC team is helping them with gameplay. As for it matching the standards? Uhh what standard? The real question is will it follow the good/bad pattern.

I don't really know what to base this off of. I haven't seen any gameplay footage yet so I can't really say. majadamus

There's plenty of stuff you can base this off, if the DmC trailer wasn't enough than look back to the games Ninja Theory have made and come to a conclusion as to why they are or not fit enough to reboot DMC. Personally I don't think they will do the franchise justice, if butchering Dante in the trailer wasn't enough they really don't know how to implement satisfying gameplay judging by Enslaved.

lousy sales are a given but I don't think it will score that high, I reckon the gameplay wil pale in comparison to the series standard and will probably score like 6.5 - 7.0

DMC doesnt exactly have a consistent standard.

DMC1 - Mind blowing, amazing, GOTY
DMC2 - Pretty crap, playable but meh
DMC3 - Great, awesome combat and fun
DMC4 - Ok i guess

DMC5 will probably be a good game but i have zero interest in it (at the moment anyway).

You can't base a franshise on it's weakest point.

DMC4 was nothing spectacular but it was a good DMC game. It was simply more of the same and had the wrong main character.

I'll probably still buy DmC.. Hoping Ninja Theory changes the character though.

It will probably suck pretty bad as a DMC game.

I don't like the overall design of the game so far. I don't know if this is going to be the most disappointing DMC game, but it definitely feels like a different game with the "DMC" name slapped on it at the moment. Even though I liked Heavenly Sword somewhat, the same thing can't be said about this game... oh well, time will tell.

Everything comes is circles. When the world met Dante for the first time, he got the jrpg girlman treatment and now this new one gets the Twilight treatment.

According to tradition, 5 should be really good but 4 did sort of break the "even number means crap" curse of the series.

Lets just wait and see.

That depends on how much they change the combat, and whether they maintain a stable 60 fps framerate. Also, it depends on how much cheese they put into the story and cutscenes... because a "serious" Devil May Cry would ruin the series.

If the gameplay is anything like Enslaved then I think were in trouble.... combat in DMC is the best thing about the series.

NT excels at presentation and characters.

When it comes to combat however, they don't hold a candle to Mikami or Kamiya.

It's like one day Nintendo deciding to make Mario look like Ron Jeremy.....some things are just better left alone.

NT so far made two IP so when it came to combat they had nothing to build off on. DMC has a certain combat to its series and im pretty sure they will stick to that formula with a little twist. Also its not like they are alone capcom is there. This poll is also useless cause no matter what people are going to say its poo cause of the look of dante even if you say ignore it.

They made 2 games this gen and both got an 8 here. The barely would make more sense if they lets say made like 6 or moregames this gen and only 1 or 2 got an 8.

It'll be better, I never thought the DMC's gameplay was that great, and I know that ninja theory will be able to pull off a better story.

The trailer screamed awsome imo. I bet all you could think about is ewww the new dante modellooks like crap and bam the game automatically sucks which is what 95% people did.
