Will Gears Of War 2 be Exclusive to Xbox 360?

Since it is developed by epic. Just wanted to know.

It is one of those big games the MS is banking on to sell games.

According to Marc Rein Gears of War franchise is 100% owned by Epic, not Microsoft. So it is possible that it could go to the PS3.ramey70

Yea a game Microsoft contracted the rights to going on the PS3...

ms controls the rights to the gears series. epic wanted the extra maps to be free, felt strongly about it. yet the maps were charged for. ms came in with their wallet at the right time. cliffy b wanted to do his own project but epic didn't have the staff or money to allow for that. cliffy b was going to quit and start up his own studio. ms hired them to make a game for microsoft and gave them enough money to hire staff etc... and keep them together. when someone builds you a house whos is it when it's finished? the buyers or the builders?rdo

No, the second one won't be on the PS3 since, as said previously, MS owns the publishing rights. However, it seems after GeOW 2, all bets are off. If MS and Epic don't make an agreement, GeOW 3 could maybe go multiplat (or PS3 exclusive, though that really wouldn't make any sense since cows would only be playing the last part of the trilogy).

Sorry, no Gears on PS3 until at least the third onecomes out.

To the first they do. Where is any source stating they own the rights to the 2nd? Not saying they don't, but I've just never seen anything official on it.

Yes it is exclusive to the 360. MS and EPIC signed a deal that MS would own publishing rights for the first two Gears games. Also, Im quite sure that a deal for a third, if there is a third will be struck between MS and EPIC. Just remember that in all likelyhood, a third Gears game would likely be on MS's next console as it is looking like Gears 2 wont even be out until 2009 at this rate.kungfuchaos

the publishing rights doesn't mean it will only be on 360, there are many games published by ms on pc and mac

I'm pretty sure that MS has a contract for the second game to be exclusive. But there's still no word on if it's even getting made, at this point. MS and Epic aren't on the nicest of terms right now.Timstuff

well Epic said they didn't wanna talk about gears of war 2 because they were still improving on the first gears. and what makes you think Epic and microsoft arent getting along right now?..last time news like that broke up..somebody from Epic quickly posted a response saying it was complete BS
