Gears 2 will have its moment to shine and do very well. However games the caliber of MGS4 only come around every few years. MGS4 will be a memorable landmark in the industry long after Gears 2 is forgotten (unless 2 happens to be miles past the original. It wont.)

But no MGS4 wont be silenced by any means. Im actually disappointed that its out now considering the rest of this gen there may not be a game to outshine it. Seriously if all these haters just got a chance to play MGS4 they would understand. This game will take its place among titles like FFVII, Zelda OoT, Chrono Trigger etc. as one of the games that the industry will not forget.

If you like Gears 2 more than MGS4 then doesn't that silence the MGS4 train to you?

I mean you can't expect everyone to like MGS4 or Gears 2. Both are great games. MGS4 is .4 higher than Gears 1. So if that really bothers you, then don't play Gears. You'd be missing out.

I don't know. MGS4 looks pretty bland compared to gears 2. Different kind of game. We are talking stealth vs pure action but Gears 2 looks like a classic and the graphics look much more detailed to me. maybe not as refined but the details are much greater. It shows to me the 360 is more than capable of keeping up in the graphics department.Walker34

Eh? Playing MGS4 would change your graphics opinion. Also playing MGS4 would show you that pure action is an option if you like. I mean they give 77 weapons to use and most are customizable even down to the type of ammo you use. Thats the beauty of MGS4. Just one small area can offer endless gameplay options.

For example in the start of the Sout America chapter the PMCs have rebels on the ground and execute them one at a time. You can sneak through and let the script play out, go out guns blazing and kill everything that moves, covertly snipe the PMC soldiers so the rebels can get up on there feet grab weapons and start fighting back and sneak through the confusion, or help the rebels kill off the PMC soldiers and have them support you through the area. The options are trully endless those are just a few examples from one small area. The replay value is endless. Things play out different every time based on your actions.

Yea I know, but all these threads about MGS4 (especially with a sticky) and about scores of 10 are seriously very annoying.

First off Gears2 will be out on about 5 months, therefore the hype & buzz surrounding MGS4 right now will be less... Secondly Gears2 is the most hyped game by lemmings and also one game everyone is keeping an eye on, either to praise or else to bash and will surely cause some some major discussions (specially in SW)...

Gears2 will not put MGS4 to silence, since MGS4 is not just a game, its an experience (a great one), fans like me will always talk about the game from time to time, and personally MGS4 raised the standard level when it comes to story telling, gameplay, animations and anything about a game...

I played MGSIV not like most of people in here bashing the game just because its a PS3 exclusive.... when Gears2 is out, i'll play it on PC since Gears is a multiplat and will ejoy the game... But guess later this year the real clash will be Gears2 vs Resistance2..... its no use putting Gears2 against the mighty MGS4, since loosing battles are not worth fighting for :)

I dont undestand the bashing this game is getting from people who havent even played it.... how can they even have an honest opinion without playing the game....
