Cause if Prolouge is any indication then wow they are way off on being realistic. No damage, hit detection crap, cars do not handle realisticly it still feels like Gran Turismo 4 to me which is not very realistic.

GT has never really been about being ultra realistic, so I doubt it. It will most likely have a wonderful career mode though.nmaharg
The only thing GT has ever had going for it is the amount of cars and the ability to bounce off walls
thats why this game supports logitechs steering wheelsGT was and never will be realistic ! pushing buttons just dont feel real :o

I don't see why damage is so important to you people.

[QUOTE="Sserv"]I don't see why is isn't to you. I don't care much for damage either since its never done right, i remember lemmings saying forza 2 was the best sim racer because of damage but the truth is the damage in forza 2 is a joke, i crashed straight into a wall at 100mph+ and was able to drive away , how is this realistic ? It seems the damage in forza is there for an added gameplay mechanic rather than for realism.I don't see why damage is so important to you people.

I find it to be the most realistic console car sim game, not that realism makes games better. The presentation of this game and the verity are done so well. Also tweaking cars is one hell of a feature and it's made very well with so many options. An AAA title in my book. (don't quote me and start blabla about it not having damage..)abuabedye i was gonna say, the upgrades you can make on cars is unbelievable...cant wait to see what they will add in 5

Forza 2 had great damage, ofcourse u can drive awaywhen you crash but that significantly slows down ur car speed when engine is damaged. what did you expect? the driver to die? if anything, forza 2 is 1000x more realistic compared to GT5

GT series has been like Tactical-FPS. Of all FPS they are the most realistic, yet, in an overall manner, they are unrealistic.
GT makes you feel it's realistic, but it is not.
Well, it IS GT4, but with better graphics. That's about it. That's why GT5 Prologue scored 7.5. The cars still rubberband back on the track have you smash them into the wall. LOL!! It's like the CPU cars are on rails (like those old racing car rides at amusement parks). GT5 needed a lot of work, hopefully Polyphony wasn't just added more cars, tracks and damage to the game over the last year. The whole A.I. structure and hit detection needed to be completely redone.Cause if Prolouge is any indication then wow they are way off on being realistic. No damage, hit detection crap, cars do not handle realisticly it still feels like Gran Turismo 4 to me which is not very realistic.

Because were in the year 2000's now and racing games like Rad Racer & Outrun (without damage) went out in the 80's and 90's.
Polyphony claims their game is the most realistic racer ever, but that's far from the truth when their cars run into a wall as 150mph, doesn't get damage and loses only 5% of there speed. The game was never realistic except in the visual of the cars.
Not if its anything like GT3 and 4 in terms of gameplay. Racing sims have moved on since the 1990's... GT has not.

i dont really care, it'll be fun, thats all that really matters. i think damage has been confirmed for it anyway.
First off, Prologue isn't going to be a true indication of what GT5 will be like because a lot of things will change. Damage has been confirmed for GT5, a few times now, so instead of everyone complaining that the game doesn't have damage you should be wondering what damage in GT5 will be like. Secondly, the cars DO handle realistically. In fact, many of the cars handle so realistically they are all different from one another. I admit I haven't played Forza, but GT5: P feels amazing, best sim racer on the PS3 in terms of how the cars feel imo. Barreling into a turn at full speed at Daytona feels a million times better than it does in other racing games I have played. The one time cars don't handle realistically is when they are bouncing off walls or other cars or in sand traps. Hit detection is crap because there have been a few times where someone hits my car and I am the one getting a contact penalty. Other times I'll get hit incredibly hard and my car barely notices and then I may get just tapped and my car will spin out. Overall though I think GT5 has some great potential and I really hope they will reveal it at E3 because I dunno If I can keep playing GT5: P as I keep waiting.Cause if Prolouge is any indication then wow they are way off on being realistic. The TC has no idea what he is talking about, even GT4 with a wheel plays realistically. You can bounce off walls in ANY racing game, and use other cars to aid you around corners. Those are the flaws of video games, if they were to make it "realistic"... you crash, you die. Gran Turismo 5 will sell over 10 million, and have the most hardcore online racing enthusiasts community. Plus with the ability to make your own tracks, the skill level is going to be raised so high, people are going to stupid with the harpins and sharp turns, there are going to be an insane amount of good drifting circuits. Not to mention that Rally is going to be phenomenal, and the cars they have in this game; koenigsegg ccx, GT2,GTR. (need i say MOAR?) Guy,s the TC can not be seirous.[QUOTE="whitetiger3521"]

That's my point, its not realistic, if i were to crash going 100mph+ straight into a wall the car would be totaled, there is no " carry on driving but with a slight performance penalty"
So to me forza is just as unrealistic for having fake damage as GT is for having no damage.

The only thing that most of you mention when it comes to realism is damage, it is important but it is not the only factor people..abuabedI think the biggest thing with Damage is that it kinda separates the men from the boys. When racing online I've seen people drive their car into corners at full speed just to bounce off the walls with a penalty FASTER than if you drive through that corner the right way. Also, you'll see people just ram into others like it's nothing. I think damage makes the game more difficult and makes the best even better. Luckily, damage has been confirmed for GT5! The problem is that we don't know how realistic the damage will be. I'm really hoping that running into a turn too fast and backing the car into the wall will not only ruin your day but also realistically show the bumper where the rear wheels used to be. Gran Turismo has prided itself on realism, so attention to the deformation of the car (internally and externally), and possibly the track, is going to be the biggest gamble Polyphony has ever taken with the series.
I always find it funny that all these "new features" are "confirmed" ..but Poly cant confirm a release date??..Sure the game will have X buuut..yea won't see it until ahhh we don't know ....that's TBA...
It's epic you people still believe them after countless delays...A vaporware PSP version..and promised features that never saw the light of day in GT4 and GT5P...
GT 5 is the best driving game I have played using a steering wheel, and frankly, I can't play the GT series without a steering wheel. It just is'nt the same. Arcade racers on the other hand is quite different. And people don't seem to realize there is two handling options in GT5p, it is the normal one and the professional one. There is quite the difference between the two, and though the new handling option is a little bit harder, I like it.
Polyphony has stated they could add damage to GT5, but they would have to go down to 8 cars per race instead of 16. And I don't see them adding some bad unrealistic damage just to please the arcade racing fans. If they add damage they would have to make it realistic. so when you hit a wall in 50mph you are out of the race. Would people want that?? The sales in controllers and steering wheels would increase by 100% because of everybody who would throw them around after crashing in the last round.

You have that backwards....It's the proper SIM fans that are looking for long term consequences (damage). It's the arcade racers that don't want (damage) basically for this very reason, long term consequences...Because in games like GTR/Rfactor/Iracing(proper sims) and to a lesser extent FM2..You hit a wall at 50 your race is done.....and believe me there are a lot of people who want that...

As you said, it is confirmed for GT5 and I hope polyphony take their franchise to a new level of quality.
